Most of the squad trained, including Viney who did a bit of rehab running and drills with Nev Jetta, Sam Frost appeared on the Trengove trolley, only missing Petracca, Trengove, Kent Nev Jetta is totally [censored] off he can't get a crack at Ballantyne The drills were as per the norm now, lots of ball movement, with more or less defenders, then a few stoppage drills where tackling was encouraged At the end Watts did a bit more tackling practice When rucks trained separately with Stafford, it was only the recognized rucks, Jamar, Spencer, Gawn, Fitzpatrick and King Towards the end squad was split into groups, McKenzie was with the backs, as was Hunt, the rest as it says on the tin Tyson trained strongly, Dawes had a bit of running repairs done with physios, but finished strongly also McCartney didn't seem to be there today I asked Ben Mathews how many players would we put on Fyfe, answer 18 For those who like the look of him, ANB has pulled up really well from his first two runs, looking forward to Sunday Any questions, feel free, pics on Twitter Demonpk soon20 points

Well done on 100 AFL games Wattsy. Takes talent and hard work to achieve that, let alone to do it in the face of constant criticism from your own "supporters". I'm glad you're a Demon.17 points

It was on the Marngrook footy show, I watch that instead of the other drivel, he was interviewed in Alice Springs, playing with the NT Thunder in NEAFL and working at a college. Also it was stated that MFC is still supporting him, and providing advice on diet and training regimen (this was interviewer who said that not Dom) I put this at the time, because Dom wasn't initiated, he was regarded as a child still, he needed to go home and reconnect with his people, that done, and bravo for the club for sticking by him, he wants another crack, when he left, the club stated he would be welcomed back13 points

I know many of us despise the Footy Show and what it has become, but this is absolutely hilarious. A prank they played tonight on the show that they did on Bernie Vince, with Jack Watts, Crawford (the oldman) and Garry Lyon being all in on it. Do yourself a favour: part 1: http://www.9jumpin.com.au/show/aflfootyshow/videos/4206203410001/ part 2: http://www.9jumpin.com.au/show/aflfootyshow/videos/4206341673001/ p.s I'd love to have a beer (or 10) with Bernie.11 points

A lot of people on this site have praised Roos and his team for the development of a hard game plan and for the development of the players. Yet here we are not giving one of our players a chance to show how he might have developed under Roos. He is a player that has shown a willingness to give 100% on the ground for the team. He has had a few good games at Casey and Roos has selected him for this match most likely to do a particular job. I will wait and see how he performs and then critique rather than write him off the way many on here have. Grimes is in a similar position.8 points

An acquaintance of mine knows Colin very well. He has told me over a number of years, that he is a lovely bloke, considerate and respectful of others. This is consistent with other comments about meeting him at off field events. He has decided to retire which is probably a sensible decision. His career at Freo did not work out. In this case, the irony is that he went from a very poor football club to a very good one. He may not have worked hard enough, however, he was up against it when you look at Freo's list. At Melbourne we seem to have turned the corner and we are seeing some guys who were getting games who are now struggling because of the improved list. However, for many years Col was a loyal Melbourne man during the desperate years of failure of the club on and off the field. He like many others over the years failed to live up to his potential. Perhaps as others say he was a lazy footballer or to put it more kindly, did not work hard enough. However, he is not on his Pat Malone. There were many others in that stable of underachievement. However, does that make if okay to pass snide or contemptuous comments about him. He has already achieved more than most on the sporting field. He has failings like anyone. What satisfaction is there in pointing these out. I don't get it. Would some of the posters on this site make these criticisms to his face. I suspect not. We should congratulate him on his footy career and wish him well.8 points

Jeez that's unfair. You've essentially already blamed him for the loss before he's even been picked. It never ceases to surprise me how much focus people put on the least important members of our side. The performance of the 22nd player in the side is not the going to be the difference between us having a chance or not. If Jordie is picked and plays out of his skin for a career best performance, does that mean we'll win?8 points

JW: "You’ve got to realise that these people have no consequences to what they say and they go off and say one thing and think they’re the one, when there is also 300 other people saying something. They say something and then don’t even think about it again and go and live their life. For the person that it’s directed at – it is tough. It can get to you a little bit, but for me, if I let it get to me at the start, then I would’ve been in big trouble. I don’t really know how I’ve dealt with it, but you look to your family and friends, and look at your life as a whole – not just as a footballer. I’m pretty proud of who I am and what I stand for, so if [people think that] I don’t put my head over the ball on the footy field … well, I look at the bigger picture. That’s helped me along the way. My family and mates have helped me along the way – and they’re a big part of my life and they’re the biggest contributor to who I am, and that’s probably what I hold closest is family and friends." Well said young Jack. May the next 100 be as much fun and as successful for you and our Club as you want it to be. Good luck for Sunday young man!!!6 points

I spent a few minutes down there this morning and saw tyson getting his knee rebandaged. He still looked a bit proppy to me but seemed to participate in everything. They spent all the time I was there playing a handball game of footy with 6 teams - 2 groups of 3. 2 groups would try to move the ball and score a goal with only handballs. This would go on for around 7 mins and then 1 team would go off and rest whilst the 3rd team would come on. Having not seen much training I'm not sure whether this is done regularly but it looked pretty slick with fast movement, some good tackling, mostly clean hands etc. Maybe this is our strategy to break through Freo's strangulation defence. Most of the players are adept at lifting the arms before being tackled and dishinig off a handball. Targets were well hit. I did see Toumpas fumble quite a few times but it might havejst been whilst I was watching. Others who saw the who session might have a view.. It was stunning morning and the players looked like they were enjoying the workout and running hard.6 points

Go figure, Watts selected again. Those coaches obviously don't read the luminaries at demonland. Or maybe they know more about football than the posers here. Edit Typo - should read posters but I like posers so it stays.5 points

I'll alway love Jordie for his critical role in the play last year against the Bombers that got us that last goal. Always! Big heart, hard at it, good hands,... Make them hurt Jordie!!! Go Dees!4 points

I cannot see us losing this game. We will win by 23 points after leading all day. Watts will kick four, Hogan 3, Garlett 6 and Dawes two. Singles to a shipload of others. The tide has turned. The seas have parted. We are back in town. I've got a brand new bottle of single malt and all is well with the world. Optimism is a wonderful thing. I can deal with disappointment but negativity is just plan depressing. Come on, who's going to trot out the delusional claim or mention the reality bus? I bet it doesn't take long. A pox on your negativity.4 points

Instructive about where the Club's at now compared to the past. PJ came in and his first comment was what a lack of experience there was in all areas of the Club. Neeld put together a bunch of raw coaches many of whom hadn't even been in the AFL system. That means in turn none of them had a broad network of contacts. PJ brings in Roosy, he has a massive network of contacts himself. He brings in experienced people around him, including George Stone who's been around as long as anyone and obviously has a huge network of contacts that stretches to this scenario. Those contacts contact George, he tells the Club, the rest is history. Another example is Dane Rampe at the Swans. Couldn't get picked in any Junior NSW Rep teams, went to Melbourne played with Williamstown, Dogs said they liked him but didnt' pick him. Went back to Sydney, gave up on the dream, played at UNSW. Roosy's son was playing in the same team, he sees him, tells the Swans and bingo they get another unbelievable recruit because of the network. Clubs like the Hawks have these networks and have been using them for years. We are just starting to get ours and its starting to reap rewards already.4 points

There is a certain amount of petty schadenfreude in this for Dees supporters but there is also a dislike for being force-fed BS, and that is what we got with this nonsense about the need for a 'different environment' that through some convoluted reasoning has meant being at a different AFL club over the Westgate. I don't think many of us mean him ill will, we just appreciate people being level with us. And not many of us have seen that with Clark.4 points

It is May 1st and I have been practicing mindfulness as part of my yoga training. Each month we focus on a different emotion and try to modify our thought process in relation to this emotion. This month we focus on compassion (to ourselves and others) and it is only 9 hours into the month and I am struggling with my first challenge thanks to MC. Damm you - I was doing so well.4 points

I don't think you're alone, Dante. Redleg's already on record defending the Tribunal's integrity. It's also possible to imagine the Tribunal operating entirely sincerely and reaching the decision it reached in this case (these cases?) The article on comfortable satisfaction that Whispering Jack provided a link to some time ago points out that the concept has some flexibility to it and the more serious the consequences of a decision the more thoroughly the grounds for being comfortably satisfied need to be established. No Tribunal needed leaning on by the AFL to recognise just how damaging a guilty finding was going to be. Without the full terms of the Tribunal's decision we'll never be certain exactly how they negotiated their way through a test that they may have been unfamiliar or uncomfortable with. But on the basis of what's been said about not knowing what was in the bottle despite labels, states of belief, manufacturer's statements and so on it seems as though they pushed comfortable satisfaction somewhere into the domain of what reasonable doubt is supposed to test. They could easily have reached an unfair or wrong decision with the best (in their view) of motives. That, of course, is why appeals exist. All we can do is wait to see what WADA thinks of their processes but we don't have to believe that the Tribunal was corruptible or venal or anything else to get to where they got to even if we disagree absolutely with the decision.4 points

I'm presuming we were happy with how Dom was progressing because his contract had been extended not all that long before Dom stepped away.3 points

They played safe. Had they found against Essendon it would have become a much-quoted precedent; they would have unleashed all sorts of unwelcome consequences; and their judgment would have almost certainly been challenged by the Essendon mafia - at which time presumably clarity about "comfortable satisfaction" would have emerged and been applied to whatever they'd said in their judgment. Maybe they felt exposed and under unfair pressure. By dismissing the matter, all this could so easily be avoided. "Comfortable satisfaction" is vague, and maybe they didn't feel comfortable about exactly how it should be understood. Small wonder they drifted towards the familiar. Still gutless, and wrong. They had a job to do, and they squibbed it, blaming their tools.3 points

Seems awfully soon - 7 months after pulling the pin. Sounds to me as if the guy doesn't know what he wants. I can't see him on an AFL list next year, needs a year or two to demonstrate the desire now that he's already thrown it away once I would think.3 points

Dees by 4 goals. The win against ninthmond I'm counting as a 11 goal win. 5 posters and 2 goals from poor umpiring were given to ninthmond. 8 day break, no travel after 2 interstate games. Freo bashed and bruised by Sydney. Watts to kick 4. Time to get the public frothing about the MFC Dare to dream3 points
