  1. Really??? Frawley played forward with little effect. Replaced in the side with Hogan. Terlich was running off half back. Replaced with Lamumba. We didn't even have a crumbing forward. Insert Garlett. Clark didn't play..hence no loss. How do we have a weaker squad?

  2. "There will be some good free agents this time next year and we will go hard at those" = "You idiots Adelaide, you should have done the deal for Dangerfield while you had the chance" Or so I like to think, anyway

  3. Why are we suddenly talking about finishing last? Do we think there's no scope for improvement in our existing players? Very few clubs turn over their lists in one off season, and yet clubs move up and down the ladder all the time. FFS guys, get a grip.

  8. Enormous talent! The kid captain Vic Metro last year as a bottom ager so it just shows the leadership qualities he presents something Paul Roos screams for. A huge endorsement from his peers. He is probably the closest thing in terms playing ability to Nathan Fyfe where he is that tall midfielder who is very courageous in the air and can take a big pack mark. Has a huge leap him. He is cool and calm under pressure and shows good poise with ball in hand. Don't pencil him in as a defender he will be drafted as a mid by us could make a big impact in years to come. Very driven and determined character and for what its worth he was apparently close to representing Australia in Boxing so not only is he a very hard trainer he is also a tough nut! A 194cm midfielder to go along with Viney, Tyson, Brayshaw, Salem, Kent, Michie, Toumpas, JKH has the potential to become a potent midfield in years to come.

  9. The worst bit about players like mitch and scully leaving a horrible taste in the mouth of the supporters is that our players are always so friendly towards them when we play them. If that was my local footy club people would run through him all day and tell him why. Every contest people would make sure he got smashed. Hed be begging to come off. But our blokes will shake his hand and give him a cuddle

  14. Thanks Doctor. Emma Quayle in the Age today stated this: "The Demons and Tigers had negotiated a trade for the former No. 2 draft pick, but were forced to abandon the plan after a secondary set of scans ordered by Richmond's medical team confirmed he had been re-injured. Both clubs were genuinely shocked by what the scans revealed, as was Trengove's surgeon, given his encouraging recent progress." I will await the D'land medical experts to conjure further facts to support their touted myths.

  15. Don't stress too much people. the dess were in on a number of deals (or should I say "trying to make deals happen"), but the lay of the land means nothing much has happened EXCEPT 1. There is still tomorrow 2. We have an excellent crumber now in our froward line 3. we have an excellent attacking PREMIERSHIP player in our backline 4. We WILL get Sam Frost, part of the future backline 5. AND we still have picks 2, 3 & 23 (my favorite numbers those) So as Monty Python used to say...."Always look on the bright side of life* * * * * * * *" (didn't know what I could put in for the little whistle).

  17. I'm happy to have Lumumba on the list. He offers qualities we are sorely lacking, specifically pace and power. We struggled to move the ball quickly last year, but he is a powerful and direct footballer and will help out a lot.

  19. Spoke to one of my very good mates at a wedding over the weekend who is very close was a recently retired Collingwood player (I know it sounds like the Judd's grandma's baker's son srtory, but I am legit), anyway, said friend had a night out with H recently at said former Collingwood players wedding and his impression was nothing like the media portrayal that has been out there. He assured me that H was one of the best blokes going around and that he was a bit of a lad that does has fun. Although he can hold his own in an intellectual discussion. The two have remained friends since their meeting and I trust my mates assessment more than a bunch of bogan blokes at the Pies who reckon Gays and Penis' are hilarious. No one gets along with FIGJAM either, so won't trust his judgement. Welcome H, reckon you will be a beauty!

  20. How long does it take to make a deal with Collingwood? Probably as long as it takes the average Collingwood supporter to work out a basic math problem.

  21. It would seem unfathomable to the public that Kennedy would be traded by Sydney But, for reasons I wont go in to, I've just had conformation they're close. We have a substantial offer on the table.

  24. The ultra positives are missing the point. Roos said a number if times that we need more midfielders and an a grade midfielder. He also said he didnt want to bring in too many kids.

  25. Excuse me? Did Vince, Tyson and Cross appear in spite of Roos? Pedersen, Byrnes, Clark, Dawes, et al. I am disappointed but if you were to take the two lists of players attracted by Neeld and then Roos - there would be little argument as to who recruited the better players.

  26. The club obviously had a crack. I don't doubt for a second that they seriously explored the Beams, Dangerfield and Kennedy options, and probably others that didn't get leaked. So they didn't eventuate - they rarely do, these big name players are normally very hard to move, and it's not just the MFC. I really wanted a big name trade - as others have said, we need to improve and fast. We don't want to wait for kids to take us there. A Tyson trade would have been nice, but who honestly doesn't believe we were KOTD with that one? We got lucky, it's hard to expect that to happen every year. Going in to the draft with our first three picks is disappointing, but only a little bit for mine. We've still got every chance to significantly improve our list if we get the picks right. We now back in our recruiting staff.

  27. Can't even describe in words how deflated I feel about this. After 3 months of Roos talking about "drastic" changes and a total "list overhaul" to eradicate what he described as a scarred group mindset... and we've traded out one player. At their behest. And he was our best forward. In no universe is this a good result for us if we laughably want to appear as an "attractive" option next year for free agents, if that is indeed the master plan that Mahoney mentioned. We are screaming out for midfield depth and we haven't been able to trade in a single midfielder. Talk about promising draftees all you like, but they won't be AFL level midfielders until long after Roos walks out the door.

  31. It’s hard to be too down on what has transpired. Garlett is well worth a punt for #61. Frawley is not worth #3. Clark was retired a month ago and so we can say we got a free Lumumba. Frost has nominated us and we have leverage through the PSD. Dangerfield looks like staying put but hasn’t signed and is still a free agent next year. And Hogan, Brayshaw and #3 will make us look a more attractive option for him next year and we can bank salary cap room. The real downer is Trengove’s foot injury.

  32. Nothing original to add - sorry bout that - but I'm quietly pleased we've got Lumumba - seems like a real character, and a decent human being - so many of the things he's been upset about in the past have been on behalf of other people, as opposed to the feller he's replacing, who's main area of concern has been himself. I also used to think that watching Flying Harry O running off the back flank was one of the pleasures of the game in recent years. Wish he still had his hair, but... Get the feeling that he and Roosy will get along okay, unlike him and the meat-head at Collingwood.

  36. My take on the Kennedy deal is that Sydney were hoping for picks 3 &12. That fell through so they went for 2&3, which we have categorically said no too. We would've turned around and said it's 3&23 or nothing, and they are now deciding. I've got a feeling their main reason for wanting to do this is cap space with the COLA being fazed out. Here's hoping a deal can get done!

  38. Yes there is. Adding ready-made best-22 players will always give some bump - Vince, Tyson...Garlett, Lumumba. But more important is incremental improvement. Buddy, Hodge, Roughead, Lewis, Mitchell etc. all played in some mediocre sides early in the piece. I honestly don't know if there's a powerhouse dormant in this list, but the improvement needs to come from within. It's not possible to build a great team entirely from trades and free agency. Expect improvement, expect some new faces, and there's a chance there are four worse teams than us next year.

  39. I hope Boyd has Scully on speed dial to discuss the pressures of being paid way too much, for way too long way, way too early. A 7 year deal for a guy whose played 9 games if these facts are correct is lunacy.

  45. Happy to say that it was an mistake to take Toumpas over Wines but please don't rewrite history. Drafting needs over best available ??? Do the research and every publication had Toumpas going in the draft BEFORE Wines. Pre kicking a ball in anger Toumpas was considered a better prospect than Wines. Just hasn't turned out that way. This constant moaning on Wines vs Toumpas is wearying. I am so glad we traded out pick 2 last year or we would have a host of posters bemoaning taking Kelly over Bontempelli. Go back over every draft and you will notice that draft order has never ever been correct. If you were looking at past drafts number one picks would be ( IMO and obviously subjective) 2013 - Bontempelli 2012 - Wines 2011 - pretty close between Coniglio, Dom Tyson (yay), Greene, wingard 2010 - probably Heppell 2009 - We talk about Scully and Trengove but look how everyone missed out on Fyfe at 20. Gunston at 29 !! It doesn't matter if you agree with who I have suggested as pick one or not - the evidence is that if you do retrospective draft analysis and you will see that EVERYONE has pretty much got the draft order wrong.
