  4. It has become clear that we are closing in on Danger. It would appear that all that is now required is for Roos and the MFC to convince Danger to pick us. I find Roos' comments very interesting. Him acknowledging that we are pursuing Danger is massive in my book. Last year I was told absolutely at about Round 8 by a board member that Roos would be our coach in 2014. This was then confirmed and reconfirmed to me for the remainder of the season. I watched on as Roos dismissed, then denied, then slowly and methodically pretended to gain interest in coaching us. Danger failing to commit to Adelaide, Adelaide opening up the potential of a Danger trade and Roos acknowledging MFC interest is telling. Considering we can offer Adelaide the best deal and Danger the most money we have to be a very good chance of landing him. As I said all that is left is to convince Danger.

  7. As I understand it, ASADA is going to wait on Essendon and Hird's decisions as to whether to appeal to the Full Court of the Federal Court before re-issuing the show cause notices (final date for lodging the appeal is 10 October). Then, when the show cause notices are issued, ASADA will give the players some detail of the case against them having also indicated that it would consider discussing deals with players and their representatives should they want to come forward and talk. It all sounds like ASADA is being nice and civilised about things but it's also a very clever pressure tactic. I mentioned this months ago and it's now coming to pass that after this whole mess has derailed two seasons for the EFC, it is now going to play havoc with its recruiting process. The Bombers lost their first two picks in last year's draft as a result of the August 2013 governance sanctions and this year have only an end of round one pick (received through some clever negotiating) in the first two rounds. I would imagine that there is going to be a fair amount of resistance to being drafted to a club with its recent history and perhaps a questionable immediate future as well. Then there's the question of trading and ascribing a value right in the middle of the trade period to players with uncertain futures because of the unknown nature and duration of potential sanctions for drug cheating (or if you like, for being duped into having unknown chemical substances injected into their bodies). The Bombers and their players already under substantial pressure both internal and external hardly need this on top of everything else they're up against. Meanwhile, I can imagine the golden boy swanning around without a care in the world earning $1m and picking up post graduate qualifications while no doubt sipping away an exotic red wine from the Napa Valley at a cafe in the shade of the Golden Gate Bridge feeling much like the Emperor Nero as Rome burned around him.

  8. HA! Yes of course... it all makes sense. The club knows that we have Dangerfield all tied down, but need to keep it a secret! They then get Bernie Vince to sign up to Demonland as 'Party Boy'. Bernie gives us the good information regarding Goodwin a few weeks early. Demonland followers then believe that 'Party Boy' is good for info and take his word that nothing is going on with Dangerfield..... I smell Paul Roos all over this one. Well played Paul.... Well played indeed.

  9. If I'm Clarko and actually was in negotiations with Adelaide and my plans were being broadcast on radio two days before a GF I'd be spewing and take that as a good indication of the professionalism of the club I was considering and walk away.

  10. history will record this as one of the most gutless, selfish acts in the history of the game. I hope he never sets foot on an AFL ground again - an if he does, I hope every game is shrouded in controversy and vilification. What a [censored] tool

  11. A very reliable source has told me that Clark has met with every other club in the AFL, and he's now about to meet the AFL Umpires boss with a view to getting an offer from them.

  14. All this sledging and abuse toward Clark is all on the assumption that the MFC actually want to keep him. Given all that is coming out of our club is the sound of crickets, it's a very big assumption.

  16. So I just got the following emailed to me from a mate.... who's mate attended a breakfast at the MCC with C Wilson, D Barrett, J Ralph & S Edmund. Anyways, dont take it as gospel, could be rubbish, most likely is complete rubbish but I thought i'd toss it out here in case some people find it interesting. Dont know if he expects me to post it anywhere but that much crap gets spruiked anyways I doubt people care. Melbourne been assured of getting pick 3 for Frawley – Apparently he still hasn’t told the club whether he’ll stay and Peter Jackson’s only concern is that he might. The request for a priority pick was all part of the plan to get the best compo for Frawley – PJ a genius. All AFL clubs attended a meeting at the Westpac Centre to discuss trade week a few days ago and Melbourne hang pick 3 was widely accepted by all Dees, Saints and GWS up to their eyeballs in discussions on possible draft pick re-shuffling/trades Saints love McCartin and know the Dees and Giants want mids (Giants have no interest in McCartin, b0ners for Petracca) Saints happy to offload pick 1 to GWS so they can secure Petracca, for pick 4 and a player – If the Dees agree to lay off McCartin with picks 2 & 3, he’ll still be there at 4. Trouble for the Saints is the Dees are looking to take Brayshaw with 2 or 3 and off load the other pick to a club desperate for a tall – Saints might need to make it worth the Dees while… Potential 3 way trade: Saints – Get Pick 4 (MCCartin) and a player (potentially Jaksch) for pick 1 Giants – Get Pick 1 (Petracca) - Shiel and a latter pick to the Dees for pick 3 Dees – Pick 2 (Brayshaw), Shiel and a late 1st round/early 2nd round pick or Frost Hird no chance to coach ever again McKenna gone – Abblett knifing him behind closed doors, supporting him publicly Ryder to Port if the Brisbane deal hasn’t already been done Swans cashed up again with Malceski, Mitchell, O’Keefe and Goodes all expected to leave and will pull out as surprise big signing Hawks will get Frawley – As soon as the GF is over the make him a massive offer Trouble at the Dogs, players unhappy with the coach, senior players think the young blokes are getting ahead of themselves – A few ripe to be picked off Haven’t invested nearly enough in development and players are already raising concerns Any backwards slide would see a massive player exodus and the club become an almost irreparable mess – Cameron gone! Giants in MASSIVE trouble, AFL sh1tting themselves – Are expected to go backwards next year, potential spoon.

  19. Again with the nonsense claim that Dangerfield is susceptible to injury, when it would take 15 seconds of research to learn that he's missed 6 games in 6 years. Demonland is sometimes living proof that people are just wilfully ignorant.

  26. I rolled my eyes at posters who feared Clark would make a comeback with another club during the season. MFCSS at it's finest, I thought. I rolled my eyes when Damian Barrett broke the news that Clark would make a comeback with another club. That's sloppy journalism, even for you Damo, I thought. I just didn't think a human being could act in such an ungrateful and disloyal manner. But for his manager to all but confirm it in the press today, makes a mockery of Clark's character. Chasing more $$$ at a finals-bound club after everything the MFC has done for him is the epitome of weak. I'll stop short of wishing injury upon him, but when the going gets tough at your new club Mitch, don't look for any sympathy out my way! We got some good karma with $cully (a patron saint compared to Clark) turning out to be a [censored] player. I'm sure we will get some more with this.

  31. I have tried to withhold judgement until we knew more. Seems to me that there are still two alternatives. 1. We made it clear to him that he was not wanted, or if wanted, only on a very undesirable contract. And we did that because we know more than other clubs or have a cunning scheme in mind. 2. MC is indeed best described by the long list of expletives deleted that some having been lobbing at him. For the comfort of supporters, if #1 is the truth, then I hope the club lets us know some way or another.

  32. This is how I see things: 1. Dangerfield appears more likely than not to leave the crows. 2. More likely that Dangerfield leaves this year rather than next. 3. Melbourne have the best hand in terms of picks to satisfy Adelaide. 4. Melbourne not Dangerfield's preferred destination but we're not as far down the list as we often are given the Roos, Goodwin, Vince factor. 5. If Dangerfield commits to talking to other clubs it's likely that relations will sour further with Adelaide. 6. If Dangerfield's preferred destination/s can't come anywhere what we can offer, negotiations may break down. 7. If negotiations break down, Dangerfield may feel he's gone too far down the path of leaving and therefore can't back down. Melbourne might then have an opportunity to swoop.

  40. I'm not going to rule out that this is a smoke screen for another player. It's not like Roos for this kind of talk to leak out, nor for him to comment about it in the media.

  41. The truth about whether we want Clark is probably somewhere in the middle of our opinions; we would like to keep him as he has little trade value, but on a small base payment and possibly on the rookie list. We wanted spare cash to throw at Dangerfield and other premier mids and having $800k tied up in a crocked CHF was not helping. Roos would want more investment in the midfield and Clark's intentions don't fit well into that.

  44. “We are clearly talking to all clubs about pick two. Our fans can’t wait for another three or four years, we have to get cracking to become more competitive.” exactly what I have been saying, Roos knows that the way forward for this club is not to rely on high draft picks but to import established talent
