Well this is my first post here Demonland! I have been one of those creepy people that would live vicariously through other peoples posts.... The last time I watched the boys live was when the Northern Stand was still up, you could buy full strength beer and I was sitting behind Ian Henderson(nice bloke!!). I will be going to watch the game with a mate of mine I met when I was working in the "West" digging it up and sending it to China! Yes he is a one eyed Eagles man like every other luddite over there, I got tired of hearing him tell me how great Subiaco Oval is so I said "he needs to see a game at the "G"! not that shite horse paddock those goons shuffle about on".... and with the way the boys are travelling at the moment I expect to be bludgeoned with West Coast gibberish and gleeful hooting coming from my ham fisted friend, the only joy I have had so far is that the Weeagles are on the same number of wins as the Dees!!!! So with a small wager he and I made a few years back, I expect that and most of the over priced beers will be on me......... So I will be getting a membership and supporting the Demons, because if I'm wasting my money on mid strength beer and shite food I may as well give some to the club "my heart beats true" for. I hope to see you all there.... I will be the guy with the big West Coast supporter sitting beside him drinking my beer...... GO DEES!!!18 points

Well, he has made it easy for us to move on from what happened a few years ago. He should never have been given an extension but that isn't his fault. For him to resign is the best outcome from our clubs perspective as Boards can be challenged but executives are expensive to remove. He is a Demon despite his shortcomings and I hope we don't make the mistake that we seem to always make and that is make an enemy of a Demon who had the best interests of the club at heart. He moves on. We must move on too.17 points

Not wishing to steal Nineteen's thunder but we re-signed 40+ members tonight. And a lot said they will be renewing Rangey me old chum, looks like your revolution will not be televised (a bit of musical trivia for the buffs) Also got your PM, not sure what my ice skating ability has to do with anything, can you explain Also shook Mark Neeld's hand this time. We should get a reasonable crowd on Saturday. keep the faith, stay together, we will get out of this hole we are in13 points

Haha, I remember this guy! ^^ Hope you're happy barracking for Richmond. Me, I'd feel like a dirty sellout. Enjoy your cheap success, wonder who you'll start barracking for when the Tiges hit the bottom of the cycle again some time in the future?13 points

You can say what you want about Schwab (and I wanted him gone 2 years ago) but he is literally taking responsibility for a lot here and should be applauded for what he's doing right now to present a unified front. Today is the start of a bright future for us.10 points

We had an AGM in February and not a single soul got up and spoke a single word of criticism against the Board, or Schwab or the coach or his panel of coaches. Not a single word. Not one question about the CEO's performance in running the club. Nobody spoke out about the recruiting policy. In fact, everyone was full of praise about the mix of new players on display. They were all there on show, the new, the young, the mid age, the old and recycled. Nobody chose to criticise or to send in a letter to be asked at the AGM. What's happened since then? A so/so pre season and two appalling performances by the coach and the players. And we seek to blame, find scapegoats, pillory everyone in sight including the convenient scapegoats and blindly follow what the media tells us. What they want us to think. Board members make significant contributions of their own funds and mass sackings cost more money in payouts and then there are the replacements and their cost. On top of that, who can tell us if we've really asked he right questions and got the right answers. And when it's all done and dusted, what happens if the players still don't respond and you've sacked Schwab and all of the other heads have rolled? Would the Caroline Wilson's, Patrick Smith's, Greg Denham's and all the media and armchair critics give a brass razoo if they kill the club?10 points

I suspect Cameron Schwab is a decent person and I wish him well whatever he does next. His departure was probably necessary to defuse tension. I mean no disrespect to Richmond's CEO, Benny Gale, but gee it would be nice to see Caroline Wilson's apoplexy if Richmond appointed Schwab as their CEO.9 points

Oh we must surely win this weekend now...... All the players are going to commit to each other and the club... Watts is going to get 25 kicks, Pederson is not going to duck, it is all going to change... I wonder if we will still make a profit each year going forward though... or sign that sponsor that many think Schwab couldn't...9 points

Didn't know where to post this but it seems appropriate here Went to the physio this morning....Checked in and went to sit in the waiting room....As I sat down I was approached by an 8 year old who asked me if I barracked for Melbourne........I said Yes and asked him how he knew???.....He replied that he had seen my key ring (which also holds a demon emblem) and that he barracked for them too....I asked what he thought about the situation we were in and he replied....We will be fine and he had barracked for the demons for all of his life (Yep the whole 8 years)but we all need to "stick fat" as he put it......It restored my faith in the footy club and in Melbourne supporters.... Just thought I would share......If an 8 year old has faith.....Then so do I.....9 points

Thank you for all of the efforts in trying to drag this club up through the muck. Thank you for trying different things from a footy club like Whiteboard Wed (may not have worked but fans loved it at the time), the new emblem, trying to instill the hertiage of the club into new players and people. It didn't work out but not for want of trying, who knows what happened behind closed doors but at least you were in the trench.8 points

Thanks for your contribution to the MFC Cameron, all the best for the future.8 points

Of note is that he was originally sacked for being too involved with football matters. He's focused himself on the business side, which Mclardy says is fantastic, yet now he's sacked because, apparently, our football performance is poor. We're not hearing the whole story and I think Don should be the next cab off the rank / hopefully a good, strong person comes forward to lead the club.7 points

You take abuse? You private messaged me, and who knows how many other 'Landers, saying "I win" "Stick that up ya jumper".... You win??! Wow. You are the weakest supporter I've EVER come across. Our club is in crisis, our CEO has just "resigned" and you private message people to say "I Win." Only a fool or a troll would gloat over the situation we are in, and you are clearly both. If you happen to discover any logic one day, please re-read over my comments where I ALWAYS said the MFC know best and if they chose to get rid of him then I totally support it. "Supporters" like Range Rover who do nothing but try to bring the club down are a part of why we're seen as irrelevant and weak. I hope his type get weeded out for the sake of the club I love.7 points

I'm sorry, but this is the biggest load of crap to come out since the beginning of the season. What has occurred is horrendous and hardly needs to be referred to. However, identifying Colin Sylvia as the problem is woefully ignorant and smacks of a cheap and attractive headline. Fact is, those Melbourne supporters whose opinion I respect and who have been to games are pretty positive on Colin. The guy is running hard, particularly defensively, tackling, and unlike some others looks like he is fit enough to play at this level. He should have kicked those goals outside of 50, granted. But shining a light on Colin ahead of about 18 other guys who played on the weekend is just rubbish. I too want him to kick 4 goals a game, but that won't happen, he's not that player. But he is a good one. It's pretty difficult to play well in a team playing as bad as we are.7 points

If I've ignorantly got you all wrong then maybe it's time you offered a little substance to support your position. Glib crowd-pleasing one-liners and a couple of colour pictures doesn't really make your position clear. You were right at the beginning of this thread when you said we've hit rock bottom. Rock bottom is a dangerous dangerous place because people are tired and hurt and vulnerable. The way in which we fight our way out of this hole is very important. Your calls for a radical sink and all removal of key club personnel is disturbing. We've made alot of progress off the park over the past 5 years and our list (believe it or not) has some serious talent that may just become elite. Sacking Bailey straight after 186 was viewed by most as a mistake. Nothing was gained by making the decision so quickly and doing so via a phonecall was a disgrace. If Neeld isn't the right man then another coach will be found. If Schwab is the cancer (and seriously can people stop using this analogy) that so many claim he is then clearly his time will come within the next 6 - 9 months. McLardy is doing his best but his best may not be good enough but sacking him now reduces us to an even greater laughing stock than we are already. Calling upon the AFL to take over is distressing. To me, it says we've given up. Some very smart, experienced, influential, business savvy people support this club. We must be able to form a strong, dynamic board with vision and determination. You amongst others attacked the AFL for the way in which it dealt with the tanking saga and now you want to hand over the reigns to our club.7 points

I am on record earlier today as saying this is what had to happened, and think it is a good move for our football club. That said, we all should always keep in mind that people dedicate a lot of time and hard work to doing what they think is best for our footy club. We might think they have gone down the wrong path at times but they are always trying to do what is best. Good luck to Cameron in whatever he does next.6 points

Coming in on the train [Monday] I figured for maybe 5 volunteers .... & two would be crying before the night was out - I was going to be one!! Arrived after 5.30 to a meeting area full of volunteers, plus two in club colours. Saw Mark Neeld & Neil Craig in the group & turned around thinking wrong office. But it was us. Mark & Neil really mixed into the group [team' photo will be posted] & boosted our project. Punch & Judy wanted to sing the song, but fortunately ......... The night took off from there & we achieved 40 sign ups - nearly best for the year. Great under the circumstances. Three new volunteers joined 'in our darkest hour' & Catherine, Cheryl & Dave did beautifully. Tim, Julian, Geoff, Pete, Judy, Michael & Anne made up the quorum. My feel is that many volunteers & supporters have traditionally been sitting on the fence. These 'dark cloud days' have shuffled the balance to the extent that we have many more deciding now is the time to sign &/or volunteering. [No doubt the despair group has also grown]. The net benefit is our group is stronger & growing. Tx to Mark & Neil for coming along & genuinely getting involved. Great night folks - well done. Lets go again.6 points

Just returned from AAMI park tonight after watching The Storm smash the West Tigers. Sitting 4 rows back and having a great time was Jack Watts, Ricky Pettard (Had a Tigers cap on), Lyndon Dunne. Tom MacDonald, Joel Mcdonald, Chip Frawley & Tom Gilles. I can report the boys where enjoying the game, no alcohol in sight and seemed to be in good spirits. Jack Watts was very animated all game, almost hypo & doing some fairly entertaining dance moves after every Storm Try. Hard to get a read on Jacks real personality, definately no sign of any illness & was the centre of attention bordering on class clown within the group. As shattered as I have been the last two weeks, seeing the boy's up close and personal like that, puts what is happening at the club into a different perspective for me. They could be moping around feeling sorry for themselves but instead decided to view some elite succesful, non AFL sport instead. Perfect distraction to release the pressure valve that is currently being tightened. Not sure what will happen next weekend but I get the feeling these guy's are really hurting and will fire back hard in the coming weeks.5 points

Nineteen asked me to pass on our work tonight on yet another interesting day at MFC Turned up at the G unaware to be greeted by shattered staff, if the CEO is hated by some, the staff loved him 15 of us turned up tonight which was great, Jason, Daniel, Andrew, Cheryl, Geoff, Dave, Michael, Michael, Stephen, Anne, Chelsea, Judith, Trish, Peter and Geoff who had to leave early, thanks to everybody who turned up including the newbies Surprisingly we still managed 22 sign ups but importantly about 300-500 phone calls Some of us managed to chat to Cameron, who made the effort to come and thank us for turning up to support the Club, and yes I shook his hand again I congratulated him on a couple of things that will be a lasting legacy, the emblem and the blazer, the players all love it, and in case any of the doubters want to question, I hand out scarves on Match Day and we had 18yr old Nathan Stark with us last Saturday, I asked him what he thought of the Blazer and he loves it. I have made a point of asking the others as well...so thanks Cameron for giving us an individual identity back...and thanks for the thanks....and the joke about applying for job at AFL HQ The Membership staff really do appreciate the help, so next Monday or Tuesday if you want, contact Nineteen on here.5 points

If by administration you mean the board then I hope you have an idea of people of wealth and business experience who are willing to spend 30 hours a week on their board duties and subject themselves to the brutal media scrutiny that will accompany any failings. I've been attending AGMs since 1988 and in terms of business experience this board is by far the best that he have had. I also don't think that your use of the term 'zero return' is a fair one. There have been demonstratable gains such as the elimination of debt, the move from the Junction Oval slums to AAMI Park, the consolidation of the Bentleigh Club into our accounts and a significantly increased footy department spend. The reality is that in footy terms Year 1 for us was 2012 because that was the first time in decades that we were anywhere near compettitive in terms of facilities AND footy spend. There is hope footy wise. A forward line of Clark(200cms/103kg), Hogan (195cm/97kg) and Dawes (193cm/105kg) will test any defence. Having to man up on the mobile and athletic Clark and Hogan will pose a problem for most teams. Both are as comfortable in the midfield as they are in goal square, not many key defenders are. Add Maxy Gawn (208cm/111Kgs) resting forward from time to time and there will be no opposition that will not be stretched. Even bloody Dustin Fletcher would have to man up! I apologise to those offended by a show of optimism!5 points

It is disgusting the way Demonlanders are wishing ill on Essendon and its players. They are just ordinary blokes playing the game they love and making a quid. You can’t blame them for medical and sports science mismanagement which has compromised the integrity of the entire club. What a travesty if a fine young man was divested of his “Brownlow” just because of drug issues. Don't worry just joking. I hate Essendrug more than any other club. I wish them all the worst. IF THERE IS A GOD, he will let this drug scandal destroy them totally. The image of Jab handing back the Downlow is almost too sweet to contemplate. There supporters are the worst pigs god ever put breath into ( note. two of my brothers are Essendrug members). Why can't a Jumbo crash land on that training facility?5 points

The game against Essendon was the straw that broke the camels back. Watching the Demons just capitulate season after season, watching the players play with zero confidence, hearing all the rumors about division inside the club, watching players leave (not happy Scully left) is heart breaking & draining. It was and is making me feel ill inside. Writing that I would send back my membership and allowing my son to decide who he wants to follow when he is ready, was/is a ridiculous comment made in the heat of the moment. I was looking for my jogging beanie & gloves (yep im back to night running again) last night and found a box of my old demon merchandise. I found my membership scarfs and was immediately flooded with the good memories of the seasons past. I recall the glorious win over Sydney Swans, the come back against Freo @ the G with young Aussie celebrating his goals, The close win against the Crows where the Crows were depleted on the bench, and many more. I came to the realisation that, no matter what happens now, I will always hold the memories that count, and they are the ones that count. And they are the memories I want my son to have with the Demons My initial post was & is a disgrace, please accept my apologies for my ridiculous comments & all that I had offended.5 points

Actually I'm not interested in blame. It's a waste of energy. I want us to get to the root of the problem and make sensible decisions about our future in a professional manner. Talk of protests and strikes and mass sackings will do little to change the perception in the media that we are a basket case. We need to ride out the on-field crap and make decisions that bring us closer together rather than ripping us apart. Those decisions need to me made but not right now when we are at an emotional high point. The reason I mention the media is because they are viewing us as an easy kill right now (a bit like you on this forum) and if we're to roll over and start wielding the axe then they will have won and the perception of weakness will have been reinforced. If we instead bunker down (as it appears we're doing) support the footy dept and then see an improvement on the field over the next month we'll have grown as a club. At the end of the season we can make sound strategic decisions about the direction of our club and our footy department. I appreciate the danger of things not getting better but I'm willing to bet that this week we'll see a much better showing and we may even have a win on the board in less than 11 days. The world is a different place after a win! And I'm certainly not blaming you for what has happened over the past two rounds but right now you're the cheerleader for negativity and sniping on this site and as a consequence people like me might speak out occasionally. You don't seem to like being challenged. You seem to struggle with alternative views. And you're yet to give me any substance apart from the handing over of our entire organization (as if we've gone into liquidation) to the AFL to do with as they please. It's the type of thing a club in their death throws would do. We're not there yet as last nights membership drive shows. Hanging tough in the bad times is difficult RR. I understand if you're not up to it.5 points
