That's not true both got injured at the same time. King rates Jefferson I haven't heard him rate Kentfield.

Neale Daniher once said Chris Lamb would be a great player for the MFC. He was delisted months later.

Coaches say what needs to be said.

Jefferson has a chance to do something but comparing the two is pointless for such fledgling careers.

My brother said Mihocek was cooked when he turned it over against St.Kilda then he went on to kick 3 goals. Steele was always likely to be a good player he's not burdened with having to do everything like he had to at St.Kilda. We've found our replacement for Oliver but we haven't found our replacement for Petracca if we had Petracca we'd be a sneaky chance for the flag.

No 23 you can come up with is a ‘Petracca-away’ from a flag…

If Brody is a 2 year player we could snag a flag on the G ,the way this season is shaping it could be our year or next .And how good is it to see Brody in the Blue and Red and just bursting out of his skin for the DEES .

There is a lot to like about the character and buy-in with Mihocek and Steele. They are not here just for a payday, and if there was any doubt, look at Checkers' arrival with his green Jim's Game hat.

Suggestion is that Lynch plays.

Great news - another selection of a player on one leg

They might not want to bring in TMac of a 5 day break and a lot of running ..,

He was average at Casey imho…. Not to be considered unless it is desperately needed….

How do we get Windsor going? Seemed to find the ball easier in the last quarter when he was at half back, albeit his ball use and decision making were still bad. I think we’ve seen enough of him at centre bounce to know it’s a bit premature to have him in there, time to give someone else a chance as it’s not working.

I thought he was pretty good actually. 23 disposals (18 kicks, 5 handballs), 8 marks, 10 intercept and third most fantasy points (though admittedly that's a rubbish measure) is a pretty good game for a key defender. As noted in the match report:

'Tom McDonald stood tall in defence and across the ground, using his experience to intercept strongly and provide a steady presence behind the ball. He collected 23 disposals, 10 intercept possessions and eight marks'

Love Checkers and Steele and I hope the know how much us members love having them at our club. Great people playing great footy

People can keep writing off Tom McDonald - you have been doing it since at least 2020 and he keeps proving you wrong. The guy is a champion of this club and still has a significant role to play this year in a defence that still looks unbalanced and unsettled.

If Petty misses, there is absolutely no reason why McDonald won't replace him, particularly with Lynch looking more likely to play.

You’re dreaming, if we had Petracca we’d have his salary, his dislike for the club and none of the draft picks.

Yep he doesn't know how to find the pill. I dont think he has it what it takes to be a full time midfielder. His body is ultimately setup for an outside role...either off half back or on the wing for now until he can develop his inside craft. Problem is, his kicking and decision making as you have said needs to have some work done.

Do we know if kozzy is clear to play yet? When does the MRO make their decision on that?

He has not been cited.

Off topic (of selection), but on theme (of this game), this is an interesting read. And there's a reference to our 'Bluey' (the first one) at its very end.

Don’t know much about Richmond’s team but read they’ll most likely have lynch in. Do they have a tall forward line? Fast? Disco to lynch maybe? Selection will be interesting due to short break but have to remember Richmond also have the shorty day break

Well why is the Kevin Bartlett cup being played on the king's birthday?

We've had a habit of having young talls 'breakout' in this match over the years.

Jesse Hogan in 2015 when he did a number on Alex Rance.

JVR in 2023 with his three goal final quarter.

Disco Turner in 2024 in his first game as a forward kicking three.

Based on that logic, I'm backing in Matty Jefferson for a few snags this weekend.

A lot of people don't get the interchange rule. By way of explanation when we increased the bench to 5 they did not increase the number of interchanges. It remained at 75.

Heath gets 27% game time and some think that is a waste but it's not.

Lets say you replace Heath with Lindsay. You would automatically try and give Lindsay 70% game time at least. You then look at your lowest value player and lets say it is Laurie. You'd still want to give him at least 60% game time.

That means your better players spend less time on the ground. Do you really want to reduce 7 of your better players game time by 5%, just so the least valuable player gets it.

I bought tickets to Friday night game for myself, my son and a Richmond supporting friend. We are sitting in m34, when do I tell him that we are sitting near our cheer squad?😂

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
