Well for heavens sake don't change your name to Max or Kozzie.

Save Fritsch for finals

Who is being led astray by info posted on a fan forum

You have to be joking right?

People claim to be in the know and build their reputation then feed everyone some inaccurate news and then it turns out not to be true.

It is no different than the media which 99% of people here get triggered by on a regular basis.

Its not a place where you say whatever you like

No break is good news. Still a bummer though as he is seriously looking the goods in this system.

Don't risk it.

It’s a fan forum, you understand that right? People hear things, they post it, some turn out true, some don’t. Or as in this case it turns out partially true. I take it you’ve never added mayo to a story, as with a ham and salad, the mayo’s what brings us all together.

You didn’t answer my question

What posters have been led astray by this info? Were you?

Hmmm Fritsch plays we are a chance

He doesn’t we lose, he sure didn’t look injured last weekend, kicking goals from 55 out and marking strongly

I really want to pick the Demons, but

I love a good witch hunt for someone who dares tell us what they’ve heard. The audacity!

In general this place has some great intel. Let’s not make the bar so high that we scare people away from sharing. That’s no fun.

So is Fritsch "in doubt" for this week or out injured for 6? That's a wide gamut of possibilities...

wait, what’s happened to his gamut?

His dog bit it.

Four goals against Carlton looked great. I'll give Fritta that. But I've been watching Bayley Fritsch for eight seasons now, and Sunday felt familiar. The ball raining into an open forward line, Carlton's defense scrambling, Pickett doing the heavy lifting. Fritsch was in the right spot. He usually is. The question is what happens when he isn't.

I pulled his career data from Wheelo Ratings and compared him against five peers who kicked similar tallies in 2025: Zurhaar (38 goals), Higgins (46), Fogarty (40), Curtis (38) and Gunston (62). The picture that emerges is one I suspect many of us have sensed but struggled to articulate.

His goal assists sit at 0.5 per game — lowest of the peer group, whose average is 0.64. Score involvement percentage of 22.5% — again lowest. He is involved in fewer than one in four scores his team registers. When he gets the ball, he looks for goal. When he doesn't, he waits. That's not a caricature but rather it's what the numbers say.

Defensively: 1.7 tackles per game against a group average of 2.3. Tackles inside 50 — the truest measure of forward pressure — just 0.7, against 1.1. Pressure acts 9.1, group average 12.0. Curtis and Higgins do nearly twice the defensive work.

Fogarty is the most instructive comparison — similarly passive, similar pressure numbers. But Fogarty's career accuracy is 59.9%. If you're going to be a pure finisher, be elite at finishing. Fritsch at 52% last season isn't quite making that case.

He's a good footballer. He's not irreplaceable. King has options, and this week is a chance to use them.

PS. I haven't figured out how to statistically track and make meaning out of his penchant for regularly burning teammates.

I’m a certified Fritsch hater but he’s a career average of 63% accuracy and went well above that when we were a good side. Last season he struggled in a team that couldn’t generate scores.

Give him good looks in a functioning forward line and he converts.

He should be replaceable but the 2 most likely replacements in Melk and Jeffo aren’t fully fit.

Now, the ball hogging I won’t defend! But he does need to be a touch selfish at times to kick goals like the top class finish in the come back.

On the associated subject, as I was led to believe that Kingy isn't afraid to mention previous losses mistakes, I would be thinking there are a few characteristics about this match up that could just make it quite interesting.

Disco is back!

Hard to get a gauge on who our other IN will be from that extended bench.

Laurie is probably the most like for like replacement for Cross but always seems to be out of favour.

Melksham named on the extended bench as Fritsch backup perhaps?

Are we underselling a potential Luker 'Luka' Kentfield debut possibility....

It will be Melksham and Turner for Cross and Jiath.

What’s the story with Rivers?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
