POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Fremantle

We are not the first team that will get thrashed by freo.

They really need to review that 1st quarter & all the fumbles & mistakes we made

It's the reality of where we're at. We were a bottom for side last year & came up against a top 8 team.

Next week will tell us if we've learnt anything. Losing turner really hurt

Outclassed, outplayed, smashed at clearance’s and on the turnover. Poor disposal ran riot and we looked completely rattled at times yet still won two qtrs and 9 goals to 10 after qtr time.

Run over by the reality bus tonight. A number of disappointing performances.

Freo will crumble at the pointy end of the year. Not a fan of their Temu Papley in the No.20 guernsey.

Two half decent quarters but that felt like more than 48 points.

Max is a warrior. Steele and Langdon also worked hard.

Langford and Lindsay are a concerning story so far in 2026. Langford can't find the football and Lindsay seems to have lost his composure with ball in hand.

Losing Disco early (who was looking ok) hurt us big time and exposed Petty big time.

Reality check. We have work to do. It could have been a lot worse, we kept at it so we are fit enough.

I liked that we didn't put up the white flag after quarter time

Really disappointed that we did not play anything like we did last week. Better opposition yes, but we didn't even present options for the run and gun.

2 decent quarters 2 poor quarters

We stuck to the task and kept the scoreline respectable.

Max our best easily

Skills not great. And our poor start cost us any chance of a win

Plenty of work ahead for Kingy

Overall a par performance given where we are as a team

The lack of midfield depth was scary. Windsor looks a mile off it, and Langford further behind than him.

And some question why we still need JV.

Dees seriously poor this week - crash landing !!

X Turnovers turnovers turnovers

X Poor skills - Poor decisions

X Second to the footy

X Bombing it inside 50 - allowing Freo to intercept

X Losing clearances

X JVR parachute hands again

X Missed tackles - Gotta lock it in

X lazy disposals Kozzy Jiath Riv

👍🏻Use the footy through the corridor. We used it a few times and got scores

👍🏻Max is a warrior. 100% effort every week.

Need MAX HEATH in !! Can’t have Gawn wrecked. Can’t have JVR thrown into the ruck.

Need ANW in !! Small defender. Dudley could have kicked 6 !! Bolton brought his own footy

Can't help but feel that we thought Langford and Lindsay were were ready for 4 quarters every week but it isn't the case.

Freo showed us where we are right now.

Way too fumbly and just generally outrun by a much better team. At least we kept running and trying, I’ll take an 8 goal loss.

Last week the kids (and Maxy) gave us cause for excitement, and this week it was the old boys who kept us in it.

We will lose a fair bit this year, so we just gotta dust ourselves off and try again. We should be able to bounce back against the blues.

If we are playing best 25 every week, Windsor and Langford need to be considered for a run in the 2s. Langford especially looks like he is too slow for AFL. Gets exposed in the middle hence why on the wing. I was expecting him to be more imposing this year.

Not suggesting it’s why we lost but that was a classic Perth umpiring display.

Shocking and consistently disgraceful umpiring didn’t help us out one bit.

Holding the ball only paid for one team out west.

Posting that Langford, Lindsay not afl std, wow 2nd year players only 2nd preseason, how long did it take for our mids who departed to be guns??? , got beaten by a team who’s list is far more developed leaning vs a new coach s new game plan whilst developing

there is nothing to come in from casey

they have no midfield from the dees at all, with laurie moving to a permanent - and worthless - half forward role

The reality check that was always coming.

Some positives. Steele had a good game. Tholstrup has found his niche. Sharp looking like he can fill the empty ANB void that’s been lacking for a couple of years. Gawn on track for AA blazer #9. Lever a bit better after last week.

Still, incredibly disappointed to lose in that fashion. It’s harsh to go after young players, but I’d expect a lot more from Langford and Lindsay in year 2. Just looking at Murphy Reid FFS. Still haven’t seen anything in Trelle that justifies the draft pick either. Will give him time.

We were so fumbly. To really open up a team on transition, you’ve got to be clean.

The mids, the newer less experienced ones, have about 6 weeks to get to speed. Otherwise I feel we’ll stack the midfield with more mature players to keep us competitive.
