There is a lot of work to be done but we should have a pretty good idea if we're in good hands or not by the end of this season.

In the 6 months prior to starting I know he had many meetings with stakeholders to gauge the lay of the land.

He walked most Thursdays with Goodwin around the Tan.

My expectations of him were very low coming from an Industry Body and a non-football background but he hasn't placed a foot wrong yet IMO. And he has taken some bold decisions (and/or convinced others to do so) that I didn't see coming. Eg I thiought his 'closeness' to Goodwin would result in Goodwin staying.

We all get wrapped up in the players but its the club I follow. Players come and go and whilst our Premiership heroes hold a special place once they start to destroy the fabric of the place and inhibit progress hard decisions need to be made.

An outsider coming in (like a Peter jackson) can be more clear eyed about decisions that need to be made to move forward. Workplaces can become toxic - and the MFC clearly was both on field and off - leading to making tough decisions.

If you look simply at the trajectory of our club on field it could not stay the same with any expectation of different results.

I applaud the decisions whether or not they turn out to be the right ones. The whole vibe of the players and the club has been renewed and there is an excitement about the what is in store.

No ones calling the results yet but if you read above I don't think we had a choice.

Footy clubs are filled with people with passion and less so with pragmatic business decision makers.

We have had a big clean out on and off the field and I am happy we can enjoy the ride once again,

Those same supporters were also highly critical of the media when they were pretty much reporting the exact same thing that Guerra and Smith just acknowledged that were actually happening.

I like Steven king. He’s no nonsense. No bs corporate speak from him. I reckon the players will like and respond to him.

Whether that translates into him being a good head coach that can deliver wins only time will tell but I’m positive about his prospects.

At Mental Demons on Wednesday night Max stated that Petracca refused to meet with King. Speaks volumes as to where the relationship was at.

I like this quote from King: “The issue isn’t teaching them the new game plan, it’s giving them the freedom to unlearn the old one. It’s removing components and letting them play instinctively”

He adds that the question remains - when challenged, “will we revert to the past or have the courage to keep moving forward together?”.

But they did talk on the phone - King was pretty busy with the GF at the time. We don't know the details of that discussion.

And from what we now know Lamb was hell bent on moving him, Oliver and May out. Trac would have known that from the exit interviews, mfc grapevine etc so it would be fair to say there was little value in meeting with King.

I understand your sentiment, but as Dazzle has stated, there'll be time - potentially decades - to revere their onfield exploits.

More than anything right now, this club needs some refreshing honesty and introspection.

It a breath of fresh air listening to King explain things so matter of factly. I tune out or start playing footy cliche bingo listening to some of the other coaches. Especially the Buckley and Voss types, full of ego and expertise. Imagine having to listen to figjam enlightening us each week on how the game should be played. No thanks!

I believe there a lot of things that happened in the last two years that we will never heard about. It appears we wanted Oliver gone at any price. We virtually gave him to the giants. There is a lot more to his story that we will probably ever know. Mysterious visits to hospital. Time taken off for " personal issues". I just hope that this year we can finish the year in a mid ladder position.

Hopefully we have thrown the babies out with the bathwater

The SEN interview put that out for all to see.

It seems winning a premiership covered up a lot of cracks & gave people a pass to get away with things & people not being held accountable for bad decisions

You don't need to know any more about Oliver than the deal we took to extract Clarry from the club. It speaks for itself.
