New jumper sponsors?

Featured Replies

Any insights of what the sponsorships are worth $$$

I worked in the lubricants and Penrith were a major competitor their sponsorships in motor racing is substantial but unsure if this would translate to an AfL club

Is a better sponsor a sponsor with a logo that looks better on our jumper or a sponsor that pays the most dollars. Some people are confusing the two.

How would glasses help a group that is blind see better?

Good question. Not to mention they're deaf as well - god knows I've pointed out their mistakes to them from the stands countless times, without ever having been heard.

Am I the only one ecstatic to see the MFC monogram removed from the jumper?

I like it originally but feel it had ran its race.

Penrite are a successful and well known Australian brand based in Melbourne so in this sense they look like a good commercial partner.

Drivers Depot on the other hand raises a lot of concerns. A very generic AI website, no ownership details, limited information available anywhere. I’m still unsure if it’s fuel card or finance. Alarm bells which align with what I was told about us struggling to replace Hertz for the back of jumper slot.

Now that one of our main sponsors is a fuel card this is more like the Melbourne I'm familiar with.

Less if no fans buy the jumper cos the sponsors are ugly

Yeah it’s a head scratcher. Discount Fuel company that provides book keeping services? Umm ok

Perhaps the clubs announcement of a new major partner will have some context on this start up. Oh wait..

not like the MFC to keep us in the dark 🙃

I’m getting Lightening McQueen vibes, but instead of Rust-eze Medicated Bumper Ointment sponsor it’s Penrite, let’s hope it means how fast we’re going to play…..

A Google search of Drivers Depot gives scam/spam vibes. Generic website, no About us, they advertise using a Facebook account. Absolutely no presence online. Yet they have the $ to sponsor an afl club?

Penrite is a good get. Will there be email offers of discounted lube after a win?

Penrite have no lube left after it was all used on the MFC by Drivers Depot who have secured a spot on the back of our once famous guernsey from a back room of a flat in Craigieburn.

It might happen quicker.

Penrite is a seriously good company that has competed with large international companies in the Auto lubrication field and won. A top company to have as a MFC sponsor.

I hope Drivers Depot paid up front.

You really would like to think so.

They’re going to get a massive amount of exposure on Anzac eve and Kings B’day.

Yeah I had a look myself and they appear to be barely 10 months old, seem to have almost no brand presence anywhere else, and pretty opaque services on offer. Definitely getting Energy Watch vibes. Hopefully we've had a look at the owner's facebook page 😬

From what I could find on ‘Drivers Depot’:

Drivers Depot is an Australian company (THE DRIVERS DEPOT PTY LTD, ABN 85 679 929 278) based in Victoria that offers services targeted at commercial truck drivers, owner-operators, and related businesses. It provides fuel cards with discounts at over 15,000 locations (claiming coverage of 90% of fuel sites nationwide), financing options (through “Drivers Depot Money” with quick approvals), access to a network of suppliers for vehicle repairs and maintenance, a marketplace for buying/selling parts, tools for tracking hours/expenses/reports, and training resources on industry rules and skills. Users can apply for a fuel card online, use it for fuel/maintenance/repairs with no card fees for financing customers, and benefit from nationwide support to reduce costs and paperwork.

The company was registered in August 2024 and appears relatively new, with limited public footprint. No customer reviews (positive or negative) were found across major sites like Trustpilot, Reddit threads, or review aggregators. One Reddit comment in a discussion about sports sponsorships called the website a potential scam, citing AI-generated images and poor formatting as reasons for suspicion.  However, no confirmed scam reports, complaints, or regulatory actions were identified in searches. It has a valid ABN, a contact phone number (0466 516 952), and promotes itself via social media like Facebook.

Thanks for that research ET I guess AFL is a good way to get Brand Recognition, maybe we are on a percentage of their sales, not sure how it works with a Start Up company. Does it have to have AFL approval?

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
