Good choice. Doing nothing, probably only thing that could be said is that his gameplay didn’t suit goodies style, maybe it would have for Kingy, but either way good to have another free spot for another player to get a crack.

Taj gave it his best. Be proud young fella, you got to play a few AFL games, something most only dream of.

Father and Son bit of history there. It was initiated originally by the VFL post WW2 with MFC being an early beneficiary with Ronald Dale Barassi being cleared to the Demons.

Amongst those to come to the club by this pathway there has been some outstanding players. Ron Barassi numero uno, Don, Denis and Ted Cordner, Ken Emselle, Big Bob Johnson, John Lord and Jack Viney. All were members of MFC premiership teams.

8 out of a total of 33 father-sons to play for the Demons tasted ultimate success in Australian Rules. Of the others the talent may have been there but not the opportunity.

It could be argued the fathers in a number of the ‘pairings’ had more significant football careers with or without premiership success.

So in reality father-son recruitment is no guarantee to a successful footy career. The percentage strike rate based on premiership success alone is roughly 1 in 4 or 25%.

So Taj Woewodin was battling against the odds. To astute observers with a bit of history. He never had the flair of his father Brownlow medal winner Shane, who covered the ground in dashing style and was a penetrating kick.

Nonetheless Taj is a determined young bloke with plenty of courage and ‘grunt’. Wish you well son.

Sad in its own way, but he wasn't showing too much that could keep him at AFL level consistently. Another one of the multitude of borderline players who become another "not quite" story. This can be a brutal industry.

Quietly discuss but Casey is a virtual graveyard for player development.

Why.. I have my own theories (four years of imitating Goodwins boundary line defensive model) but is it deeper? Is the VFL itself a graveyard

Just don't go to Collingwood.

Pity he didn't make it. As noted above. What has happened to our player development. Do we need to improve it as so many of our younger players who were not 1st round picks rarely make it.

It also shows that only a small percentage of Father/Sons become great players and the rule should remain. the pies and Brisbane sons are an exception.

I'm disappointed for taj. Although he has been with us for 4 years.

Could we take him back to put on our rookie list?

Unfortunately he played that awful game against nth in r2 & I still remember that terrible turnover he did in the middle of the ground which cost us a goal. Although that day he wasn't alone.

Goody dropped him after that & didn't play him again.

So that's 2 father/sons gone, meanwhile we look at the ashcroft brothers at Brisbane flourishing winning flags & norm smiths.

At least viney was a good recruit
