He is a better kick to start.

He can't be particularly good if the Saints traded him for a junk pick and are paying some of his wage

Same pick as Oliver yeah?

A 'salary dump' of sorts. They're gonna have a hefty wages bill with NWM and TDK and ...

If he was still good they would of found a way to fit him into the cap

Feels like a Jack Billings situation again

New to football?

This appears to be a development trade. Natural leader and known clubman, being given the flick (so much like James McDonald) so we swoop. I am not sure we can play him and Viney on the ground at the same time but happy to be proven wrong.

But his influence on Langford, Lindsay, Windsor, and especially the Kolt might be a stroke of genius. I really like it if development is his main offering.

Nice to see some have eyes 😉

So I thought we were getting a good player in billings but was disappointed.

However I'm a bit more hopeful with Steele. He obviously comes with leadership experience & I'm pretty sure he's a good ball user.

I don’t want to rain on your parade, but he can butcher the ball. But he has the same professionalism as Trac on the training track and is good in the contest. Being a past captain he will lead the way in many areas Trac did not these past two years.

Nowhere near as inspirational on field as Trac.

Smart move. Same same as Oliver in his current form, but also better citizen and we move past the headlines

Dont want to rain on yours either... but Yraccs frustrations and petulance didn't quite qualify as 'inspirational'

There's a reason both were let go...

I hear you Bub, I was referencing prior to Kings Birthday 2024 and his infield play. Steele provides a lot to our list.

Yep, we have let go two past champions (emphasize past) who did not have one ounce of leadership in them and acted as spoilt brats and receive an outstanding person in Steele who is a leader (on and off the field) and will push and encourage our young mids to take over the mantle. Looking forward to what the future brings.

Welcome Steelo, great to have you on board.

Great citizen and leader from what I hear within the Saints.

Set the tone

Agree on all of that.

Also this might just be me, but I lowkey see this as a long winded Brayshaw replacement. Versatile, leader, good culture guy and by all reports just a good human being. All of which Gus brought in spades

Ahhh 3 year deal. He gets the Lamb special.

Would be nice to have players join us because they see the opportunity to build something - especially when their current club have told them to pack up and go - without having to pay the extra year for once.

He is 29, same as Tracc.

Saints are paying some of first 2 years salary.

Will be 31 before 3rd season starts, hardly ancient.

Hard to get guys to change clubs for a 2 year deal.

I can’t believe I am saying this, but I agree with Tom Morris. Most underrated story and move this trade period. We have a similar player to one we’ve lost, who is an exemplary character, and only three weeks ago was the captain of the Saints. Yes it feels as though he has been squeezed out a bit at the Saints, but we should be stoked to have landed this bloke. He will know King from his time at the Saints. I reckon this is a huge get for where we are at and offsets the losses of Tracc and Oliver. People comparing to Billings have rocks in their head.

Are we now the most foreign legion team of the league? Steele, Mihocek, Jiath, Heath, May, Lever, Langdon, Melksham, Culley, Sharp, Campbell, McAdam.

If so, let's embrace it, and achieve like this mob (albeit their tag had interstate, rather than interclub, roots):
