Then again perhaps there was a Cinderella clause, if your foot can fit into the boot that matches Jeff White’s face!

Can believe our media release didn’t start with according to Wilson, McClure, Barrett & Co. no matter when what how who our process was flawed and that’s how we ended up picking the horror writer Stephen King!

No hard feelings. I heard Jeff got a real kick out of the appointment.

It's time to go Steven King thread?

At the moment he hasn't started well, Wanted to shaft Clarry, Tracc, and May! Watch this space!

There's just no way with the list we're going to have that we win more than 5 games next year. You'd hope that behind closed doors that was the expectation that was set.

End of the day, we have a history of players underperforming...if he can somehow get this group across the board to give max effort and perform to their level, then maybe it won't be a complete disaster. Watching a team perform to their level is fine...watching talented people constantly botch things under pressure is harder to watch (e.g. our last 4 years).

I just have a really uneasy feeling about this regime right now. Even the potential assistants that are being spoken about are uninspiring.

He couldn’t have started better…

He's doing the first part very well. can't fault it

The next part is much harder. raising the standards, changing the game style and making us competitive

And bringing quality back in

Getting rid of quality players, regardless of their issues, is very easy

One of the lads I know who played with Kingy for a few years at the catters thinks we got an absolute ripper as coach. Very intelligent and respectful guy who loves a laugh with the lads but was the ultimate professional.

So far, I think he's doing the right thing. We won stuff all with CP & CO really not exactly setting the world on fire or adding anything overly great. They also never took control of a game or single handedly got us a win like we should be expecting of our superstars.

With so much drama about the two, I'm sad to see them go but 100% back the decision and think it's the right move for the club.

I also respect King for making a tough call that could put additional pressure on him if the team doesn't perform - just shows he's backing himself in for the long run.

I think King has genuinely put the club first with what he is doing, can’t argue with that.

He’s got a clear direction and he’s following it - I am optimistic we might see a few more happier players next year

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
