Currently .. there's a kind of hush

Apparently we are in the box seat to land him according to Josh Gabelich due to the King connection

Heard that too, Gaeblich is similar to Twomey in terms of having good sources.

We won’t be going for Cox as he is A Must To Avoid.

Where'd he say it?

Getting Flanders immediately gives us an immediate upgrade on McVee

I ponder a 3 way deal...

Dees get Flanders for McVee and a 2nd rounder, Freo give 11 and get McVee and 2nd rounder, GC give Flanders, get 11

But he's not an upgrade on Trac if he leaves. And no way are Freo doing that deal.

SEN with Kane and Kingy

Sam Flanders

“Sam Flanders met with four clubs last week in Melbourne – St Kilda, Melbourne, Essendon and Carlton.

“He’s got a couple of offers in; he’s going to wait for all four offers to come to his manager before he makes a decision. Got two years to run with the Gold Coast Suns, but the view is now he’ll return to Victoria and play for one of those clubs.

“I think Melbourne is in the box seat because of his strong relationship with Steven King. I think that certainly helps given the time they spent at the Gold Coats Suns, interim coach at the back end of 2023.

“He needs a fresh start, he wants to play more in the midfield, he’s been squeezed in the last 18 months under Damien Hardwick.

“As Sam Edmund reported late last week, St Kilda has come very hard for Sam Flanders, so that spending spree appears to continue.”

King:“For his football, should he go to St Kilda, or should he go to Melbourne? I just think he’s going to get more opportunity at St Kilda.

Cornes: “St Kilda is a better proposition for him. I’d rather be playing at St Kilda than Melbourne – they seem a complete mess the Dees, don’t they?”

King: “Complete mess is strong.”

Cornes: “Their best player (Christian Petracca) wants out, (Judd) McVee is gone, who’s pulling the strings? New coach comes in… I’d rather go to the Saints.”

King: “I agree.”

Gabelich: “Melbourne is clearly going to be a big talking point in the trade period. They are going to be as active as anyone for who’s coming and who’s going.”

But he has got a lovely daughter

Cornes’ comments are moronic. He hates Green. Hates the MFC and never has anything positive to say. We have moved the coach. Appointed King. Are in the process of rejuvenating the list. He can [censored] off. St Kilda are nowhere near it and have moneyballed next season. They won’t win it and will be back to square one in no time.

This should be in the Media Madness thread also. They are 99% morons and shill either for their own club or the top 4.

Get ready for the whole “why would anyone go to Melbourne” narrative to be run 10273 times per day as Trade Radio starts in 2 hours and runs for 2.5 weeks. Kane’s on every day!

Cornes made a righteous [censored] of himself at the wrong time in the GF. He was talking up Geelong 5 minutes before 3/4 time and basically saying Brisbane were cooked and barely before he takes his next breath Brisbane bust the game open. He sounds smooth but on air but no one can smell the [censored] he talks. Only hear it.

Then watch us make good deals and scoop up some good players that see value in our list and like what King is saying.

Yesterday King was at fault for McVee leaving, now he’s the reason we may land Flanders.

Love Demonland.

Both things can be true though:

King on Judd - (maybe) no while I'm coach everyone plays a team game and while I'll give players opportunity to expand and extend their capabilities, team comes first. I want you to play with flair, but I see you as a defender first and we'll see where things go.

Flanders likes King from his time at GC and feels like he can trust King from his experience with him as both an assistant and short term senior coach.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
