September 23Sep 23 i thought we were offering a 2+1 offer, where if he hits his triggers in the first two years then the third rolls on accordingly?
September 23Sep 23 Why are we even contemplating dealing with Collingwood ? ..They only give us the leftovers .Surely by now we have learned our lesson from Chris Dawes, Harry O Brien ,Ben Kennedy and whoever.Sure Henry Coles and Flash Gordon were good pick ups but that's hardly recent .

September 24Sep 24 Sounds like we have offered more money plus perhaps an extra yearNot thrilled to say the least..."He is 32, turning 33 next year. Melbourne is at the front of the queue. They've got a great offer on the table for him, and I don't think you could begrudge him (leaving). This is a guy that started his AFL career at 24. He's been a warrior, a premiership player for Collingwood, but they just can't match the money."And they probably can't match the years, given the age and stage. Some of the issues around his body in the last couple of years, clearly hampered by the dislocated toe from the qualifying final in Saturday's prelim."https://au.news.yahoo.com/sydney-swans-player-floated-as-potential-replacement-if-brody-mihocek-departs-collingwood-054632621.html

Massively overated player, glad to say, we dodged a bullet!Crazy isn’t it, he either has dropped form tremendously or hasn’t adjusted to the team, state or gameplay. Glad we missed out as you said.

Whether the last 2 are AFL standard remains in question.
September 24Sep 24 Mihocek is 33 in Feb. A battered 33 as well.Offering 3 years doesn't sound like a winner move.

September 25Sep 25 Why on Earth would we consider recruiting Mihocek? It would be an admission that we are not confident that we can develop JvR into a key forward.Furthermore, in Steven May, we already have a player similar in size and experience to Mihocek, albeit one year older, who could assist in JvR's progress by way of 'occupying' a big defender.

I see no reason why he couldn't translate his leadership skills to our forward line.Furthermore, JvR has on-field coaches in Melksham and Fritta. Hopefully King will play him as a permanent forward and he'll get an assistant coach who can progress his skills. Something both Stafford and Chaplin have failed at.BTW Petty takes May's spot in my team. Edited September 25Sep 25 by M_9
September 25Sep 25 His performance in the Prelim was awfulStats: 0 Behinds, 0 Goals, 0 Contested Marks, 1 Mark, 7 Disposals. I can't believe we're offering 3. Please say it isn't so.
September 25Sep 25 Instead of exposing players who are not good enough or ready - we should have thrown too much money to players like this since 2022.Jefferson shouldn’t have played this year, I won’t go on, but we threw people to the wolves 2008-2013 and I thought we did that with our talls in 2024/25.
September 25Sep 25 The only reason for Mihocek would be if he could fill a similar function to BBB when he came across from North. BBB never took the competition by storm when with us, but he was vital to the structure and system. He was never a strong contested mark but if you didn't respect him he kicked goals and created goals around him. Perhaps having Mihocek and JVR as forwards, with Fritsch, Kozzie, Chandler etc... around them appeals to what new coach King wants to build?
September 25Sep 25 Seems that Elliot is exploring a move from Collingwood to GCS for more money and an extra year.Must be some real salary cap pressure at the magpiesCollingwood have only a certain amount to spend under their salary cap, having outlaid more than $850,000 per season on long-term contracts for both Dan Houston and Harry Perryman last year. They have a squad replete with mature players, and relatively few youngsters on the minimum, compared with rivals.https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/billy-over-brody-why-the-pies-have-to-make-elliott-their-priority-20250925-p5mxtq.html Edited September 25Sep 25 by Diamond_Jim
September 25Sep 25 My hope of the situation now is we make him do a medical and than instantly and publicly withdraw all offers knowing he’s cooked. And have him crawl back to Collingwood. Nothing good comes from trading with them. We give them steel men of value like Howes and Dunn who are serviceable until beyond expectation and they give us wilted picks like Kennedy or headaches like heritier. Let’s not forget the damage Neeld did to the club. Lose their number. Better yet block it.
