We all know that the umpiring last night was disgraceful.

The next question I guess is whether it was misconduct, or simple incompetence?

If it’s the “noise of affirmation”, can we put some noise cancelling headphones on these guys, or give them some training on not being easily influenced?

They need to find some cantankerous bastards like me to umpire. If I heard the crowd roar for a free kick my immediate reaction would be do to the exact opposite.

The umps were bad as was the Dogs goal kicking BUT how interesting from a Demons perspective that neither team could stop the other from scoring.

It actually gave me hope that we could beat the Dogs if we can continue to improve ball movement and maintain some defensive structure.

Always disappointed when Geelong wins, BUT

Melbourne are now outright best results over the last five games.

On a five-game basis we are top of the ladder, and we just beat the reigning premiers!

Can you caveat a woot woot?

Damp squib for Friday Night Footy tonight

Does anyone care which order these 2 finish in the bottom 4?

Three of the takeaways from that match and the pies are also doing is limiting the easy kick outs from the opposition and not all forward line players pushing up the ground to be in the contest and players not being sucked into the contest when they don't have to, we did something similar in the last quarter last week and I hope that continues.

Yep an Bumbers wooden spoon would be magnificent

And Sheedy should have to receive it so he could make a speech all about himself

The battle between 37yo Goldy and Samson Ryan is going to a beauty

Balta, Lynch and Nank all out will be far to much for the Tigers

Expect a 50 pt win the druggies 🤢

How they'd be winning if he was coaching.

May they wallow in the bottom end of the ladder forever.

Can Max play till he’s 37.?

Why not?

Tigers half back line to Bummers half back line playing kick to kick. Some serious poor work through half forward from both teams. I think my Kindle is calling me.

And after last night’s golden run Chris Scott had the audacity to complain about the edge technology & the decision that went against Dempsey

Hugo Ralphsmith is a very good player these days. Rhyan Mansell is too.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
