These changes take me back to the forward line that looked lost and uncompetitive at ground level. I would love to be proved wrong but i just donโ€™t see us being able to compete at ground level with those selected.

Jeffo and JVr are both pretty good at ground level.

Why would anyone put this much pressure on a kid thatโ€™s played 2 games???

Iโ€™m not sure me saying this on Demonland puts any pressure on him. My point is for us to win he needs to play a role and play it well.

Plus we have shifted Sparrow forward and added Kolt and Spargs

And koz, who obviously wasn't in the round one and two teams when jvr, jeffo nd fritter last played together.

Given Viney went into protocols today, he might miss next week as well given the 10 day rule.

Was it delayed symptoms from the hit or a training incident?

Marvee ... no super tagger :(

Turner to go back as intercepting 3rd tall perhaps. Much prefer 2 talls in the forward line than one, if nothing else other than to give Max an adequate chop out while maintaining somewhat of an aerial presence forward.

I don't mind these changes.

Would just remind folks that within the last 5 weeks weโ€™ve had plenty of posters suggest that Viney and Melksham are past it and Petty is useless.

Now it feels devastating that theyโ€™re all out.

Hopefully JVR and Jeffo surprise us and we all hope theyโ€™re in the side the rest of the season.

Spazz?

I think his pressure inside 50 has become too important the last few weeks, but maybe they'll sacrifice some of that.

I saw on X that"Clap for Clarry" is a thing that is happening on Saturday. 13 minute mark first quarter. Clap one of our all time greats to show our support.

These things are always a bit odd, but this seems a good cause. If the cheers squad is driving it, I reckon they'll get some crowd support. If it's just some random trying to start it himself, well it'll be over pretty quickly!

Glad we're not playing Collingwood because I think we all know what would happen.

In the MFC article it said the symptoms were reported by Viney at training, not because of a training incident. Had the same worry, would think 10 days from WC match, but not a Dr and TBH if he needs it take a extra game, Have never ever seen him play up a knock, he looked like he felt it in game.

The problem is fritsch plays like a tall as well so you are effectively playing 3 talls, Iโ€™m not sure it works unless they are all of a high quality. Given there output I think we look much better just playing 2 and taking an extra mid size player like melksham. I suspect maybe they will use fritsch in that role this week, which I canโ€™t see working out.

Yes id like the many regulars who were scathing of Chandler also in the first few rounds to formally apologise now. thank you

I would love Clarry to get 40 good possessions and shut everyone up.

Yep

Jeffo, Fritsch and Spargo. Form not warranted their selection. Like to see 5 goals and 10 tackles from these 3 combined. Thatโ€™s par. Weโ€™ll see on Saturday afternoon.

We will get smashed, weโ€™re not playing well enough to get anywhere near hawthorn, itโ€™ll 60-70 points

Which allows Koz to play more time forward. In the past (when playing significantly more minutes forward) he has been our best F50 pressure player.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
