Not many Casey players putting their hands up. Could simply be May for Turner though suspect McVee will make his way in as well.

McVee and May will come in if ready

I don't want to burst the bubble but I don't think 100 point scores are sustainable with Fritsch and JVR in the magoos, even if they didn't dominate

Possibly but we had more effort in the f50 today.

Petty plays the role better than JVR and I thought the absence of Fritta allowed us an extra small to put pressure when the ball hits the ground. Fullerton didn’t do much but competed and bough ball to ground. JVT and Fritta often get caught out of position and the turnover is very damaging.

May and McVee are certainties. Difficult to drop players after today's win, but Turner is a definite out and Sharp and Melksham were probably our worst.

It's our home game so after today's win hopefully it will bring some more fans through the gates.

If mays good to go then I guess he's in.

I know it won't happen but mcvee could come in for salem. Gee he butchered it today at times

Turner out with concussion, Tholstrup will be watched closely for any late symptoms during the week you would think.

Sparrow still needs a run in the twos, barely sighted again. Spargo is too slow for AFL.

Out : Turner, Sparrow, Spargo.

In : May, McVee, Culley

Spargo, not the when quickest but was solid today. 19 disposals, 3 tackles in f50, 7 score involvements, 14 pressure acts etc, only knock on his game was his miss

Absolute must win to build some momentum

Culley? Based on what? No.

Sharp has to go. Once again, just adds nothing.

McVee and May will come in with Turner the out.

Tell you what though, i watched Ollie Sestan today and he was bloody impressive off half back. With us winning, I highly doubt he comes in next week but he'll certainly be very close over the next few weeks.

In the first half particularly, Spargos movement was instrumental in creating space in the forward line.

He won't be dropped.

Yeah, Salem made a few errors but I thought he played quite well, otherwise

23 possessions at 83% DE and was involved in a lot of chained plays. 3 clangers not great though, especially for a backman

However, from an overall perspective we turned it over 58 times (not too bad) but our overall DE ran at 78% (which is quite acceptable)

I'd give Salem 6.5 or 7 out of 10 today. Solid enough but just needs to cut out the clangers

What game did you watch today? Played his best game in recent memory and probably in our best 10 on the ground.

How did McVee go at Casey today? And Goody in his post game press conference didn’t sound overly confident about May considering we’re playing on Thursday night

Could be another game with a makeshift backline??

Fritter, hopefully he’s got the message for Melksham, McVee for Sharp and a left field one, Kentfield for Turner if May doesn’t get up.

It was Kentfield's first game back and first game as a KPD. He's a mile off being ready or match-fit, but took some nice grabs.

I wouldn’t be opposed to another 2-3 games of the current set up. See how we go. If Fritta isn’t busting the door down by then, that’s a worry

Out of interest Collingwood’s last 3 games against

Carlton they turned it over 63 times running at 65% efficiency.

Swans they turned it over 63 time running at 75% efficiency.

Lions they turned it over 46 times running at 78% efficiency. They really hit their straps Friday night and were on a mission.

I commented in numerous threads before Thursday night that not all of Collingwood’s players are elite kicks nor are all of their fwd 50 entries champagne footy but if the footy is moved quickly, kept low and delivered into an open fwd line dangerous fwds will more often than not finish it off. Turnovers may be a by product of this style of play but so is scoring. The template is now there for us, we must endeavour to play this way regardless of who’s playing.

Reward the team

May and McVee in for Turner and Sharp

Go again Demons

3-5 and we are back (sort of)

Fritsch is a gun, the day we decide to move the ball quickly just so happens to coincide with the days he’s in the VFL. If we are now committed to playing this way we need to get him back in asap. Do we honestly think the delivery is going to be that good at Casey.

Yes, agree. Spargo , Melk and Sparrow need to lift though

We laid 27 inside tackles. That did not happy by accident.

I'm confident either JVR or Fritsch could replace Fullarton's 1 tackle today

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
