Interesting. I love Windsor, but I thought he was very ordinary today. Fantasy points agree. He was our sixth lowest rated player, and that includes two who played half a game. Still, everyone sees things differently, and I might have missed his contribution.

I noticed he came off during the pregame warmup for treatment near the bench. I think it was an issue with his foot and boot. He only got back on the field just before the first bounce. He has had issues with skin infections on his foot. This could have had an impact on his form.

6 - Kozzie set the game up for us

5 - Max made sure we won it

4 - Jake Bowey was that his best game ever

3 - Harrison Petty dominant display

2 - Trent Rivers great all round effort

1 - Jack Viney welcome back champ.

Great team effort. The undermanned defence did a superb job. The highlights for me were the total team focus of Gawn and Viney as leaders. Twice Gawn could have taken the easy option of covering Darcy but instead went to man the dangerous Treacy who was without an opponent. Darcy ended up with two soft goals as a result but Max put the team first. Viney did a brilliant blanketing job on Serong and was still an influential offensive player. Kudos to our two leaders.

(I liked his bumps so i snuck him in....)

Maybe not the 6 votes; perhaps 4?...

This thread.

@Deespicable, re your "6. Bowey - I don't think i have seen a better defensive first half from any Demon in a long time", nice one 😊. I do very fondly remember his from-the-get-go performance in the '21 GF, as a 19yo(?) in his handful'th game. Pound-for-pound an equal with today?

Gee, it’s a pleasure to be voting after a win! Last week I described my final vote getter as β€œthe best of the rest”. This week I’m finding it very difficult to fit the them all in …… 10 into 6 doesn’t go!

My best guess:

  1. Pickett: Outstanding game! Put simply, we don’t win the game without him. His goals, his pressure, and very importantly, he caused the Freo players to [censored] themselves whenever he was near the ball.

  1. Bowey: Continued his outstanding season. Always seemed to be in the right spot, great vision, and immaculate β€˜team to advantage’ disposal. Current Club leader in the Bluey, I reckon.

  1. Gawn: Tap work, understanding with his mids / crumbers, and his behind-the-ball marking, all getting back to their best. Was an absolute β€˜rock’ in the last. As he said in his post match presser β€œwe weren’t going to lose that one”.

  1. Viney: Fantastic return to form. 25 (mostly effective) disposals and a goal, primarily playing an effective tagging role, speak for themselves.

  1. TMac: β€˜Evergreen Tom’ was a stalwart in defence, in the absence of his usual tall compatriots.

  1. Petty: The first time we’ve had an effective tall forward all season. Very good game, assisted by some much better delivery from further afield.

Riv and Chin the most unlucky, with a few others in contention.

  1. Kozzzzzy Pickett - for his excitement and goalscoring

  1. Max Gawn - strong ruckwork all day

  1. Jake Bowey. Clean and efficient.

  1. Harry Petty. 4 goals. Strong marking. Pearce is no mug.

  1. Jack Viney. Inspirational. Took on Serong. Seemed like a new man.

  1. Tom McDonald. Great game. Beat Treacy and defended all day.

Special mentions to Riv, Trac and Langdon. Of course to Langford for two crucial second half goals. He nailed them when others missed chances

Negative votes. None this week πŸ‘πŸ»

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
