That excitement before the start of each game is right up there with the best things about footy.

If we had a Robbie Flower running around so we at least have a reason to go to the football, I guess that would be exciting. As each day passes it’s starting to feel more and more like we’re back down here for awhile.

Me too, whatever happens I really get excited leading up to selection and game-day, I always tell my daughter in the morning "do you know what day it is??? GAME DAY BABY!!"

Still excited to see the kids play and get better, haven't seen much of anything recently but it'll happen, I'm excited to see it when it does.

I feel like I did at half time in that final home and away game against Geelong in 2021 when most people had written us off, my wife included as she went to bed...and although it looked completely hopeless I said to her "nope I'm gonna stay up just in case because you never know and imagine if they did come back I'd hate to miss it"...then they managed to do the un-doable.

I always have faith they can pull a rabbit out of a hat because damn its good fun when it happens!

I get excited at the thought of a breakout game from JVR, a proper commanding performance with 8-10 marks and 4+ goals.

Admittedly, he’s being disadvantaged by the gameplan and those further up the field but it’s still an exciting thought.

My instruction to him would be do not stand still all day, ever

Ok will go through it. I'm happy that we actually drafted some dynamic and skillful ball users in Windsor and Lindsay these last few years. It shows that the FD and coach do think along the lines of us somewhat and don't go for the exact kind of player each time.

Other than those guys there may not be a lot to get excited about youth wise but I'm looking forward to seeing someone like Aiden Johnson, a man who knows this will probably be his only chance at AFL level in what is likely going to be a craрshoot season for us and seeing him play like his life depends on it.

Lastly, it excites me that a new CEO is reportedly coming soon.

I get excited with anticipation all pre season thinking of the possibilities of what may happen. It is all good, we haven’t lost any games (neither has anyone else)

Each game day I also get excited. The possibility of what may happen……then unfortunately about 10 minutes into the games of late, the excitement finishes. Sad but true.

But then there is always the next game, the next season.

Except for one or two years, sadly this is how it has been for me for over half a century.😞

It is miserable times at the moment, which is the norm for most of my football life, but one diffewrnce is that the club is not broke. We have money and the AFL is not asking us to raise more money (like the Saints).

We have winning experience at modern day success.

Drafting hasnt been a disaster.

Adminstratively we are much more professional.

Agreed. Bring Jeffo in and keep him there.

That lead and subsequent goal he kicked in the last quarter V GWS when nobody else could step told me that he’s a natural forward that we’re crying out for. He may even be more of a natural forward than JVR.

I’m very similar. I get really excited—especially when I get to the G. I love getting there early and watching the players warm up. I know this sounds naive, but when the scoreboard is even at the start of a game, there’s always possibility. I know that we’re not playing well as we did and we’ve been both out coached and out played this year. But, as a person who moved to Australia like 15 years ago—so not as long suffering as some of you are with the MFC—I’m also a long time Red Sox fan from the US who stuck through my entire life supporting a team that sucked and finally started seeing success. I guess I just have hope and since I first started watching footy when I got here, Melbourne has been my team.

Not naïve whatsoever. It’s a fact: both sides are equal on the scoreboard before the match starts. There’s every chance of a win.

I also love watching the boys warm up, and seeing the stands slowly fill. We set up our bay with flags and giant heads etc. and the mood is always good, even if it’s raining.

Red Sox or Redlegs… you’re a loyal fan who is always hopeful, imo that’s the best kind of fan.

I saw that Horse and Simmo were on AFL 360 last night so had a look as they were discussing SG and our efforts to change the game plan and just how difficult it was. Adam said that he had tried to change the Eagles game plan to a faster moving more dynamic style and bought in a couple of assistants to help with the change but said his playing group couldn’t (or wouldn’t) adapt away from their existing style. Possibly leading to his and their demise. Longmire said that in his 14 year reign he only did one major tweak to the game plan which took a while to bed in but it made them a better side in the long run.

They both said that they were following SG’s changes and they mentioned that he had already implemented a major change after 2018 season and could identify some changes however they said it was diiicult to bring about change.
