Riewoldt hates the Dees. He banged on about Fritsch tunneling Stewart and should be suspended for 3 weeks. Clark said Fritsch nearly put Stewart into a wheelchair for life. Both are now in the media scum file. Absolute BS.

Yeah good call on Phil Davis. The more of him the better.

An interview with Phil Davis late in his career.

Honestly, although this is a media thread, I wonder what his level of interest would be in getting involved at the club. I'm picturing a kind of mentorship to the leadership group, which would not even need to be a full time role but would have him in touch and relieving some of the tension for Gawn, and would be very important for developing what could be a potent next generation of leaders.

I almost lose my mind whenever Riewoldt opens his mouth lately.....I concur with you regarding what he said about Petracca and his family. I was fuming. Again with Fritsch, it was like he went out with a snipers rifle to take out Stewart. I used to think he spoke very well whenever he was a guest on AFL360, but he has totally lost me and is way up in the dizzying heights of McClure, Barrett and Morris in regards to senationalism and outrage for outrages sake. Getting very hard to get an unbiased opinion on football these days.

I agree with Damo … honestly I cannot believe it. I agree with him.

BALTA pleaded Guilty to cowardly bashing someone outside a pub. King hit the guy. Video was conclusive and he had no defence. He should cop a good behaviour bond, anger management and with a suspended 6- month jail sentence. That is ok to be free provided without any further offending.

Court ruling this week so why not wait until after the ruling. But Tigers played him. AFL DISGRACE. RICHMOND DISGRACEFUL! He king hit a guy. Lucky not to have killed him. It’s a [censored] disgrace

Riewoldt. The same [censored] who was running from the media and jumping fence’s when Richmond were a basket case, now happy to lay the boots in because he is in the Key Fwd Fox Footy Mafia, used to love “On the Couch” now I can’t get through the opening.

Jay-Z [censored] me I can’t stand this [censored], thinks he is a modern day Mike Sheehan. Asks the most long winded irrelevant shallow questions, that take so long the person he’s interviewing forgets what the question was about in the first place!

This little coight CONSTANTLY bangs on about melbourne failing post 2021 to win another flag, so much so Goodwin whacked him in a triple m pre game interview last year. He is a Collingwood star [censored] suck up.

North slaps media ban on Kane Cornes after Sheezel comments

North Melbourne will not engage with Kane Cornes on any of his media platforms across TV, radio and digital.

These are kids thrust into the limelight. I'm sure Harry can handle it but lots may not. Their mental well being needs to be protected.

"The issue came to a head when Channel Seven requested Kangaroos coach Alastair Clarkson be part of a pre-game TV interview that involved Cornes ahead of North's prime-time clash with Essendon on Thursday night.

The request was rejected and Viney said it came after what the Roos felt were "personal ... vindictive" attacks on the club.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻to North and Todd V.!

Can't find it, but the Brad Scott bit on Classified where he talked about asking the AFL for clarification on the Stand rule was interesting. Basically AFL admitted errors were made in not penalising Pies players for being in the protected area.

Pies are being umpired to another flag by not being penalised late in games or for things other teams are. 2023 they turned the last 5 minutes of close games into scrums, knowing the ump would not ping them for holding the ball.

What a great post this is. Best of the week for me.Collingwood are cheating their way to a flag by maggots ignoring rules because they are scared to death.

That whole game was riddled with mistakes from ignorant umpiring where they are too scared to call play, calling play on at all and not calling play on for short pass errors in distance.

They are a joke, every supporter, except Brisbane, Collingwood and Carlton supporters know they are being cheated.

They have pets, usually their best players and sons of famous names who cheated as well.

Loved Ross Lyon teeing off in response to Tauru’s ridiculous four match ban today. He unloaded about the structure of the VFL, the bye system and also said there should be a breakaway system rather than a dysfunctional VFL. He unloads at the 5.18 mark.

The media and AFL have seriously regressed not just with Dillon but also under the [censored] that was Gillion.

The pursuit of profit and commercial prosperity is starting to compromise the quality of the product that is being sold.

I can’t see Dillon lasting too long and I hope they bring in someone that is purely profit focused.

Cornes would be loving all this as it gives him what he craves the most and that is attention.

Yeah, he will just double down on his stance.

But hopefully he cuts out the personal stuff and vitriol toward people especially young players.

In any other situation it is abuse.

I assume you mean "not purely profit focused".

Having said that, I disagree with your points that the AFL has regressed and that the pursuit of profit is compromising the quality of the product. It's a necessarily evil that if we want the best product we need to have the revenues to pay the players, the coaches, the support staff and to have great facilities to attend games.

I think someone's told Tom a porkie or to make him look stupid or he's just made it up.

Max said on mmm on Monday trac didn't make a rousing speech.

He did say however last Thursday at half goody put it on viney & sparrow to lift & when asked if goody ever gave max a spray, max said yes at half time one game last season & max responded so now goody knows he can give max a spray & he'll respond

It is sad if not tragic when the AFL feel the need to add this to an article about a player having a challenging time.

'Everyone hated me': Oscar Allen on fallout from Mitchell...

Eagles skipper opens up on the toll that the public scrutiny took on him after his dinner with Hawks coach

TV producers and editors need to rein the hyperbole back and be held accountable.

Or the AFL should put some conditions on the 'accreditations' they give out.

Maybe as a Captain and leader of a football club you shouldn't be taken an in season meeting with another coach !!!

And if you do, you have to expect the scrutiny, if & when you get caught !!

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.
