Two points: -

- You don’t get a lot of favours when you finish 14th.
- last season many posters were complaining about night games being too late a night, especially taking the kids etc, and wishing we had more afternoon games.

Well we have the afternoon games now and there are still complaints. Guess you can’t please everyone.

We were dreadful the second half of last year, we got what we deserved fixture wise.

When you finish 14th and play a very bland brand of football in comparison to the “glamour teams” then the reality is you are not going to be prime time. It’s up to the football department to change that because it will be hurting the bottom line.

Well it is a well known fact that you can't please everyone, but the point here is their job is to try and I cannot personally see where that consultative process is, anywhere.

I’ll take a favourable draw with some less than ideal game timeslots

We’re off off Broadway 😂

By round 12 we will have played 4 home games against interstate teams, one 'home' game against Essendon in ADELAIDE, and the Saints at Traeger Park for some reason, against a total of only two homes games against victorian clubs.

North are almost as screwed over as we are, but not quite.

St Kilda and Essendon won't be thrilled, but it certainly isn't as bad at ours.

Even Richmond at least get to play an interstate team in the corprorate junket round to Barossa.

And Carlton continues to stand firm as the undisputable evidence that for 20 years at least the fixture has been determined by politics, not 'entertainment value', 'competitiveness' or even 'commercial draw'.

We need to stop hating ourselves. There's nothing wrong with just acknowledging the reality -  The Australian Football League decides commercial and competitive arrangements based on informal back-room networks of favouritism.

And on Friday night the Dogs played their home at the MCG giving Collingwood another game at the G. But we can’t complain because it would of been the Dogs who requested this, subsequently getting their biggest home and away crowd.

The North and Geelong games are irrelevant to the discussion as they’re not our home game. And anyway I’m not sure what’s stopping a Melbourne supporting family going to a 3:20pm game on a Sunday afternoon game in the city, unless they live in the bush.

And I’m not sure about others but I was stoked to get three Saturday afternoon games in the first 15 rounds which is 3 more than what we got last year.

Ok, I’ll leave it to you experts, just made an opinion on how l think the AFL has put us in a position that will completely bugger up our membership with uninspiring match ups against clubs with low supporter bases early on

The trade off being that they would be screwed by the umpires.

And those who responded just gave their opinions… so, no need for the passive aggressive stuff 😉

Nar you’re entitled to your opinion.

I reckon what’s worse is that the AFL don’t schedule us a game in Melbourne between rounds 14 and 17.

For those who are [censored] off at the fixture, I hope you go to our home games when you can.

Our fixture this year is not at all surprising given our 2024.

Our 2021 fixture was bog-ordinary but I had a great time!

we play every team once and our double ups ain't too bad at all.

nothing wrong with our fixture. in fact, afternoon slots suit me better as more family friendly.

With the loss of FTA coverage on Saturday nights, having FTA TV eyes on the Dees on Sunday arvos is not a bad side effect. I actually don't mind Sunday arvo games, kid friendly.

Oh please!!!!

Dont be so sensitive

We win 11 games last year, people are making it sound like the Mark Neeld years

Play uninspiring football, get an uninspiring fixture.

We had our first non-Geelong home game this century last year. I guess we have to wait another 26 years for our next one

Crazy that anyone complains about being hard done by.

I've already seen a bunch of Melbourne supporters say they're going to watch the game from their couch.

You can't then complain that we get TV fixtures.

More of us need to turn up...

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.

  • PREGAME: Geelong

After a one-year reprieve, the Demons return down the freeway to Kardinia Park — the site of both one of our greatest triumphs and one of our darkest days — as they face the Cats under Friday night lights. This one could get ugly. Who comes in, and who comes out?
