Not a big fan of the chip/mark game plan in defence. We don’t have the skill for that and it just feels pointless.

I like it. Make them defend in the heat. There’s nothing to lose from doing that in a game like this. It’s a new look for us and now’s the time to see how it works.

Death, Taxes, Melbourne playing boring predictable vanilla football

Positives

Trac back

Clayton contributing

AJ having a crack

young blokes getting a touch

Negatives

Early goals matter

Another knee takes out a Demon champ

is Rivers playing?

Disposal mediocre hand & foot

Set shots suck (again)

Freo Bunnies!

Second half needs to be all about giving players confidence - particularly forward of the ball.

I totally forgot about this game. Took the kids to the park.

Good choice.

Billings is so useless, looked defeated as soon as he marked it.

Except for his two missed shots at goal, he has played better than a dozen other teammates.

So far we have been a distant second best in basic skills, ball movement, marking contests, pace and kicking accuracy.

Apart from that, Goody will tell you everything is going to plan.

At least there’s lots of love … a practice game let’s hope the 2nd half & the season ahead is positive

Geez we look sloppy today. Yet another afternoon where Treacy and grandpa Walters do as they please.

Easy misses from Salem, Fritsch, Sharp, AJ and Billings hasn’t helped massage the scoreboard. Billings is so useless, looked defeated as soon as he marked it.

Just a praccy match but definitely close to worst case scenario on what I didn’t want to see today.

If there’s just ONE positive that I’m going to take out of today… you have fixed the Bnag in your profile name!!! Now THAT’s cause for celebration!!🎉🙌👏

or doesn't, as the scoreboard indicates

Give Koz a run ffs

What’s the point?

He’s not going to bail us out in the first 3 games so you may as well not bother today.

F50 ground ball pressure needs to lift along with set shots. That will stop their rebound from defence
2 teams but very humid today in Peel region currently 26 degrees with 81% humidity

Hate the chipping around. When other teams do it to us I love it because it means they don't know what to do. And that's how it is going with us. And every kick is another opportunity for the other team to intercept in their forward line FFS.

Soz to kill your one positive HT, they’re two different posters. The Bnag still lives.

Missed Fritsch for an easy out the back kick too, he’s been far from the worst but so uninspiring

Now talking about "21", after the spiel about last year.

Our first real hit out with a new forward coach.

Give us a chance before all this, pessimism.

Wait until mid season, or at least after the first couple of H&A games.

But, then you won't be able to say "I told you so"!

Ok I'll try.tx.

yep

and none of our players have the skills to pick the eye out of a needle

it won't work when you can't hit a target under minimal pressure

Learnings

Still working on Forward connection

Skills need improvement

guess what ?

it’s the same lyrics to the same song as last years

Everyone still think Bowey is an excellent half back?

He hasn't been the same since his injury.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
