Halfway through training, those that are playing in the Casey game tomorrow left the area. Included were, Tmac, Campbell, Laurie, Jefferson, Mentha, Brown, Verrall.

Maybe a little hint for round 1 that we'll be going with:

Defence - May, Lever and Petty with T Mac missing out.

Forward - JVR, Turner with AJ as the third tall forward/second ruck and then potentially subbed out. Jefferson to miss out.

(JVR to play the entire game as a forward aside from maybe a short Gawn chop out if AJ subbed out)

Reckon you're spot on.

Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.

The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun.

One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody was encouraging them in it and to win. He also took them aside a couple of times and talked to them, during the session.

I didn't notice Fullarton or Sestan. Henderson was training but had no number, maybe he will get a run for Casey. Spargo was doing some short runs in runners, it was mentioned that he will play at Casey.

Those that stayed with the main squad included, Howes, Adams, Lindsay, Langford, Windsor, Salem, Turner, Sharp, Woewodin, Johnson.

Viney was running well and getting plenty in the sims (two 5 minute sets).

Sparrow looking strong and with good involvement.

Wings had Billings, Lindsay, Woewodin and Sharp in those positions.

Chandler running extensively up and down the field, off half-forward.

Johnson struggled a bit keeping up with Gawn. At a couple of stages, Gawny was instructing Johnson on the ruck craft.

Lever intercepting well. Apart from him stopping our thrusts, we showed good overall skills, with fast ball movement and kicking to advantage.

Adams was getting heavily involved and with good skills.

Rivers is ready to go, looking very good, as is Bowey.

Tracc a little rusty, missed some hits when distributing.

Oliver continues to push himself, working very hard.

Windsor was running freely.

They had cones ten meters in from the boundary line. Looks like that want them to find corridors and not safety.

I was told they are flying early tomorrow.

Culley train??

Short session today, I didn’t get to talk to many of my faves. The Bison waved from the field and gave me a double thumbs up and a big grin. I reckon he knows what us fans think of him. 😊 👍🏽👍🏽

Wonderful to hear! ❤️💙

agreed

jefferson is just not strong enough in the contest as yet

good skills from the looks of things, but that's only half the role of a key forward

Your proclamation that Goody loved him - completely made up or a fever dream?

Sam Weidman 2.0, unless he can dominate at Casey why should he be in the 1s same goes for Fulton last year.

Thank god they've got the lights on, training in such appalling conditions.

That's actually a party sparkler they inserted into Marty's thumb, which also explains why he is in a good mood.

I'm really surprised to hear McVee could be back so soon, as I was under the impression his injury was a bit on the horrible side.

I'm more interested than clear reason call for to know how the mature/SSP selections are going. Could we be seeing Henderson dashing around causing trouble for a few weeks before Pickett is available?

Yes Culley was with them, left the paddock with the, I assume are the Casey team.

Looks like they’ve flown up today according to May’s insta story.

Either way, thank you for the report!

Your lack of punctuation is noted. Next time please use the required comma's, semicolons and full stops, with the  appropriate capitisation after full stops.

Im sorry, but a true grammarian would've used an exclamation mark to emphasise this point.

Well then do it again & again… & again @ Casey. & I'm sure if he does, then he will get a look in.

Let’s just trust the coaches on this one  PF.

Comma's? Methinks thou doth punctuate too much.

Never mind the superfluous apostrophe.

I'm still trying to come to terms with the neologism that is "capitisation".

They did fly out today. They have a Captain’s Run at Rushton Park In Mandurah tomorrow. They’ll fly back on Sunday after the match. Then they have a few days off followed by training at Casey on Thursday.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #7 Jack Viney

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #12 Koltyn Tholstrup

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.
