Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley

Featured Replies

Culley looks good but he needs to stop providing soft drop crumbs in the backline. He did that twice on the weekend and it cost two goals.

That said, he looks like an AFL player.

Could imagine Culley and Langford swapping over from deep forward to wing

No idea if Culley will be a long term best 22 guy but crazy how the Eagles delisted a midfielder with his height and aerial game

Speed of thought and delivery is better than pure speed.

Greg Williams says “hi”.

And he looked pretty quick to me at the G on Sunday.

Anyway out for Dinner with Mrs Fence for Black Pudding, Haggis, Dirty Faggots, Ditties, Toad in the Hole and Lobscourse,

Sounds like 'dinner and show' at @Bitter but optimistic's manor

What an unsophisticated fellow you are Stiffy !

The Manor's resident Michelin Man would never serve up such "horrible nourriture " when local delicacies such as Alpaca Bourguignon and Kookaburra under glass are available!

Tsk tsk. Kookaburras are a protected species and it is against the law to kill them or, your deity of choice forbid, eat them.

However, I have to confess that I did try some roasted kookaburra at a dinner party one night.

It has a most unusual taste, somewhere between platypus and orange-bellied parrot.

I'm glad it isn't Alpaca (beef) wellington!! 🙃

He had a year out from the ACL, obviously hadn't regained his pace easiest delist for any list manager.

Don't know anyone who doesn't take a season to regain speed, spring and form until a year or so after ther return from the year off. It takes time, something of a massive commodity in list terms - unless you are an absolute gun time isn't on your side. Hes not the first to be strung out after an injury, and definitely won't be the last. Fortunately he was able to have some redevelopment time and then get onto our list. You never know what a full preseason will do for him - we might have something here

I would NEVER eat a kookaburra, especially the beak. Unless, the beak was done to a crisp and perhaps with a dash of lemon and pepper.

I did a rewind on that, he was actually tunnelled by Petty as a Collingwood player had shoved Petty fair in the back in the marking contest.

The hands in the back legalisation is making this practice incredibly dangerous and has the potential to see someone end up with a broken neck.

Collingwood player that caused it. So nothing to see here

Nothing to see and crickets out of the commentators.... how surprising.

The coach mentioned that he was sent to hospital to be checked out but haven’t heard the results.

Loves to launch at the footy.. I love it!

And Chaplin mentioned "whiplash", so I guess they will have checked out his neck/spine. I was watching him closely after it happened - as he stayed down for a while. As he started to run - expecting to stay on - he grabbed at his lower back. and then headed off the ground. Over to the medical experts on here.....

He is very hard to tackle, seems to shrug off anything that comes his way

Jai certainly appears to play taller than his height.

Could he become a deep marking forward like Frittata, and or a big mid?

Appears to have footy smarts

Culley has so much potential, he just needs to tidy up his defensive positioning and work rate. A full pre season with the group should help in this respect.

I reckon he’s a high half forward. Quick, powerful, unreal in the air. If he rotates between there and the wing he has the potential to be a mason wood type headache for opposition given virtually all of his opponents are going to be a mismatch either in the air or on the ground.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

It's Game Day and the Demons are back at the MCG and have a massive challenge ahead of them as they take on Premiership contender the Gold Coast Suns. What do you want to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
