This kid looks like he's already been in the league for 2 years and is looking insane. Harvey has to be the steal of the draft at 190 cm and already looks like he has a good amount of muscle to him. Hopefully he has a standout season like Caleb did in his first year and shows us that he could potentially be the next Christian Petracca. IMG_4573.thumb.JPG.cb4b75971170f6ea25c51c17a909293c.JPG

Agree with this. I've had Trac vibes about him for a while.

He's taller though, more like a Crippa.

I feel he's a bit like Tom Green from GWS but probably has more ability to go forward.

Looks a better kick too (love Tom Green but he does have a bit of hack it on the boot about him)

Agreed………….Nothing short of a Brownlow, B&F, Rising Star win & Norm Smith Medal in his first year will be seen as a pass mark in 2025. In fact, I’d be shocked if he hasn’t racked up Brownlow votes already.

seriously though, no need to put any unnecessary pressure on him or XL. They’re only 10 weeks in to their careers. Patience.

“Oh no! A Demonland poster is putting unnecessary pressure on me to perform!”

I was at Gosch's yesterday and it was the first time I've seen him up close.

I was super impressed with his work ethic and just how physically ready for a first year player. He outbodied some of his senior teammates and laid some absolutely bone crunching tackles.

He was easily working his way to contests and there was period of around 4-5 minutes where he was accumulating disposals at will.

I wouldn't be surprised if he plays forward early in the season, but I think he'll be a gun midfielder in time.

Cripps/Green are the best comparisons - he doesn't have the explosive power of Petracca (as very very few do).

I was super excited we were able to get him draft night.  Strikes me as one of those lads who's just been born tough and will have no issue meeting the expectations of his hard nosed team mates.  Very much a no-nonsense type and just a bloody good footballer with good skills from what I have seen.

I think he'll start on the HFF as his marking prowess looks the goods with some solid sessions in the midfield.

Okay then, I'll bite, can his nickname be a nice simple 'Hammer'?

Spectre.

Unfortunately, not gonna happen. It seems once a nickname is bestowed, it’s set in stone. Harves will just have to suffice.

I want to see Stephen Quartermain interviewing Harvey Langford.

SQ:  "Hello, Harves."

HL:   "Hello, Quarters."

The nickname department obviously needs a fresh influx of creativity if Harves is the best they could come up with. GW - all you need to do is a have a Harvey Specter sign in the DA with a picture of our Harvey's head atop a suit. Easy fix :pj:

Not sure but thought i saw somewhere they were calling him Reidy as in Harley?

i sincerely hope not. He deserves his own nickname, not one that’s based on a comparison to another player. Besides, he’ll be a 10x better player than Reid. 😁

I was just taking the pizz on the other thread calling him Harvey Reid

Surely someone with 4 functioning braincells could come up with better nicknames that we seem to do.
Who ever is in charge needs to lift their game or move aside.

I know the Blues were looking at him very closely and rated him highly. I agree that he will probably be in the mould of a Cripps rather than a Petracca. Time will tell though.

He looks like one that will be ready to go now in terms of senior AFL football. The Dees did well with him.

I have a great feeling about this kid, just seems like he could be an absolute beast and seems to have the competitive mindset (similar to Trac) - basing this off nothing other than the few videos/interviews posted around the draft and gut instinct.

How about Mustang -Ford

What about the Saint? Without them we would never have got Langford!

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
