Still better than that [censored] Owies. So glad we didn’t pick him up.  🤣🤣

I'm really bad at detecting sarcasm, so not sure if you're serious but I'd have Matt Owies in a heart beat over McAdam.

If he gets fit he'll be best 23. At his best for the Crows he was fast, strong over head, skillful and hard at it.

Perplexing why he was rushed into AFL level in 2024 when he obviously needed more weeks doing a pre season load. S'ppose he was not the only one.

McAdam's best is fridge at the absolute best.

Playing players carrying injuries, ignoring good form at Casey, while promoting players not in good form and rushing in players without a run in the reserves are all Goodwin specialities from about 2022.

Cool!

you know what i mean 😏

I thought McAdam looked ok at Adelaide in one game I watched.

Not sure where he fit in our attack though - as a third forward option that was neither tall or small? Not fast and wasnt able to kick distance but its possible these were injury limitations.

I think he was playing a very strange role in the game I saw him at for the Dees, whether he wasnt sure of his role or was not playing it properly I dont know.

People forget Lever's first game at the Dees had a few worried.

Shane McAdam is a fantastic person.
If Adelaide is a world away from Halls Creek, then Melbourne is another planet.
I hope the break back in Halls Creek has refreshed him for another tilt at it. I know he did some training with Ash Johnson Jy Farrar and Bobby Hill - which is at least something.
I’d like to think we are a club who support our own when they’re down, and that should extend from the 1st player to the 45th.

No one denied that he is a fantastic person - he's just not AFL standard

There's always going to be an underperformer or 2.  Or perhaps 4 or 5 on a list.  12-15 years ago we had 20+ underperformers

The key is that the best players need to be on song as they can't be replaced easily

Best 16 need to be very good (or better) and then the others fill the gaps as role players or decent depth

So in taking a glance at the lists of any premiership team, those teams will still have a number of underperformers (who don't play)

I'm not concerned about McAdam as he is really only a depth player ...  but the health and form of Oliver, Petracca, Fritsch, May, Lever etc could be a concern unless they all get back to their best

In other words, if all our very good players are at their best along with our youngsters being developed well,  we'll be fine

McAdam was a baffling pick for us, Fritta is a better version and unless you only played one tall he doesn't really fit imo.

Then there is the fact he is always injured and never seems to get fit.

I hope he is ok in his life but if he retires as the rumour has been then I don't think we will miss him at all.

Assumed he was mid-size-fwd cover, wonder if we'd have gone for him if Melksham hadn't done his ACL.

Hasn't worked out for both parties as yet, but not drawing a line through him yet

Excuses excuses, you can’t keep blaming the club for everything, the player needs to take responsibility for his lack of professionalism & attitude.

He’s hardly looked interested since he’s got here

I’d like the second round pick back

And this was one of my biggest gripes was he was never worth a second round pick, was never consistently on the park to warrant it.

It goes the other way as well

Rivers, Gawn & Fritsch in the 30's.  McVee a rookie draft pick.  T-Mac & ANB in the 50's

If the good outweighs the bad by a decent amount, it's an overall win

You shouldn’t be mentioning Fritta in any sentence in the same vein as Shane Mac.

Fans are continually on Fritta’s back because they expect him to play contrary to his assets.
Fritta is not ANB he has other football skills. Let him play those and continue to kick 40 plus goals each year.

Yes his intensity is sometimes questionable but I don’t think he means it. It’s just him.

He’s our best forward and he can improve by virtue of others around him also playing at a higher standard.

He will I believe this year .

Ok, but what I was saying here is that McAdam is a poor mans Fritta and I would have Fritta over McAdam every day of the week, TBH I think he is our best forward, Frittas biggest problem has been our game plan.

Sorry if it came across as a go at Fritta, but its really not. All i was saying was I don't know why we got McAdam when we already had a superior version in Fritta.

I didn't even know who McAdam was until we traded for him. Not at all impressed by what I've seen so far - a fail by the recruiters there. I hope I'm wrong.

You wont be wrong!

McAdam. I’m still puzzled why he was recruited? 50 games in 6 years.  Injury prone.  I guess if he gets fit and if he’s injury free … and if he can kick over 35 metres.  World of “ifs”

Hopefully Shane McAdam turns up in ripping shape at Pre-Season training when he is officially due back.

The ball is squarely in his court to perform in season 2025.

Fair enough G There are some similarities in their play but Shane looked fast and exciting in his Crow highlights.

His marking was a highlight as he dies have some ability to take species (as opposed to Kossie). He really owes us to turn up and be at his best yo give us all the forward options we now are starting to assemble. Langford would also be pinching a half  forward role possibly early on as well.

Let’s see next week how fit Shane is. Can’t wait.

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
