No, no and no……another average player who doesn’t chase, harass or run. Faaaaaaarrrrrrrrkkkkkk!

Yes from me: always seems to be one of the Blues most dangerous small forwards no idea why they’d let him go actually

I'd rather Kennedy out of the Blues camp but he might be an improvement over the likes of Billings and Spargo.

More midfield Kossie!

It would be sad to see Owies leave the Blues. He is a bit of an enigma as a forward, has definite limitations as a footballer but yet still has a good goal scoring record. He isn't really a crumbing forward, he moves into open space to take marks and is a solid kick for goal.

I think the market will pay him more than he is currently on at Carlton and the Blues want to reserve cap space for Weitering, TDK and maybe some new incoming trades. That is why he is being allowed to explore his options

Definitely would not be a flop inward trade like Billings. Owies will earn his keep.

Exactly why we would look at Owies

Agree about Kennedy.

Owies is pretty ordinary.

He even looks [censored] in the best guernsey in the comp. When our jumper doesn’t make you look better it’s a massive warning sign.

Yes for me. With Goodwin's gameplan of bombing long into forward line, we need small forwards who can hit the scoreboard. Massive upgrade on Spargo and Billings.

Bingo. He's the anti-Nibbler. Just sits there with his mouth open waiting for opportunities on goal to fall in.

To reiterate - the reason he scores so many of the Blues' goals is because he is nice and fresh from not doing two-way running while his teammates are getting worn out trying to cover the hole he left.

Blues fans I know are basically adamant that the team will be better off without him.

Has scored 61 goals 25 behinds in last 2 seasons

if he can run and chase then sign him up

We need more small fwds

I've always disliked Owies because of his annoying in-your-face over-celebration after every goal as if he's just kicked the sealer in the Grand Final.

However, I could probably warm to him if he did that five or six times per game for MFC.

Why have Mcadam then?

Not sure what you mean mate?

Different players. McAdam hasn’t come on

Well, not all that different. Both smallish forwards in their late 20s who lead to space and don't feature much with pressure.

Doesn't mean I'm not keen to hear the differences though.

One of the poorer suggestions yet. Apart from kicking the odd goal I don't know what this guy offers, surprising to see so man people here keen.

This is like @WERRIDEEs post in the other thread RE Goody.

He kicks goals. They're handy in football.

Maybe we can trade Fritsch, pick up Owies to do that job for cheaper and use the bulk of the draft picks leftover to go get a proper 2 way forward.

Precisely.

Huge and unnecessary risk imo

Get our system entering F50 fixed and Fritta will pay us back in spades

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
