Kozzie, don’t leave. You will regret it

Just put on more clothes over winter…

You have Demon Blood

Kozzie's old boy is a friggen ripper.

I met him in an elevator in Adelaide down in Glenelg he initiated a the convo by spotting i was sporting a Melbourne hat.

From there we talked all things Dees, his work as a comedian and his son.

Could speak more highly of the family.

I don’t think it’s in dispute that Kozzie is homesick - it’s obviously from the recent interview that he is, and it’s completely understandable.

The inference that that therefore means he wants to leave is the part I’m yet to see any corroboration of. I’ll believe it to be true when I hear it from Koz. Until then, I don’t care to speculate.

There seems to be genuine love for the MFC, so we haven’t lost him yet

I fully understand the family ties, but Kozzie can also make his family very proud if he stays in Melbourne

Really? I've lost my trust of all sports journos now.

Didn't you realise that petracca and Oliver have been replaced by doubles. There was no way that they would have stayed. We just need to get over it!

Kozzie has been on public around his level of home sickness and why its important for him to get back to Perth to visit his family.

I barely trust a journo in the industry but one I do is Cal Twomey. You ask insiders within the AFL industry and especially recruiters and there is a high level of respect for Twomey for his work and professionalism especially when it comes to inside information.

The guy does his background checks at an incredible length before he releases his info.

Bumped into a current player who's from up this area and one i had a fair bit to do with from Murray Bushies days. We spoke all things as well as the issues internally and Kozzie, trac and Oliver situation.

Kozzie didn't ask for an official trade but he did meet up with Simon Goodwin after the season had finished and spoke about his home sickness and whether there was a possibility of going home back to WA to be closer with his extended mob. Club was incredibly respectful of his wishes but also he was contracted and a trade would be incredibly difficult.

His manager then approached the club around trade week just to see whether the club had a change of mindset but there wasn't which Koz and his manager were fine with.

Both moved on pretty quickly and that was it. Club doing all they can to support not only Koz but family members that have moved down here to Melbourne.

My personal opinion is that I think there will potentially be another scenario at the end of the year where he'll approach the club to be then shut down due to his contract. It would take an almighty offer from Freo to turn our heads which then means he will see out his contract until the end of 2027.

The accusation was that Twomey stated Kozzy was pursuing at trade on the last day of trade period. Your information means that such a statement if made be untrue

Maybe he was though? He and his manager were clearly asking the questions around trade period.

I'm only reporting what I was told during that time period.

If Cal Twomey reported it then I'd say he'd be on the money. Pickett through his manager, was fairly active in terms of keeping an open dialogue with the club throughout the trade period, that's a fact. The last day could have simply been another last attempt on whether the club had changed its stance.

well neither is perth

Incorrect. Perth is his home.

He was born in SA but he grew up and spent majority of his childhood in Quairading WA. It was only until he hit his mid to late teens where he made the transition to SA to live with his uncle to focus on his schooling and football.

Thank god he still has 2 years left on his contract. Puts the club in a strong position. I hope we are currently putting another contact in front of him. He’s worth as much as anybody at the club or any other club and his pay should reflect that.

Maybe a good offer that front loaded a bit over the first couple of years might be enough to tempt him. An extra mil in the bank would surely give him something to thing about.

exactly - NOT PERTH

it's literally two and half hours drive from perth, if you go at the speed limit

Maybe I've got blinkers on but outside of last week when he left training early with an ankle injury and didn't train or run again before the game. I'd say he is the most damaging player in the league.

Nobody is getting 20+ possesions a game and kicking 2+ goals, like he does.

His record of getting 20+ possesions with 5+ goals in a game is up their with the absolute elites of the game over the last 20 years and he is still young.

His value is higher than anyone else in the league and I don't think Freo could come to finding a trade for that even if he requested a trade.

Kozzie has cleared heard about the Oracle confirming our 2028 Premiership destiny.

Just my thoughts but after reading through this thread there are some very logical reasons to believe that Kozzie is already home. Kozzie’s spiritual home maybe in rural WA but like so many Australians we were drawn to the “big smoke” from our country birthplaces by necessity and reward and now call Melbourne home.

Imagine an announcement that Kozzie is extending his contract! That would be incredibly cool. I’m not an I told you so type but geez it’ll be hard to hold back when this happens 😅

Kozzy extending his contract and Melbourne being beaten by the filth by heaps. I still think the Dee’s come out on top. I expect one not the other. Oh well

Go Dee’s

Haha Sounds like you may have heard something GW, but are trying so hard to disguise it.

We beat the Pies, Viney ready to go post bye, JVR returning to form, no new injuries and then Koz says he’s going nowhere and signs on for 7 years for $9million.

So, Freo next year is now out of the question given they're speculating about an extension? I'm sure a few of us were coming to grips with counting down his games at the MFC at rounds 4 to 5 before he caught fire V Freo.

I still can't see a way that he extends past his free agency so far in advance. Surely this ramps up in the off season of 2026/2027.

Oh, I’ve heard a bunch, NC. But according to some, either I’m making stuff up, or Ardu (Kozzie’s partner) is lying to me, which would be odd since she volunteers the info.

Anyways, we shall see what transpires.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
