I’m certainly not necessarily supporting the President’s handling of the interview, but the last time I looked she wasn’t responsible for the deplorable goal kicking this year, and if some players, including Trac. had better accuracy she may not have to be defending the culture at the club

Not sure if already mentioned but from the little I’ve heard / read Roffey did a great impression of Kimberly Cheadle at her congress hearing. She subsequently resigned shortly afterwards.

I think people need to calm the farm a bit.

Roffey spoke poorly & should resign, but getting rid of her does not solve club culture, we won't start playing electric football again, she isn't responsible for our terrible recruiting, nor off field antics of players, Petracca won't stay if she leaves either, we have bigger issues throughout. It doesn't just end with her gone, we need a whole club clean out/direction and buy in.

I know that this has slipped everyone’s mind SFebes but are we or are we not in the middle of negotiations for The Caulfield Training Ground option with AFL, Gleneira Council, etc. how does everyone think this May end up if we sack Kate, Gary, the Board and the Footy Department. Just asking for 65,000 paid up supporters??

The one thing that stuck out the most for me was the way Kate pronounced rhetoric.

I’ve been hearing it wrong all these years.

Take your point , but what do we mere supporters know about any negotiations.

In 8 years ( even longer) we’ve been fed quite a number of apparent solutions to a city linked training ground and social club.

The MRC Board are potentially about to be spilled, with the two main drivers of this project either already gone or out the door, and the council don't wish to engage with our president directly.

I'm not sure it would harm the project if we're being honest.

I'm very curious about this. Any idea why they are so put off by her?

Given the Petracca issue, as well as a number of others, for a considerable period, any "leader" would have known what the agenda would be during an interview, to which she was invited to and clearly accepted.

I can think of no other club president, which would handle an interview in such a shocking way.  Roffey should not have been surprised at the questions asked of her and for a senior person, she should have been far better prepared.

After hearing her today, I can understand why.

I thought the council had bugger all say in this, which is why they've cracked it. I don't think it's specifically directed at us, rather that they aren't part of the process and calling the shots.

65,000 members demand an explanation.

Kate Roffey needs to go. Disconnected to the key issues at the club.

Clearly either too arrogant or incompetent.

Also, maybe I am totally off target, but it seems to me that a source or sources, within the club are intent on leaking to the media.  That, in and of itself suggests disunity and disconnection.

FFS this is amateur hour.

If you’re going to do an interview, representing the club in a time of (perceived or real, take your pick) turmoil, you don’t add to the turmoil by not having all your ducks in a row and being consistent in answering very straightforward questions.

Does anybody have their hands on the steering wheel?

My thoughts. With significant media management experience my view this is amateur hour media wise for sure.

What was Kate thinking.

You never give the media what they want. Just what you want. Why pander to Whately and go in under prepared anyway.

Sheeeesh.

Love Roffey. We are so lucky to have a strong and brave leader in Kate.

Thought her interview today was FANTASTIC.

Go Dees!

So far some people  have discovered absolute genii at Club Administration.

If Kate kept on butting in on Footy matters then she would be classed " interfering "shiela" who does not have a clue about football (and does not know her place).

If Pert started telling the Coach how to coach and manage footy.........well !!

If Goodwin started to tell the Medical Staff how to do their job(s), then........

But if you are a fooballa you must by (media)virtue know everythink. None of the responsibility is yours but you can lay on your back and kick your heels and then the most knowledgable people, the media  in the hole world will automatically assume you must be right ,because a lot of the media are ex -footballers .

From what appeared somewhere ,just before the nightman came and collected ......   One of the criticisms was that no one came to visit our footballa in intensive care. A bit of logic here, that if you are in intensive care ,visitation rights are extremley limited (by nature of the reason you are in intensive care), so the last thing you need is a pile of teammates calling in on the way home from dressup day.

I am just sick of this media driven exercise who suddenly assume they are Club Administrators, Medical Specialists, Psychiatrists etc except in most cases they are Hans Christian Andersons !!

I sincerely hope that Christian Petracca  fulfils the contract he willingly SIGNED up for even though it is with a Club that does not play in front of bid enough crowds.

She lost me with her quip at the election some time ago saying the MCC wouldn't want any "Joey from Moe" getting on the board...

But what a shocker today after being absent for months...

After she made that comment, along with the one that "Joey from Moe" wouldn't be an MCC member, both crass, elitist , plain dumb and absolutely incorrect., I wrote to Ms Roffey.

I was concise and polite, as a 50 year resident and worker in and around Moe, making it clear how I regarded her "throw away" (?) lines. I also pointed out how Bernie Vince played for the mighty Moe Lions after leaving the Demons, and former (2 games) player Declan Keilty is the current captain coach. Current Suns stars Bailey Humphrey and Sam Flanders are both from Moe.

I was disappointed but hardly surprised she did not reply.

Everyone who was crying out to hear from her, you got your wish.

I’m sorry my good sir, but Flanders is from mighty Fish Creek

I've just listened to the interview and don't understand what the hysteria is about. I turned off after listening to the first dingbat that called in afterwards.

As an aside, Phil Davis has such a calm and measured tone. I don't think I've heard him speak before but he's wasted on talkback radio.

Absolutely correct, though he completed his schooling in Moe and played for the Lions, though mainly Gippsland Power.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
