Benny was unbelievable during that '21 finals series. He'll be a much loved figure in retirement.

Hopefully we find a role for him off field so we can keep him around the club.

He continues as 'Talls Coach' with the women. Not hard to imagine him continuing and advancing in our AFLW program.

Was just thinking the same thing. Don’t know the bloke, but he seems to be a very genuine and cool headed person.

Type of guy you just want around the club.

Thanks BBB! So happy he got a flag

His goal in the 2nd Quarter of the GF when nothing was going our way was so clutch.

Blessed to have him in the Red and Blue for 45 games. All the best BBB - forever a premiership Demon!

Benny has not only been a great footballer across two clubs, but from what I’ve seen and heard, he’s a gentleman of the highest order and an outstanding human being.  This is a very rare combination of personal traits.
Huge thanks Benny, and all the very best for whatever path(s) you pursue in retirement as a player.

What a great get for our club.  On and off the field.  These are the characters that make a club great.

Loved what he brought on the field.  Really straightened us up and sometimes forced the oppo to play an extra tall and go outside their usual 'preferred' line up down back.

He also drew plenty of frees just through worrying his opponent as he would attenpt to mark the ball at its highest point on the lead and did so quite often.

There were the little one percenters.  A hand in here.  A fingertip there.  An outlet relief mark down the line to help out Maxy on occasions.  Sometimes he'd even drift right down to the last line for the odd intercept save the day mark.

His accuracy was also up there, which meant if you could get it into his hands he would goal more often than not.

Who'll ever forget his mark from behind and goal as apart of the bang bang bang bang passages late in the third.

The Dennis Lillee run up!

Thanks a million Benny boy and enjoy the after life.

Hnmm I am pondering this, he was excellent yesterday from all accounts and 6 goals in a losing team with average delivery makes it a "Brilliant "game. But who would he replace?? Petty played his best game of the season as did Disco, so that leaves a rejig of forwards. Could we be tempted to go tall with Petty, Disco,Rooey, and BBB??? this could mean dropping Chandler, who has been OK, or someone else. I would say Sparrow will be missing so obviously Milkshake is in the 22, anyway would NOT begrudge him a farewell game at all. He has been fantastic for MFC and is a TOP BLOKE as well! Thoughts??

Or you just thank him for his premiership career at the MFC and move on.

Not like Heppell a captain & 250 games for the one club

Interesting that he isn’t being used to help teach our forwards proper leading patterns.
Could he, were he interested, make the perfect  replacement forward coach for Stafford?  Seems very well liked, and respected.

Nope same as Gus if you're interested in coaching cut your teeth somewhere else first, to close to the players to do that role.

Congratulations on your career BBB. You certainly didn't leave anything out there, but Old Father Time is a persistent bastard who always wins in the end. Not everyone gets a fairytale ending.

To celebrate, instead of the usual 3/4 time "Race against a Demon", we should have the spectator start at the usual position (left-hand back flank facing the City End) against BBB with a footy, starting his run-up at the same spot. The spectator runs around the boundary, as usual, while BBB does his run-up to take a shot from the fifty at the City End. If the spectator beats the ball across the goal line, they win. For extra points, BBB has to bounce every 15m -- I reckon his standard run-up requires two anyway.😅 One last sideshow for SideShow Bob! 😀🤣

I teared up watching the video of him speak to the players. When he said his mind was willing but his body wasn’t capable, I felt that deep in my soul.

A huge thank you to our Big Ben Brown who joined us at a super critical time in our history and helped us break our 57 year drought, which has bought so much joy and happiness to all Demon supporters. Enjoy your retirement Ben and good luck for your future.

Was an even better player than his stats attest, and his stats are pretty damn good.
And as everyone else is saying, gave the club so much more in other areas as well.

Well done, Ben!

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
