So he says but I'm still here........

Christian Petracca endorsed this news on social media. Good enough for me

Any chance you can tell us how many are on the list bin?

Happy for Jack, likely a year too long but that's the industry currently. I just really hope we don't waste top picks on trades for guys like Houston. We need to keep taking the best available youth or players no older than 25-26.

Actually not that many to he honest. I tend just to skip posts by posters who grind my gears or burn my bacon.

I just checked. 28 in total. But I've posting on demonland for a long time.

Mainly 'characters' that are long gone (mostly banned) -  eg lord nev, tonatopia (the first poster i ignored), curry and beer, matsuo basho, dee-luded (not to be confused with deeeluded, stuie (lord nev's intense first incarnation), osilik and uncle fester.

And a small handful of current posters.

i'm sure MFC have put contingencies in JV and MG's contracts for their final season or two.  It would clearly be irresponsible to not, given Jack's body and Max being one proper knee injury away from retirement.

Payments based off actual games played per season, allowing for early retirement, front loading and adapting into a coaching role etc are all in play for these two.

The negativity around here from some is just depressing.

I am confident Max will still be a top liner in three years but less confident in Jack will be in four. Would love to be proven wrong.

The part we don’t know is what they’ll be earning in the final years of their contracts. They both would have cleaned up already so it could be quite low.

I remember Matsuo Basho 😂.

I think Lord Nev might be back binman. There’s a new poster with a very similar style.

If you don’t hear back perhaps you’re on the list 😲

I doubt it.

But if true, good on him.

I'm fairly sure

I heard a few comments from someone who'd know on how his last deal progressed in final days... Some similarities here, external interest in media, then an announcement

I agree, good on him, know your worth and strike while the iron is hot

Can you imagine the panicked fire fighting at MFC last few days... I'd be surprised if there wasn't a good news premium.

Eat a bag Deloitte.

So it seems Jack's yeah-nah which launched 1000 posts on Sunday was probably a case of having already signed, but then remembering the press release wouldn't be announced until early in the week following the captain's.

No way Jack managed to write a 400-word missive in under three days.

Don't tell me we have another poster who thinks he never loses an argument.

Gee that's a trip down memory lane.

Never in doubt. Legend.

Yeah right.

Interesting length of the deal.

Anywho.. congrats.

I would have been able to tell you, but since becoming a God, I've lost all user access for binners. Sorry about that.

Huh?

Boomer was 76 and had played 873 games when he finished. That's not early.

He was still in his peak as a player and I’m talking about a leader of the club. Leadership, hero worship and loyalty play part in culture. It’s not just about pure playing ability.

I’m a bit confused 🫤

You say he’s a favourite and great player - you admit you know none of the details of the contract extension but somehow conclude it’s a bad list management decision

Bizarre to say the least

You can have a favourite player and also think long term for the club.

I don't know the details of payments. But I don't think Jack will be in the seniors in his final years of the contract and think it's a mistake giving them to him this far out.

He plays his best as an inside midfielder and he isn't able to play another position.

I didn't think Buddy would play out his 9 year contract at the Swans and was wrong about that and hope I'm not correct here.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
