The only sense I can make of it is that he is listening to bad advice. Time for Nonna to have a stern conversation with young Christian about life priorities.

Even nonna is upset.

Tracs not going anywhere.

i don’t know the details of his current contract, but he struck it at his high water mark, and NO club is going to offer a recently seriously injured 29 year old gun player a better five year deal than he’s on now.
And there’s zero chance the MFC would pay part of his salary to facilitate a trade.

It’s all smoke and bravado.

There's a Mr Kerrigan on the blower for you....

Grievance tribunal would be a pathetic Hail Mary from Trac and his team.  Hard to know if this is navel gazing by those in the media or leaked by his “advisors”. If the latter they are clearly desperate and clutching at straws for any leverage. The club should (and hopefully will) hold firm like anyone holding all the cards should. “Stay on target, stay on target”….. sadly we are not at the stage where we can finish the Star Wars quote: “almost there, almost there”.

The club should call his bluff. To try to get out of a massive contract by taking it to the grievance council is a huge red flag for any other club thinking about picking him up. Even if he succeeded I doubt he'd have much trust from his new club or the playing group.

He'd probably tarnish his "brand" too, whatever that is.

it seems the longer this saga goes on the more everybody's brand is going down the toilet

tracc's advisors have certainly adopted a strange strategy to date

it's going to be a lot more than just bridges burnt ... more like carpet bombing

Christian Petracca could force a trade away from Melbourne via the AFL’s grievance tribunal

The Herald Sun can reveal there is a process through the AFL’s collective bargaining agreement where he could ask the AFL to step in to broker a trade through mediation if all attempts to convince the Demons he wants a new start fail.

The grievance tribunal is the nuclear option and has never been used before but is detailed in the AFL’s collective bargaining agreement.

The AFLPA is aware of the grievance tribunal, with some player agents in the league believing Petracca would have a case given the list of issues he has with the Demons.

The first option for Petracca would be opening up on his reasons for a trade - redacted various issues -which could help force the club’s hand.

No way would they help him get to the club he wants. AFL have no interest seeing a star player walk out on his club without the club getting a fair return

If he takes a year off, maybe Home Brand can sponsor him?

There's a few who would and who have the trade capital: North, Richmond, WCE, GCS etc. Doesn't fit what he's saying he wants, but they are out there.

Nor do they have any interest in the integrity of their contracts being brought into question. Nor the integrity of their medical team who signed off on our management of his injury.

Trac might think his brand matters, but the AFL does not suffer fools who try to damage their brand.

The whatever it takes strategy. Appears there is a very short list of high profile clubs his group wants him to go to and appear prepared if they have to, use rough house tactics and bullying to get the desired destination.

I almost want it to go this way to show Christian whose brand matters most, it would not be pretty for Brand Petracca if he went against the AFL

He can air all his grievances at a “grievance tribunal “ but the AFL are not going to acquiesce to his demand  to only go to a big club nor would they countenance the MFC not getting the proper compensation. After all we would only be holding him to his contract if we don’t get adequate compensation.

The last sentence is such an obvious point.

I mean how many clubs want to spend a million bucks a year on a player that prospective teammates thinks is a diva?

He is only gone only if we get a fair deal.

Blues Pick 11,pick 31 and future 1st?

Don's pick 8, pick 28 and future 1st?

Could be a smokey. They are a pretty big club but no finals- tracc the difference?

Blues could trade McKay to Don's.

We get the bounty from Blues for Tracc??

May well be if Blues want tracc they have to move on a big money player  for cap reasons.

How can any of that be considered ‘fair compensation’.

We got two firsts and a second for Jackson?

One point that hasn’t been brought up in this thread is; If he does have a preferred destination club or clubs surely he would have been in communication with these clubs to gauge any interest in his future services. If they declined then highly unlikely he would have pulled this stunt on us.
