If we move on trac, it can't be less than a top 5 pick, best 22 player and future 1st.

We then go hell for leather in bringing across Butters or Callaghan at the end of next year. Or Harley Reid though West Coast aren't going to give him up easily.

We won a flag but it was in Perth and it hasn't been that rosy since. Could argue the curse of Norm Smith is still with us.

Perhaps the answer is we need to trade our most recently Norm Smith medallist, sending the curse to another club...?

Trade him to Collingwood.

So according to McClure these are the 5 points why trac wants out.

Clubs refusal to deal with Oliver situation

Clubs management of his injury

Clubs poor form

Wants to play in front of bigger crowds

Wants to establish his offield brand and offield earnings.

Who is leaking this out?

I can understand being frustrated with Oliver & maybe letting it get to far, injury, ok he should have not been allowed back on in hindsight, he didn't have an issue with crowds when he signed on for 5 years.

His offield brand. Well he can establish that himself.  Is he going to turn into an influencer

TDK could do amazing things for our system.

Yeah he would be great for us or pretty much any team. He would be in the handful of untouchables at Carlton though.

I don't see that any clubs, yet alone Melbourne-based clubs, have the trade capital, not to mention the A-grade player to throw in. Apparently Hawthorn interested (though who knows ...), but they only have Pick 12 and ???

Except he is under contract and can only move at our pleasure

The strategy appears to be to make life as difficult as possible for the club in the following ways:

1. A personal media embargo, including pulling out of an interview last minute

2. All media leaks being done through his management on Sunday and Monday nights, when the footy shows are on

3. Burning relationships with his teammates and hoping the players can apply the burn for him by saying they're not keen to play with him

4. Knowing the club leaders are/should be under pressure and trying to force them to make statements they can't confidently keep to

I still remember his first interview on AFL 360 when Lachie Neale was on . He broke down but I felt then he was a bit lukewarm on the MFC. Have always wondered how he quickly fulfilled his media/tv commitments but never once shot out even a few words to the supporters. As I’ve stated before ..he’s obviously a sensational player but if the mental anguish he has been feeling is rivalling the physical trauma then who knows how he will be next year. We can’t fulfill the big club/big crowds ..Casey training grounds so if he wants to go let’s play absolute hard ball & set ourselves up. There is no way the club will be saying anything else but he’s here to stay etc because they will be aiming for the best deal going round.

Would you do Cerra and Carlton’s first pick this year and 1st next year?

Christian was all in on the dees. Signed on to be a player for life. The club have dropped the ball to let this happen. Pure incompetence

His brand has exploded in the years since he signed that contract, thanks to the cooking. Presumably his priorities have changed.

No way... Cerra's soft tissue injuries are a concern.

These are way unders for a top 5 player in the league.

Cerra doesn't excite me and neither of those picks are likely to be top 10 so no from me.

Pick 12 and Frosty?

How would a club that values their cohesion and culture feel about welcoming someone who has gone to town burning their club/teammates, for the sake of growing their social media profile?

He will have been getting well advised by Connors and his brother for weeks. They must think they can get a deal done.

Yep. They would surely have told him that a deal would be impossible unless he was willing to blow things up over the course of weeks on end. Many of us are so sick of this that we're thinking about the return we could get, two weeks ago that was unthinkable.

The remark earlier here that Trac isn't himself post-injury trauma is something that I can confirm on a personal level (to some extent, not comparing my experiences to anyone else's). You see the world differently, small issues get magnified out of all proportion, you lose sight of the big picture and it takes good people and support to keep you on the straight and narrow and restore some measure of equilibrium.

No idea of anything re Trac, but wouldn't surprise me if he was struggling, nor that he might not fully grasp that he was.

Alternatively it could be that the injury/trauma made him reassess his life/career and a desire to move on from a place he can see hasn't addressed the concerns he's raised previously or from a place that will never be the big club he wants to be part of etc.

To the other parties it can look as though he is not himself but it may just be that his priorities have changed or that he has made a decision to go in a different direction. He is still himself he is just acting differently towards the club/players because he has decided he wants to be elsewhere.

Values and priorities are his prerogative to change at any stage of his life, and with that, there are a range of consequences, both desirable and undesirable, that he will accept, and that's ok.

Pursue things vigorously, and hold them lightly.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
