I'd like to see the club reward Kynan Brown with a full game for the next two games.

My view is that Marty Hore is not AFL standard. I think he is too slow and not a penetrating enough kick.

I would bring back Bowey for Hore.

If May is 100% fit, he should come in for Tomlinson, but there is no need to rush now.

Oliver should be managed if he is no good. Woewodin or K Brown could come into the side and I would push Sparrow into the midfield more if Oliver goes out.

I would like to see Melksham retained on our list on a one year deal, but I can see the logic in giving Woewodin, K Brown or AMW a game ahead of him this week and/or next.

I think we need to go with Turner, JVR and Petty another week.

I’m not bringing May back under any circumstances. Rest up big fella, you’re needed in 2025

Unless we’ve seen enough to make a call there’s no player I want to see more than Marty Hore the next 2 weeks. He’s the only out of contract player we have who’s not a young developmental player nor an older veteran.

Given there’s not much on the line I’d like to give him the chance to push his case for another year.

GameDay:

VFL (Curtain raiser): Gold Coast vs Casey

Gates open at 9.45am

Game starts at 10am

To attend the VFL match you need to have your official AFL match-day ticket.

AFL: Gold Coast vs Melbourne

Main gates open at 11:45am

Game starts at 1:45pm

The cheer squad will be sitting in Bay 148.

The QLD Demons will probably gather for a prematch get-together but I’m not aware of details. If anyone would like details I can find out. I personally will be attending the Casey match.

For those attending the match/es, please feel free to come and grab a flag or a giant head, (so long as they’re returned after the match). The more colour and noise, the better. As always, we want the boys to know we’re there to support them.

Captain’s run on Friday at People First Stadium.

Very wet start to the week in the GC however come Saturday, beautiful and 27°. Be nice to beat the Suns on a ground they have dominated at this season.

Surely you need to add Mr Jefferson

I am SOOOOOO excited for my trip to the Gold Coast.

lovely 6:30am flight up into some 10am beers, then 11am beers, then 12pm beers, then an uber to the ground and a cart to take me to surfers for some ribs and beer tasting at house of brews.

For everyone talking about the game style right now both good and bad I have an question for you and I'm keen to hear the responses:

- Would you like to see us attempt to play an attacking, free flowing, 'through the middle' style of footy and see us try to develop this even if it means potentially being smacked by 10 goals plus?

OR

- Do you want to see us go up there and put up a fight with the strangle approach we used against Port? It won't be pretty but if executed we may lose by a small margin or even get a win.

Keen to hear your thoughts.

I see so you want to continue to play Petty at CHF after kicking no goals last week and 6 for the season??🤮 As for Melksham who has been poor 3 weeks in a row??Surely its time to see what Jeffo can do? Perfect opportunity to Blood

I'd personally like to try a different more exiting and watchable game style, nothing to lose now but supporters will appreciate seeing something different whether it works right away or not.

Perfect opportunity to ruin a kid, Jefferson isn't kicking goals in this side atm. Nor is he taking 7 marks and 8 contested possessions as Petty did.

Petty is averaging 11 disp and 5.8 marks over the last 6 weeks.  He is finding form, I don't think he is a forward but bringing in a young kid who is inconsistent at VFL level into a side that is missing Brayshway, Oliver, Petracca, May and Windsor is asking to kill his confidence.  For 2 games, 0 point to it.

Yup Melk has been poor, but we need some experienced heads in the team.  I'm fine if he is dropped though, hard fo players to have immediate impact after a knee, let alone a 32yo

Couldn't give a stuff about the other positions, just want to see these inclusions and positional moves.

I'd choose option 2 if I thought our fitness could get us through the last quarter and subsequently win a low scoring arm wrestle. Our fitness (or lack thereof) clearly won't allow this.

I suspect option 2 will eventuate regardless but the Suns will run all over us in the last quarter as we'll tire in the heat.

Goodwin might need to look at option 1 over summer provided we have the personnel to execute that type of attacking game plan.

Option 2.

If we go down option 1,  we will be mid table or slightly worse for a number of years.  We will get killed on turnover one out of every two weeks.

I wouldn’t try and use logic with an irrational person

In: Bowey, Woey, Laurie, K Brown
Out: Howes, Billings, Oliver, Melksham

McVee and Rivers a half in the midfield each.

Viney to do his thing for 75% of the game.

Sparrow, Laurie, Kolt, ANB, Pickett all frequently rotating as the 3rd mid.

Next week is the week for goodbyes or hellos.

FB: McVee Tomlinson Hore
HB: Salem McDonald Lever
C; Langdon Rivers Woey
HF: ANB Petty Chandler
FF: Fritsch JVR Pickett
Foll: Gawn Sparrow Viney
Int: Bowey Laurie Kolt Turner
S: K Brown

What statement might that be, given that the club has known for weeks that Nibbler is leaving?

Not against this. Certainly in favour of the first three - I'm also in favour of the sub being not Melksham, but not sure if he deserves to be dropped.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
