I will be forever thankful to Goody and the club for providing me with a long awaiting bucket list moment in September 2021. After many years of loving this  club through some extremely dark times, Goody gave me a moment in my life I will never forget.

His method has been consistently good, if the team had executed better we would have played in the last two prelims. They don't hand out top 4 spots in a packet of corn flakes.

And I'm sorry that 17 other clubs don't lay down and give up their generational talent. Be real, the Max replacement is never going to be satisfying, deal with it.

Lingers, Leb, Kolt, Disco, Roo and Petts all seem to agree.

No words in this thread will have any sort of effect on how things play out. The club will part with Goodwin when they feel the time is right. Judgement should be reserved once his tenure is complete, not during. 

He's lead this team to a flag before, no reason he can't do it again. I'm confident we'll be right in it again next year if we get a better run of injuries. Injuries has had a huge toll this year, along with Clarry's preseason. 

Resilience is required, both from the playing group and some very reactionary supporters around here.

Roller coaster, lots of ups and downs.

The most damning points here:

> Finish second last after making it to a PF

> 2020 the huge preseason and promise to be better (does anyone remember the documentary the club released). We lost our finals chance by performing awfully against two bottom 6 teams, Freo and Sydney. Had we won just one of those games we could've played finals. Win both as we should've and top 5 position was all but certain.

> Not being able to win even one final three years removed from the premiership, we lost all those games in a similar fashion. Great defence, not putting a score when commanding in those games, let the opposition come back in the last quarter.

Here to +1 any use of circle-jerks in correct circumstances like this one.

And +1 to the view generally. I hate potting the players/coach. I don't agree with everything Goody does, or any player for that matter, but you never will. Goody brought us a premiership, and consecutive top 4s. Yes, it didn't work out the way we wanted but them's the breaks. Lots of things had to go wrong (and indeed did). I hate the reactive 'sack them all' mentality when things go south. It's like we want to invoke the Norm Smith curse all over again. 

Just look at Bevo. Fans and media have been calling for his head for a while now, and look at them - in with a real shot of a flag and playing great footy. Those people are very quiet now/have quietly changed hats and are all of a sudden pro Bevo. I suspect the same thing will happen with us. The sack goody now thread will get very quiet, but there will be a good record of such champs.

I am disappointed by the year, and expect a thorough, proper level of scrutiny at what happened, what needs to be done etc, but we just need to make a few smart decisions, tweak some stuff then come out hungry and renewed. 

Anyway, as you say, the man to lead us through that is Goody and I back him, and importantly I think the boys do, too.

Needs to get himself a good assistant with some tactical knowledge of the game. Currently we play an obsolete brand of football.

I am somewhat on the fence after the past 18 months.

I don't think its time to go Goody but I am also not sure Goody is the still the Man.

If he can't rejuvenate the squad/gameplan over the preseason and we start like we are playing now, I don't think he will last past round 10.

2019. Banged up after finals in18. Only 2 players completed a full pre season

2022. Injuries cruelled any finals hopes yet nearly won both. Trac on 1 leg

2023. Finals selection issues by coach. Poor decisions. Oliver with 1 good hand. Brayshaw. Yet nearly won both.

2024. Nothing to work with due to injuries and no forward strategy. Flag midfield gone.

2025. Big things still expected

First I have heard of this..? Is there information or facts to back this up?

I know there for a few off season surgeries, but having only 2 players complete pre season is a bit far fetched to me... 

Have to be corrected if you've got information that states this.

You’re right, CF. There’s no denying it… I do lack objectivity. It’s not ideal on a forum like this one, but at least I own it. 

In this instance I was responding to @Red But Mostly Blue who’d said he thinks the boys back Goody. I was letting him know that the boys do back Goody.

But thanks for sharing your thoughts in a respectful manner. Much appreciated.

There was a video of Josh Mahony doing a presentation which covered our pre season.  Can't remember if it was the whole team or the whole midfield.  But he did point out that only 2 players had completed full pre seasons. Pretty sure one of them was Jordan Lewis.

But you obviously have much closer contact with the group. As a specialist in observing surrounding circumstances as a whole to make conclusions, I'd have to say my comfortable gut feeling is the group very much backs Goody.

From memory Dazzle something like 17 post season surgeries in 2019, which eventually netted us Jackson, Picket and Rivers.
