Does anyone really trust the club to make the right decisions at the present moment? I trust that once Guerra and Smith come in we will but now no. Our history is full of poor management and decisions, I hope one day we learn from them.

In respect to Goodwin I think he is a good coach and leader, with some old dogs not able to learn new tricks, or regressing into bad habits. But what is evident is one man does not have all the answers and an equally strong team of people around the coach is critical. In 21 we had Goodwin, Yze, Chaplin, and Burgess. All very strong in their roles, and leaders in their own right. I Don’t quite know what Richo’s role is in that but his role has been stable. Each year we have lost one of these keys, and equal replacement just don’t grow on trees. Add to that the playing personnel we have lost, Brayshaw, Nibbler, Jackson, again with not for like replacements, proves for a decline. Add to this an aging leadership group. A team like Geelong have maintained a strong stable off field leadership group whilst attracting solid footballers, but more so great leaders.

This off season we need to land a solid assistant, who will take over from Goodwin plus we need to move on probably Clarry with like player but with a lot more leadership (simple🫣) Maybe a Petty (Surely Adelaide’s offer is still there 🤣)

In the most perfect world we kept Burgess or got him back, Brayshaw didn’t get Ko’d and Yze stayed on to be to next coach. Oh for a perfect world.

Many on here suggesting Longmire,Buckley and Simpson based on their media performances. It’s not difficult to review footage select clips and impress the masses with knowledge.

Let’s select Johnson because he was a gun player, Jordan Lewis what exactly has he done to suggest he wants to coach, I’d have thought he’s firmly entrenched in the media.

Mail I have is Skipworth is probably the next cab off the rank as ready to take a senior gig, it’s a tough gig but there are lots of variables and don’t kid yourself that timing and back room stability isn’t a major impact on field

I’m not sure McRae would be an instant success without Nick Daicos (an absolute game changer) coming in and Maguire moving on

Geelong are a very strong club off field and I rate Scott as the best coach going around but he had many detractors for years saying he inherited a Premiership team but couldn’t get it done on his own.

Unless we finish horrifically I’m not keen on moving him without a list change up. Like some of our kids coming through and want some tough decisions made re some senior players

After he retired I would have thought coaching was a natural move for him as he does seem to have the brain for it. I'm actually surprised to hear that he's not in the AFL anymore, last I remember he'd gone back to GWS from Sydney. Probably a sign.

Yze responsible for 21 yet had no roll in the straight sets exits of 22 and 23, that is a myth

My thing on Oliver or any player who misses preseason due to behaviours is they need to earn their stripes & fitness back in the VFL, no issue in the contract he signed though I think all should be max 4 years, Yes Yze was part of 22-23 but Goodwin didn’t tweak game plan.

At first glance I'd agree but I remember a lot of people saying at the time how much he never shut up about tactics and stuff, seemed like he was very keen on it as well.

He jogs back, avoids any contact in backline, sprints forward for an easy possession, up and under kick with no strength, then hunched over hands on hips like an under 15 year old. Media hasn’t picked it up, just looks at possessions and kilometres run.

Don't people like Pennant St Dee realise we are in nosedive mode, irrelevant and putrid?? Jaheesus, fish rots first at the head. This coaching regime should be dead and buried, why are we putting up with LESS than mediocrity!?? NODDY LAND STUFF!

Find them a poor guide as there's far too many nuances to the game and some very rubbery interpretations to consider them valid. But the one extrapolation possible is where we are and where we're headed and as you suggest Mr Fence we're not pointing upward.
