Goodwin still deserves to turn things around next season but he's burnt his tickets up quicker than any other coach in recent memory.

He has coached poorly this year. And as a club we've been poor this year just as we were in 2019. It might take a while to right this ship. But it's definitely the end of an era.

He shouldn't continue past his current two year contract unless we AT LEAST make a GF again.

Needs another turnover of assistant coaches and other back room staff. Think it will happen. Probably time to move on from Williams and Stafford for starters.

I'm way more interested in looking into our fitness staff...

Goody is just tactically playing with whats possible with the lack of fitness across the list. We can't effectively cover the ground at the moment. If you want quick slick ball movement with run and handball like the dogs did tonight, you need a fit side with better conditioning. We were cooked...

Notice how none of our players are able to gain any separation from opponents at the moment? Especially our midfield. They're doing their best but just not fit enough for run and carry with quick chain ball movement.

Its not pretty but all we can manage at the moment is getting the ball forward with quick long kicks to get out of congestion to try to gain territory and win contest in the forward half. These tactics worked ok against Essendon and GWS in wetter conditions but on the dry quick surface of Marvel and Optus we were greatly exposed but fitter sides that could run and spread.

Goodwin should be asked questions as he plays a part in planning out training and recovery. But would really love some please explains from our fitness/strength and conditioning team. Did we get our preparation wrong? Did the brutal schedule to start the season have an impact on how we've run out the rest of the season. Its like 2022 again but worse....

To maintain a competitive list you need both trading and drafting to be on point. We built our flag with draft + Langdon, Lever, Hibberd, Melksham, May. We haven't added a single solid piece since.

Josh Mahoney had a hand in all of those trades

Explain why and before you type

We didn’t win a flag, which I am well aware of but please explain why they were bad seasons and not just bad finals campaigns?

they were bad seasons because we weren't just there to make up the numbers in finals. not winning a final in both seasons made them bad seasons.

So what's the answer? Sack Goody and bring in who exactly? Simpson? Buckley? Graeme Yeats? Frankie Fredericks?

I'll have salt on my peanuts if you're coming back from the gallery thanks.

Someone who's not terrified to actually attack the game rather than defend it would be nice.
Who knows .... A few more supporters might even turn up to watch, buy a few memberships etc.

Good call - painfully obvious from the upper decks of Marvel that we couldn't cover the ground.  Fitness, Fitness, Fitness

That is 100% on the money. I’m not saying we go back to 2018 attacking style, but we have gone way over the top with defence. We have lost all dare and creativity. No wonder the effort is waning.

This was genuinely a lost year - we gained nothing game plan wise. Yes saw some kids, but our plan is diabolical and rudderless.

2025 is not going to be smooth sailing if we keep this up. We need to see something, some positivity. Hell I’d even take winning 2 consecutive quarters.

I'd honestly hate to play for Goodwin.
These kids that make it to the bigtime do it because they played with some flair.
Then they get here and it's coached out've them.

Our KPI is to keep the opposition under 60pts and somehow hope we manage to rugby scrum 61pts.
Inspiring stuff .... Not.

It’s why we couldn’t get there in 22 and 23, in my opinion. We’ve got the contest and defence bits right, but what happens afterwards is just a lottery.

There seems to be no plan once we are in forward possession, other than kick it long to a contest in the pocket. The obvious problem with the long kick, is that it gives the opposing defence time to position themselves, so that the contest is, at best, 50/50. If we do mark it, its then in the pocket and not somewhere in front, which obviously leads to inaccurate kicking.

I just don’t see how you can win games of football like that.

Weirdly, it seemed like we started the season playing a much more accurate, free-flowing game style, but then stopped somewhere after the Geelong game.

Good strategic coach. Becoming more evident by the week he has no idea about his players.  Sparrow on Bont was ridiculous.

He'll get and deserves another season.

No question this season has not met expectations. In mitigation we've had a bad run with injury. Losing Gus was a shocker and left a big hole. As others have pointed out the strength and conditioning program needs to be looked at. I don't understand how we can look so flat against a team coming off a 5-day break. Need to get our trades right and bring in some midfield depth.

Let's see where we sit at the end of 2025. Miss finals again and the head coach position will have to be looked at.
