Come on guys.

3 hours left, we need to stick together.

Arguably we are together, Layz, all in this same room called (if I remember rightly) the 'Oliver-something-or-other' thread.

Just all with our backs to eachother...

I second those saying that things have got particularly unpleasant on here the last few months.

There are a couple of posters with a pathological desire to always be ‘right’. It shows such a complete disregard for almost everyone else who uses this site when they chase each other across threads arguing the same points, or take an opposing view because someone had the audacity to challenge their opinion at one point. And if those users think we don’t see the baiting that goes on most of us do, and it’s boring and immature.

I read a fascinating statistic about social media (of which Demonland is part of) this week. 90% of content is posted by less than 20% of users. Which means somewhere in the vicinity of 70% of opinion goes unheard, and most likely fills the middle ground. Essentially what I’m saying is if you’ve made your point trust that it’s been read, and move on and leave some space for other ideas.

I love this place and value it enormously, but I wish it was more fun, more conversational, and we could all be less rigid.

“Toxic” is such an overused word that really has no substance. It gets thrown around way too often. The club has faced relentless scrutiny from the media of late; the future of our biggest stars has been questioned, the President (who we hadn’t heard from in months) spoke to the media and resigned shortly after. The list goes on. People join and post on here because they’re (predominantly) diehard fans. When things aren’t going well (and even when the club is kicking goals), people come on here to vent, give their opinion, read other posters opinions and provide a comment. There’s naturally going to be butting of heads. If you can’t handle your opinions or comments being questioned, disagreed with or challenged, perhaps an online forum full of passionate fans just isn’t for you.

Toxic is the perfect word to describe Demonland at times. The fact you need such a long winded explanation to justify this behaviour..is kind of sad 😔

Let's just suppose that is correct. Then why are you dragging up an incident from mid-2022, purely between two players, one of whom doesn't go very well with alcohol. What has that got to do with the culture of the club? Why are you repeating rumours about Goody which are totally unsupported, which he flatly denies, and which are highly defamatory? Why are you saying that Clarry wanted to leave when he has made it completely clear that the only thing that got him even thinking of leaving were the (unsubstantiated) reports that the club was open to trading him?

No, you've lost me.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

You can go along with your head in the sand or you can admit that there are issues and hope the club gets on the right track so they can succeed. Clubs with this level of dysfunction rarely (if ever) succeed. That is what I want, a successful MFC. I don't care about the personalities, I want the club to succeed.

Of course the club isn't perfect, but it isn't as [censored] as some on here seem to want it to be or claim it is. The media's ability to almost unchallenged say we are a total shambles is prime in shaping perception.

Either way, winning solves everything. Although not enough for some.

Not justifying any behaviour. It’s just a fact of life. If you interact with others, you’re going to have disagreements and there will always interpersonal issues. Learn to work through it or deal with it. Giving it some “trendy” name or label isn’t going to do a damn thing. Perhaps the people who are offended by comments made by an anonymous person on an online public forum are the “toxic” ones. Do I “win” the argument by using that word?

It's never what you say, but how you say it.

Differing of opinions is healthy, natural and completely fine. As is venting.

But it says more about you, if you feel the need to constantly attack, belittle and railroad the opinions of others (not you personally), than it does about those who feel fed up with it.

Fair call. In written form, sometimes things can also be misinterpreted or taken the wrong way as well.

Just because it’s a fact of life doesn’t mean you don’t push back against it. Disagreement’s aren’t the problem here. Just be kind…..

That's a good idea in principle, but unfortunately with the differing personalities there are some who need to consistently be right and accepted as  being right, if not they will resort to personal attacks or degoratory remarks, such as delusional.

I am guilty sometimes as I like to 'play' at their insecurities, but try to use humour, such as 'having a battle of wits with an unarmed person'.

Myself, it is water of a duck's back, but can see how it can affect others or drive them off the board completely, which is disappointing, I went missing out of boredom with the negativity, but thought I would give it another try.

Putting posters on ignore is the answer for some.

There are so many pages on this thread because there are two camps of 'caring ' supporters, I use that word as I am sure they are both a small minority of the 60000 members.

There are those that think a lot of the so called issues are just media beatups, like myself,  the other camp thinking if there is smoke there must be fire, backed up by the media and pundits seeking clickbait,  rumour, hearsay and 'a close contact told me'

This idea that you are a better fan because you unquestioningly support the board or admin or the culture of the club is rubbish and it's tedious.

However, many on here think that if you think things aren’t as bad as the media say then you fall into this category, which is an opinion that lacks nuance. People just want to throw everyone on here in to two categories. One of the great problems of our times. Not to mention it’s just so god damn boring.

Now that Clarry and trac are both staying can we be done with the idea that where there is smoke there is fire. This just allows the bottom feeder journalists whose records are genuinely garbage, much worse than our clubs record, to be seen as relevant. Not to mention it turns this place into a [censored] show.

Here we go again. Just because deals were impossible to get done, doesn't mean that negotiations didn't take place.

So the media picked a random Geelong player (Rhys Stanley) to create a fictional story that Oliver met with Geelong players on a farm. Did the media go to the titles office to see which Geelong players own a farm?

Your comment is what turned this place into a [censored] show, not the media.

Really mo what enjoyment do you get extending the waste of space to the gutter journalists like Maclure and Barrett. That just wait and invent click bait to justify their incorrect judgement to embellish the situation,

Can't you see thst the farm meeting was a ploy for the media and Mackie was the most likely culprit in organising this fake news.

it’s yesterdays fish and chip wrappers and deserves the bin and not a relevant exercise in the trade story.

According to Wikipedia India averages the most derailments in the world.

Demonland must be closing in.

To be fair to India's remarkable rail service, it is relatively few derailments per passenger-km and cargo volume km.

In contrast, on some demonland threads the only sensation of movement at all is the derailments!

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
