Nope, we're still not a good team cause we copped 3-4 goals very quickly....

AMW awesome first qtr

Fabulous first half?

Nibbla's role on a rampagaing Merrett 💪🏼

What a diff a Milkshake makes!

And that Disco inferno!  Burn baby burn

My hat goes off to Nibbler.

Merritt could have been so damaging, but was kept reasonably quiet, particularly in the 2nd and 3rd quarters

Nibbler's fitness and ability to put on pressure was immense

The umpires tried to snatch it in the end, but no dice!!

GREAT WIN! My takeaways:

- I think we saw a rebirth for the team against the Lions. Great pressure for the whole game. Intense. Belief.

- The kids are the future. Disco kicking big goals, McVee’s skills in the wet, Kozzie doing things only he can. Rivers continues to step up. Windsor had another cracker. Great vision and speed. Jolt, love his grit.

- WITHOUT Trac and Gawn. No axtual ruck. This is our character.

- The bombers are FRAUDS and CHEATS! I’m glad we helped to show them up and help them back down the ladder (although their soft draw will continue to help).

- How good was Langdon?

- How missed was Melksham??

Great night, always love beating these mugs. Only disappointment was not winning by 40+ but I can live that that.

HERE WE COME!!!! 🔥💙❤️

Essendon are a danger to lose against the Crows next week.

I think the rain forcing centre square throwups must or should have been a great advantage to Draper.  The bad bounces are so random it takes away some of his natural advantages.

Indeed.

I expected we would win.

So certainly not against the odds from where I sit.

I tipped us so that counts as having faith

How [censored] good was that. Without our two greatest players, 8 point game, our kids dominated. We are suddenly looking ominous.

Great win, loved the effort, who cares about the last 5 mins. I am concerned about sparrow, bowser and Salem very ordinary and liabilities

That was bizarre umpiring in the last 5 minutes.

For example the bombers throwing the ball all night and they pluck one out of nowhere against rivers.

The umpiring is an absolute joke, they did what they could to get the Bombers back in it - I don't think they favour teams, they just get caught up with the crowd/momentum and err on the side of the team making the comeback.

Bunch of pea hearts the Peptides,

front running 💩

Credit to McKay.

They would have been list without him.

A thought experiment.

Imagine taking draper and Merrett out of the bombers team tonight (the equivalent of gawn and tracc).

I do not understand how that wasn’t a 50 to Lever at the end of the game, and I was going ballistic, and a security guard came over and told me to calm down, and everyone around us told him to [censored] off.

And people say Melbourne supporters are soft. We look after our own.

I had a great feeling about this one coming in but didn't want to mozz it. Even without Gawn our pressure game has really lifted the last couple of weeks and playing the kids instead of NQR journeyman has given the team a real shot of energy/enthusiasm. Plus Essendon are flakey, they crumble under pressure.

Dunno how we'll go for the rest of the year but if we keep getting games into the kids, keep giving midfield minutes to Riv and Koz and keep giving Roo more time up forward with Melksham and Fritsch I think we are in decent shape moving forward.

100%.
Love watching the young fellas go about their business.
Got abit of excitement about 'em.
And they can all kick .... Amazing.

Huge win! Last 5-10 minutes aside we were easily the better team tonight. To do that without our two best players was massive.

My personal standouts were Rivers and Langdon. Rivers looks set to be a gun midfielder. There barely seems to be a weakness in his game. Langdon easily had his best game in two years. He seemed to be on the decline early in the year but he's gradually returning to his old self.

Onwards and upwards! We're 10-7 and 6th, anything can happen from here.

Same here.

My right foot was playing up something shocking all day.

Judd mcvee is a 200 gamer right? Right??

He is an absolute star and seeing that [censored] stringer getting absolutely towelled up was just so amazing to see.

Heart and soul.

His critical defensive effort inside the bombers' 50 late in the first that started a scoring chain, ending with koz's goal was so important.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
