Let's never forget that Max is the leader and soul of this club. His clearing kick late in the game was up there with Kynan's tackle before it came back the other way.

Captain Max Gawn has a considerable lead over the injured reigning champion Christian Petracca in the Demonland Player of the Year Award. Alex Neal-Bullen, Steven May, & Jack Viney make up the Top 5. Your votes for the loss against the Kangaroos. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

In a parallel universe, maybe.

But in this universe WE WON 🥳

6.  Rivers by the length of the Flemington & with significant mid minutes ... 80% CBA!  Welcome to the mid field son!!!!!  Should've happened weeks ago but took a Tracc tragedy for Goody to pull the trigger.  Keep him there FCS

5.  Viney.  Best game since Rnd 4 but still a bit off with the most turnovers on the night of any player (8).

4.  May ...Larkey in red hot form coming in ...kept to zero goals.  Massive win for May and we don't win the match if he doesn't achieve the above (& Brown doesn't stick that tackle).  1 goal and we were done.

3.  Maxy.  Not his best match but still solid as and Xerri is a seriously good ruckman, including at ground level.  Norf have found a beauty here.

2. Salem.  Gutsy, reliable and serviceable until subbed.  Just needs to pull the trigger more often and quickly.  Bit slow to move ball on at times which sees opponent getting numbers behind the ball too often & forwards left to wonder... "what if!?"  His mate Bowey is the worst offender here though.  Let's hope Moniz has a solid game today.  Goodwin needs to bring him straight in for Bowey if so.  Massive liability down back on  present form.  Howes not far behind!

1.  ANB...a typical dour 'Nibbla' type game 💪🏼

worthy of one vote

McVee , Salem, Windsor, Sparrow, TMac,

AnB,

and thanks Pup for saving the 4 points.

JvR should only ruck in the F50. But getting better,  Petty  not a great game, but he was not man Friday.

Hard game this week

Honourable mention to K. Brown.  His first stat in the seniors was a goal-saving run-down tackle to preserve our three point lead.  You couldn't script it better for that kid.

Great effort, Kynan. Great to see Yze sitting next to Brown Snr, too. The two ingrained Demon Family members looked great together. Thinking of Yze, might it be possible for him to take over in 2025?

Maybe not worth a vote this week, but I thought Judd McVee stood up in the last quarter with three score-saving acts. A lovely side step and a strong mark followed by excellent kicks. And then a smother (which ANB pounced on).

Maybe, but even Might Gawnius Maximus does need a breather, and who else do we have.  Fullarton was supposed to fill that rôle but seems a bust.

When this season would Harry Petty have received 2 votes?

Against Geelong he took 9 marks and played ok.😁

Dunno about being a 'bust' just yet ... some things have impressed observers but the whole package could well not be there, just yet. If this is a maturing talent range that he 'might' have, he'd be handy, there is a spot for him to accelerate or help to organise his skills, understandings and contributions. Admittedly, it takes intensive coaching and staged roleplays so perhaps, that is an initial extension that has not really been worked through in his growth/development.

Ok but JvR should “rest” in the forward 50

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
