Did I say that? Answer: NO, I didn’t.

I am trying to let El Diablo know that he is spoiling Demonland for people and is one of the reasons folks will stop engaging on here.

And I’m not alone. I honestly can’t count the number of times I’ve been approached at functions/training/matches and been told that my optimism is much appreciated since there’s so much negativity on here. Just last night, going through the turnstiles at the G a guy asked me “Are you WalkingCivilWar?” Turns out he’s a reader but not a poster on here. He told me he loves my posts because of my positivity. This happens too often to be the exception to the norm.

My point is, yes everyone is entitled to an opinion. But no one should be surprised when the number and quality of posters plummets.

The best way to counter negative posts is to write positive posts. Posting more negative posts about other posters negative posts just exacerbates the issue and leads to threads spiralling in [censored] for tat.

Edit - there's also the ignore feature which works wonders 😉

The Team is “no longer invested”

I think you are right, they are (mostly) playing as individuals.

Why has this happened?….

Usually it's a result of poor performance, leads to self preservation etc

Is it a symptom or a cause?

I really liked Riv in the middle. I also thought that was Viney’s best game for months, and Max is just such a competitor.

One thing I really noticed last night was how slow we deliberately went forward. I think we decided to support our defensive structure at all costs with Lever out, and it definitely came at the expense of our ball movement. Our tall forwards were all flying in packs of 4-6 players. Our ball movement looked very 22-23.

In regards to ball movement I think it’s very obvious that Tracc is a massive loss, particularly forward of the middle. Imagine the Bulldogs without Bont. That’s what we’ve lost. Thinking about him in that way has certainly tempered my expectations for this year.

Could easily be both, but there is definitely a lack of Team Play.
Maybe they all need to watch both Adelaide games again, because that’s the last time we looked like a Team playing as one

Agreed. @Lucifers Hero has always been one of my favourite poster.

When gawn came on to do the ruck, I would have liked to see van rooyen go back to the forward line rather than sit on the bench.

Both ...they can oscillate until it blurs

I know Oliver didn't have a pre-season, we've now played 14 games, will he always be behind he 8ball this season or is there a point where he should reach parity - or even be fresher than the others?

They clearly hope so. Same goes for petty.

That's to say both players had severely interrupted preseasons.

And they have made the decision to try and get them somewhere near optimal fitness come finals by playing them in the ones.

Risky move, in so far as we have two underdone players in the 22.

But they obviously think this approach is better than playing them at Casey.

Petty was moving the best he has foe ages, so hopefully we're starting to see the results.

We did win didnt we?

Yes, however most seem to have missed that point

Absolutely loved Rivers in a bit more of a midfield role, one of his best games ever. Hope we give him even more time there next week. 559m gained, 6 I50s and 4 R50s, a goal and 21 touches!

Turner turned up today and that was good to see, he's getting better at positioning, which has been his weak point in my opinion.

Viney stepped up in clearances when needed, great performance. Only minor complaints to be had about his disposal efficiency otherwise he was immense.

Gawn and ANB with classy performances as always.

Tholstrup with about 50 tackles, loving the physicality hes bringing at such a young age here.

Sparrow showing some sparks, hopefully that continues.

Immense effort from Langdon, played 100% of the game and was absolutely everywhere, covered nearly 17km!

May with 9 intercepts, combining for SEVENTEEN total with Tommo.

Oh and of course Kynan Brown saving the game when only given 8 minutes of play time, hope we give him a real game soon, thought it was poor form to debut him as sub. Hope Salem is okay seems he was subbed off and sore.

Still a few passengers and some players having off nights, but was so nice to see some life from the players yesterday.

Hope Petracca recovers quickly and is doing okay, at least in a way this is making us try some other options in the mid. Would love to see Rivers playing even more mid time and maybe even Oliver at CHB next week, hes just a bit too rusty at this point and the taggers are getting to him.

I think Riv and Viney were the only significant positives from last night. Kolts first half for his 2nd game was also something to be happy about.

What ever Oliver issues were or still are which forced him to miss preseason, why was he not made to play @ Casey to build he’s fitness & form, in particular from a culture point of view

It’s was good enough to land a Premiership. I’d call that a great list..

Here's a thought that won't go down well on this site: perhaps it was a good but not great list, that was very well coached.

You put LJ, Brayshaw, Petracca, the 21 Oliver and Petty all back into the current line up........we'd have another Cup and be sitting a game below Sydney on the ladder. Losing LJ was huge but losing Brayshaw has been massive. Jeez he was a fantastic footballer.

Don’t be shy Ollie. There was nothing but opinion in your post.

It was very well said without offensive words.

but we disagree.

Having said that, the Goody haters may have an issue with him coaching well. 😂🤓😳😂

Coming off his best game of the year, kicking 3.1 on Darcy Moore, JVR had 68% game time last night and 19 ruck contests. That’s ridiculous. Are we trying to turn this guy into our best forward or not? Hardly giving him a chance to succeed as a forward with those numbers. In the ruck far too much

He’ll leave. Along with anyone with half a brain (or with a manager with half a brain). Windsor included.

It would be like playing Barassi in the Reserves...

What issues did Barassi have?

So he’s gifted games cause he’s won B &F , Cleary not fit enough & out of form .. he’s no different to any other player.

It’s baffling our best young forward Jvr who can clunk marks & kick well yet getting flogged in the ruck! Rather see Pertty or Turner ruck, what’s the difference we loose clearances each week!

Kynan Brown (8) got 3 less fantasy points than Fritsch (11) on the back of 1 tackle and 1 possession.

Clarry got 26 points. Prior to this year he’d get 100 in his sleep.

Fair to say there’s some room for improvement with regards to some of our top end players.

Especially the case with Petty. We have BB, Jefferson, Schache and arguably Fullarton all as KPF's , not sure how we even fit Petty into that group without compromising the others. Not to mention, Casey aren't exactly racking up enough I50's to give Petty a decent look at it.

Unless they wanted to play him down back, but that's a different discussion.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
