Isaac Cumming is an unrestricted free agent who I hope we are looking at. He would be a good replacement for Gus as that utility who can play halfback or on a wing.

Turns 26 in a few months so is in a good age bracket for us as well.

The only appeal of Cumming is that he's a free agent. But his form/age profile is the exact same as Hunter and Billings. He's out of favour for a reason.

We should be targeting players in their early 20's who have shown something, but can't get a game due to the quality of players ahead of them.

GWS have moved Callum Brown down back rather than play Cumming.

With king's output and injury history he is worth nothing more than 1, late 1st round pick at best. He's a big chance IMHO to end up in the schace, weid group of high draft pick key forwards who showed talent but ultimately fail. He's higher level than them Even  produced a 50 goal season but I don't see him being a gun forward in the afl

You have got to be kidding, don’t you? King is so far ahead of Schache and Weed, they would have been lucky to have played 6 good games each.   King has kicked more goals than Hawk, Curnow at the same age.   The other 2 combined have not kicked that many combined and they are at least 3-4 years older

He hasn't turned 26 and the only reason he hasn't played much this season is due to injury.

He played 24, 21 and 20 games the three years prior.

So completely different to Hunter and Billings.

I rate him as a medium intercepting defender and is a great kick of the footy. Would be in our starting 22 in my opinion. Gold Coast is rumoured to be very keen.

Max King’s body seemingly is not built for AFL footy. He is always breaking down and out for long periods of time.

Only played 83 games across 6 seasons. Handle with care.

I think it’s more to do with the parents. I’ve not heard that it was/is a player(s).

It’s probably pretty normal but there’s plenty of smoke around us at the moment.

And what's the smoke? Why are parents upset?

i can't fathom parents being 'upset' by a son's employer who pay them very, very well and want to make them the best they can be

Neither can I. Still, that’s what I was told at Kings Birthday.

I wish. It would be way more scandalous and interesting.

I could be a paid journo like the rest of those media muppets.

But parents are upset why...?

If you're going to put accusations out there at least give us something to work with.

Cummings’ got the skill and competitiveness that would add to our team.  He is a good player.  However not sure where he plays for MFC as he is a running defender.  We have plenty of half backs already.  I’m looking at young mids either through the trade or draft.

David Schwartz suggesting Dees go all out to get Max King - suggesting we could trade JVR for him!
I don’t think so Mr Schwartz.

Most insane thing Ive heard in a while. JVR has shown he can get there. Max reminds me of Weids.

I dream of us pulling a RIchmond style Caddy and Prestia but I doubt there is the talent available.

bloods have lost two games by, what, 3 points in total?

imo they're still the team to beat

and if they DON'T win the premiership given the season that they're having - akin to us in 2021, geetroit in 2022 - then it should be seen as a failure

That’s their problem. We should be in the business of Beating all of these Clubs

Take your pick really. I prefer we strengthen our list and stiff to whoever misses out. Based on the current team probably Howes misses out, but who knows next year.

Taking a wild stab, assume it is related to cultural issues which it would be a breach of site rules to discuss.

Cumming at half back would release Rivers to be permanent midfielder.

Which means Trac can play more forward??

Even Curnow had a rocky start to his career, almost certain to be a bust and look at him now.

Dees reportedly into waterman from WCE. Wants to stay at Eagles but is being lowballed.

Perfect if we can get him. Source FoxFooty The Tackle. Geelong also into him.

My mail on Waterman is caveat emptor.

King has kicked 159.115 in his first 5 seasons in a terrible team with zero skilled mids. Including a 52.49 season

And people compare him to Weid?

[censored] me. watch some football  He us 202cm  he would transform our team

Question marks over his body are there but I would give up 2 first rounders any say of the week for him

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
