Bont has a real knack of going missing in games when the Dogs are battling.

Or have you got that the wrong way round Ted?

How often do they win when he isn’t starring?

He rarely plays poorly.

How some coaches from some teams like the Doggies (and us) feel you can allow the likes of Neale, Daicos, Butters & Cripps (and most likely Harley from here) to run around without a heavy tag is astonishing.

There are always going to be situations when some oppos have one or maybe two absolute guns that need some serious attention or at least one more than you might have!

Any coach who thinks they aren't necessary is a little tra la la imho.

Not that I care but the Dogs are a bit stiff from a fixture point of view.

Tonight they played the Lions who have had 2 byes v 0 byes for the Dog. Then next week they play Freo off their bye and the Dogs still wouldn’t have had a bye,

I’ve mentioned this already this year but I don’t think I’ve come across a coach in AFL that talks up his wins as much as Fagan. It’s like every win is a benchmark win against all the odds.

He already declared the win over the Dees as the club’s greatest ever win…until it wasn’t when they beat a lame GC in round 8.

the draw has become so much more unfair  in the last two years. it was already bad but the above example. [censored] me

Best results for the Dees in the event we win (operative word being event):

Richmond to beat Adelaide

Brisbane to beat Dogs

Hawthorn to beat GWS

North to beat West Coast

St Kilda to beat GC

Sydney to beat Geelong.

Carlton to beat Essendon

Incidentally that multi is paying $349 - 1

Got the first 2

Dogs weren't paid 6 or 7 HTB in the first half where the Lions player was tackled for a lot longer than frees paid the other way. Umps really set the tone.

What is this season?

Bulldogs looked like a contender last week. Now being thrashed by a depleted Lions who most likely won't make the 8. 🤯🤯🤯

Lions have a very soft fixture leading into Sept.

I think they play Saints TWICE in the next 7 rounds  FFS.

Also play other junk sides + Essen-done who will be done by r24 at the Gabba.

They might finish with 13 + a draw. That gets them 7 or 8th place.

The AFL draw is a hot mess. Suns fixture us laughable its so rigged.

They had to help premiership coach Dimma, it wouldn't look good  if they missed the 8 after all the hype and 12 years wasted by that club.

I think you’re getting the Suns confused with the Brions..

The orange team should’ve worn charcoal today.

Love watching Hogan play.

It’s hard to watch him, when he is the missing link in our side. But i wish him all the best

Could probably have had him a couple of years back when his contract was renewed. At that time he was not setting GWS alight.

I’m sure enquiries were made. Finding a Key Forward is not a new problem

See if west coast can beat nth without Harley. Not sure how the commentary team will cope without being able to call him but it will be more interesting to count how many times the camera pans onto him

Every win is “season defining”

remember when there used to be good good Saturday games to watch?

we haven’t had a decent Sat night game in about 6 weeks

all these gimmick rounds like gather round and rival round have all the good clashes

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
