That was the most satisfying non Dee’s win of the year

Unlike Daicos senior, who carries on like a two bob watch in a kind of look-at-me way when one of his kids does anything, Darcy senior behaved like a mature and serious observer of the game when his son put a dagger through the Magpies' black hearts.

I loved everything Darcy junior did last night, from hitting Maynard to sealing the win. He is going to be one heck of a player and there will be a time when he gives us cause to hate him, so when that time comes I'll need to remember this game as consolation.

Excellent observation.

Luke Darcy seems to understand its Sam's turn now and quietly revels in it. He doesn't probably need to live vicariously through his children.

Daicos snr is just a bit weird. Not a bad thing but overexposure is beckoning.

Maybe Luke's got just a bit more on his plate than Peter?

Daicos boys are first rate anyway but in the last 1/4 It looked like Beveridge had a plan for Nick to curb influence at critical times.

But wasn’t Luke there working and Peter was in a corporate box on the juice? If my kid was winning games of AFL of his own boot I’d carry on however I like

I know we moan on missing players in the draft (ie Curnow/Weidmann).

But poor St Kilda must cry every time they see Bont, he’s an absolute gun (they picked Billings).

And McCartin before Trac.

Glad Maynard didn’t get knocked this game and will be playing against us. Jack over to you now to do with him as you wish.

Can all clubs get together and make this a weekly occurrence.

Someone must have been up all night.

Or is it a case of a very wishful-thinking 'Here's one I prepared earlier'?

Pretty amazing contested game from Nick Daicos. Any small lingering doubt about his work in this area, now completely dispelled. He's a tremendous player.

Yes, unfortunately won't happen

Geez Darcy is a player. He looks more composed that JUH and more consistent already.

Is it possible to just laud another player without denigrating one of ours ?

His head looks like Gerry Gee Junior doll

Any weekend that starts with a pies loss is a good one.

I thought concussion tests only happen to people with a brain!!

Due to my personal calendar and the footy fixture, I have watched a number of Bulldogs games this year. Over the past 4 weeks I have been impressed with their both method and form. And some of their young players are emerging quickly. They still have some defensive issues and the forward set up is messy at times, but they are going to cause some issues for those trying to get top eight positions 6,7, and 8.

I love the look of Sanders, O'Donnell and Darcy.

Agree 100%.  They are a quality side playing high class footy. If they get the timing right they could very well threaten at the business end.

If he stopped throwing his head back, lifting his arms when he gets tackled and sooking to the umpires all the time he would be enjoyable to watch

I mean Ugle-Hagan STILL hasn’t kicked a goal for us so I think it’s deserved?

(I genuinely can’t tell if this is a joke or serious comment)

Can Demonland make Darcy’s humping of Maynard video of the week please.

AFL umpire number 15... Nichols needs to get over himself and retire.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
