It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

Not yet here where the game is being played 😉

Looking for a strong, fast start. We know Dees have been finishing matches strongly, but too much left to do in matches we've lost from poor starts. Looking forward to McAdam's first game for the mighty Dees! ❤️💙

Really want the two teams with "Melbourne" in their name to get the job done today.

We have to be switched on from the get-go. Do that and we should win comfortably.

If we give the Eagles a sniff, then who knows.

I reckon we are rested now post the Carlton game and will not be complacent about this game.

10 goals to nil at half time would be some kind of payback for 2018

When we lose these games that we should win, it is losing the 1st quarter, especially the 1st 3 goals of the match. We need to silence the hope in the crowd barracking by winning the 1st 10 minutes. Im a bit worried.

I know this is not really the place to post this but didn’t want to start a new topic. However there is a very great read about Clayton Oliver in the HS today …very insightful. It’s fantastic to have some positivity for him & the club in the media. We don’t get a lot of it.

Is it just me or does everyone feel sick with these kind of matches that we should win.

The 2017-18 version dropped games we “should” have won.
2021- current team has hardly lost any games when overwhelming favourites. I have full confidence we don’t take any opposition lightly.

It's not just you.

We should win this.

Plus the chips (re other games) this round have fallen nicely for us so we can cement a top four spot.

It's forecast for 27 in Perth. Hopefully will cool in the evening but it may be a factor.

That said some dry conditions will suit us for a change.

So much hanging on our fwd line. Maybe Petty will lift but Fritta is due for a big one.

I feel reasonably comfortable that we have this by at least 3 goals.

Can't really afford to drop these so I'm sure we won't.

Enjoy the win.

But then again😄

Four points is the priority, but a percentage booster would be nice.

The Eagles are improving but the ground should give the team some positives vibes and conditions should suit us.

If we can’t win the first quarter against the Eagles then it doesn’t bode well for the rest of the season. Rome wasn’t built in a day but if the “learnings”  from slow starts cannot be demonstrated this week, when will they start to reveal themselves???

After watching JJ & Harmes the last 2 nights expect Jayden Hunt to have a blinder.

Feel like JJ and Harmes would be quite handy these days.

A very much under rated fact.

So much emphasis is placed on our straight sets finals exit in 2022 and 2023 that it obscures how successful we have been in the last 3.5 seasons.

Since the start of 2021, no team has won more games than us. And as you note a big factor is we don't lose many game we 'shouldn't'.

Of the top of my head the last one was our loss to the giants in the Alice last year.

And I'd add that another factor in our success is our ability to maintain a good percentage by not getting hammered

Watching the blues getting smashed and the suns monster the cats i wondered when the last time we were were smashed like that.

Sure, both sides were hit by injuries, but there have been any number of games we have lost where being decimated by injuries has been a big factor (including games where we have lost key players during the game) - and unlike the blues and cats, not got smashed.

And it makes a big difference.

At the end of this round we could be plus 20% against the blues, plus 12% against the blues and plus 10% against the giants.

A long way to go in the season, but anything over 10% at season's end is almost worth 4 points.

A nod to our indigenous players whom we hold dear on Doug Nicholls round.

delighted to see Salo and Smacca in the team - not expecting too much from either of them but a good first game to settle them both in. Hopefully BBB can clunk some marks up the ground and kick a snag or three. Happy to see him back also.

I can’t see us belting them, because that’s not what we do: but WCE not that proficient against good defences so we should be right in this one.

With BBB, Salem and McAdam in, I’m looking for us to really connect forward of centre and dominate on the scoreboard. Hopefully this will allow us to reset and settle our offensive game so we can build cohesion for the rest of the h&a season.

Looking for a 10 goal win with us keeping them to under 10.

Go Demons.

Second game on the trot for me and the young bloke!

hard to turn around in this town without seeing another article about Harley Reid. The boy can play, but one player doesn’t make a midfield.  They are no Cripps, Walsh, Cerra… and I don’t think Jack Viney will be as easy to ‘don’t argue’ as some of his other victims this year!

Weather will be glorious.. looking forward to a beautiful spectacle of slick ball movement against some blue and yellow witches hats.
