I'd pay that for Weitering.

Agree

As I said if I was the Bulldogs I would have traded JUH (to whom they are paying $1M) and got Weitering at $1.5M.

They are failing in the backline big time but with a key pillar down back they would move up into the next bracket.

We had our chance in 2014..

Id rather a player with something to prove. Martin has been far to content with his achievements post 2021 (And so he should be!)

We need a fast outside midfielder & a Key Forward with 5-8 years left in him!!

No club will be able to get Weitering out of Carlton, doesn’t matter what they offered him.

Naughton will play backline next year. They are just allowing Darcy to mature for another year.

Yep possibly, Darcy sadly looks promising.

I think Richmond's poor performances make it harder to tell if Dusty could play a restricted but dynamic short term role for a better side. It's more likely he walks into the sunset at season's end than to the Suns.

Has he been a top 50 player the last 3 years? Genuinely asking.

He's fallen very quickly in a short period of time. He should stay at the Tigers and retire end of year

Depends upon who is Coach maybe but you are correct on what should happen.

He would suit a different club . Horks or Norf perhaps. I think we've got enough youth coming through and enough middle stage talent to keep drafting kids. Our recruiting has been top notch.

There will be some free agents coming  up that suit us but our list is pretty healthy (in terms of age spread) .

Max will be hard to replace for so many reasons .We will need a ruckman at his peak in about 2 years that can take over until Kalani White settles into the role. 27-29 year old maybe. It's a shame Manbag/Bun din't work out but he'll love Sydney.

Could eaily be Tmacs testimonial year and what a great servant he has been for so long and through so many dark years.

Love the out of the box thinking Travy but after least year I'm a bit tapped out when it comes to recruiting for 1 - 2 punch ideas.

There was some commentary on SEN this morning regarding Dusty and some callers suggestions he'd suit North. I tend to agree with the Sam Edmund and Josh Jenkins (I know, I know) take that he wouldn't suit North as he is seemingly not in the mould of the Hodge, Lewis, Cross category of a 'vocal' leader. Sure, leadership can come in many forms and I do acknowledge that, but Martin seems to be extremely reserved and insular.

You might get some cash injection from a marketing perspective, but given his output over the last two seasons, and his apparent on-field disposition, I don't think I'd be chasing him and hope to get the Luke Hodge educator/general role.

From a Dees perspective, it's also a categoric 'no' in my opinion. Even if he came cheaply, I think we have far greater needs with our current list and I don't necessarily see him filling a role in a meaningful capacity, as it stands.

Dusty will clock up his 300 in yellow & black and retire a Tigers legend. He has lost his motivation to do the hard yards required to stay on top. Perfectly understandable, has had a stellar career and its time for him to plan his post playing life.

I think Dusty has switched off. We have put time & $$ into our development and these blokes could be 10 year players so a short term fix does not strengthen the Playing list.

Big time, went from being the most damaging player in the comp to just being an ‘ok’ player. You’d be paying for the Dusty Martin brand too over what he is now in reality.

The biggest argument for taking him at his name worth, is that he historically performs in finals to a freakish degree.

Yes that is the only consideration.

Would he be motivated to play for another Club in September ?

"Historically" the key word there.

Dusty was a bona fide great of the game, but we ruined him in his 250th on ANZAC Eve 2021.

Why would Dusty leave Richmond for Norf or Hawf? I think if he was going to play for a non-contender he’d just stay where he’s comfortable.

It's a hypothetical question at theis stage and I'm not sure a contender would want him on their list either.

Get Max King from the Saints is my thinking.

He might just need a change of scenery.

Throw money at him and find some speed in the draft mid season or end if season...

Somehow!!! ( lol)

🥳 CONGRATULATIONS DUSTY! 🥳

300 games. What an outstanding career from an absolute champion of the game. The word ‘legend’ gets bandied around willy-nilly, but in this case it’s justified.

This pic was taken this morning at Richmond training. A fellow-Dees fan asked Dusty to sign a Tigers Sherrin for a family member. Dusty obliged. He’s known for his shyness and his dislike for being in the spotlight so for him to engage with his adoring fans like this is exemplary.

He’s  the best I’ve ever seen I think. You can make a cases for Whitten, Barassi or Mathew’s . But Dusty had that explosiveness and potency with his kicks.

Still pains me he went in the draft at 3 when we had picks 1 and 2.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
