Windsor? Rated 40th out of 46 players. Ten disposals. Don’t get me wrong, I love him, but let’s be realistic.

To be honest I didn't want to give more votes after my top 3, so take them with a grain of salt.

6 Gawn - our only clear winner.

5 Rivers - a very good first half

4 Chandler - the only player up forward that looked dangerous.

3 T.Mac / solid game down back mainly on Gardiner. Should have been sent forward and swapped with Petty at halftime but the coach was also in bye mode.

2 Langdon - ran hard all night.

1 Viney - beaten badly in the first half like all our midfielders but came out after half time and provided a gutsy spark.

I'm tempted to give Salem six for escaping the slaughter, but here goes on a night to forget:

6 Gawn - the leader no one followed.

5 Lever - worked overtime under constant pressure due to non-existent midfield.

4 McDonald - slow but reliable.

3 Chandler - worked hard throughout.

2 Rivers - good in bursts.

1 Langdon - often had to lend a hand in defence.

I thought these were the Top 4    after that   they should pay us money for watching tripe.  Though JVR, Fritta and BBB at least kept playing in the 4th.   I think we needed the break, we were always just a touch of pace , behind them and not up with the ball.  Just disa ppointed

Easy selection tonight

Max Gawn -  6 votes

Tom Mcd - 5 votes

Ed Langdon - 4 votes

Trent Rivers - 3 votes

Jake Lever  - 2 votes

Steven May - 1 vote

apologies to Sparrow Windsor and McVee who tried

first time that Trac, JV7 or Clarry are not in the votes. They were horrible tonight and completely annihilated by Lions mids.

Very poor  - BBB, JVR, Fritta, Petty

TMac should be in everyone's votes. I thought he was really, really good tonight.

The backs (TMac, Lever, Rivers, May) deserve credit and I hope internally the club is applauding their efforts. With the amount of time the ball spent in our defensive half, most other sides would have conceded far more than 22 scoring shots.

then

5. Rivers

4. Tom Mac

3. Lever

2. Langdon

1. May

Our defence did a superb job given the non-existent performance of our midfield (Gawn aside).

6-McDonald - the only player who comprehensively won his position

5- Gawn

4- Rivers

3- Chandler

2- Langdon

1- Lever

On ballers have a night they would want to forget. Never seen Clarry Trac and Viney all stink simultaneously

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int

    POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

The Dees played insipid, error riddled & uninspiring footy all night and in a lightning delayed match they eventually succumbed to Collingwood by 46 points at the MCG in the final game of the year. Thank God this season is finally over. Bring on 2025.

    LAST DANCE by The Oracle

Forget the wishful thinking from Magpie fans who think their team can perform yet another miracle and somehow snatch a place in the 2024 finals series when their team takes on the Demons at the MCG on Friday night. It ain’t gunna happen. They can whistle Dixie through their non-existent front teeth but the fact of the matter is that both teams have run their race. The game is a dead rubber — for each of them, this will be the last dance of the season.  And given the history between the two

    RED FACED by Whispering Jack

The wind and the hot unseasonable temperatures together with lights turned on mid game at People First Stadium conspired to leave many Suns players and supporters red faced and gasping for air as the Demons proved a number of points on their way to a nine goal triumph on Saturday afternoon in the Carrara sunshine. Melbourne is the only non-Queensland team to taste victory at this venue in 2024. This surely leaves a number of journalists and media mavens red faced after they rushed to pass
