Statistically we should not have won! I say BS

The most important statistic is the score board.

Unless I am very much mistaken we won that one.

Who cares about kicks marks and forward entries? Give me scoreboard superiority any day.

We did win that game.

The discussion was around areas that Port win and lost.

The whole point was it was a great win given how sport dominated certain metrics

And yet in the area of grit we killed them.

Nothing wrong in talking about these things.

It's how we improve

AFL MRO MADNESS

The only other charge from Saturday's games was Melbourne defender Trent Rivers copping a fine for a sling tackle on Port Adelaide's Connor Rozee. Rivers has been fined $3750, which can be reduced to $2500 with an early plea.

SHALL WE START THE CROWD FUNDING !?!? It was a ridiculous decision at the time.  Whistle blow amongst screaming crowd noise and 0.0008seconds later, Riv tackles (soft) Butters who flops to the ground.  Reversal.  Port free 20 metres out. Goal. It was wrong. It was a gift to port. This fine just accelerates the confusion.  Ps. Butters hits the ground with his shoulder.

Rozee needs to offer up some cash.

Not sure what's worse, the flop or the fact he's been fined. Staggering.

If that was the requirement for a free, Gawn would get 100 of them a game. He gets deliberately smashed into at every contest.

You're missing the point. The play had stopped because the whistle had gone

Just pondering how big a win it was last night.

Such a tough gig over there.

Three interstate games out of our first five had alarm bells all over it.

I feel confident we can win next week.

Been a great last 24 between MFC and the Jack Jumpers. Island Defended.

it was a big win. As big as you get in round 3. Under pressure, scrutiny. Injuries etc. Also have the wood over another contender

Port fans whinging.

I'm so happy.

Victory from the jaws of defeat against a team with such nice supporters.

Can't stop giving likes to everyone.

I’m not a lip reader, but it wasn’t hard to interpret what Fritta said to the crowd (after receiving an earful from them) when he kicked a clutch goal from the boundary in the last.

Was down with Covid last night and asleep at 8, so just finished the replay. A couple of things I noticed…

Oliver is back.. was finding his feet the first few rounds, but last night he got stronger as the game went on. Was swooping on loose balls and moving through traffic like AA Clayton.

Howes is a very good footballer. Class and poise, rarely beaten.

Juddy is under the radar.. just does everything well

The Team look connected… tapping to advantage, blocking, selfless running. We had it in 2021, first time I’ve seen it since, and I’ve seen it 3 times already this year.

Yes! The knock ons are back! Creates momentum and keeping the ball in motion, going your way, creates opportunities for crafty players to work in space.

Absolutely massive win. If we can beat the crows and go 4-1 with 3 of 5 games interstate it will really set out season up...and we won't have to return to SA.

Short breaks haven't been kind to us in the past though & crows backs are against the wall

As much as I love my hometown oval, [censored] me it can be a pain to sit near the home field fans, for three quarters anyway loved being amongst them when they all shuffled out after Frittas goal.

For once we took our chances forward of the ball and made the other team pay 100%.

Crows an easy kill and we look strong

That was a ridiculous free. Nothing in it. Max lucked out then.

It was a cheap shot after the whistle had blown to stop play Jaded. Also flush in the back making the umpires decision easy. I think he recognised it for the cheap shot it was and couldn't pay that free fast enough.

ANB is not only an unsung hero but also a great spokesperson for the club

This is only a recent example

29 possessions and 2 goals

aerobic beast

but it’s his leadership his passion for good that most inspires

i think he will be captain soon

Great game of footy. On the one hand, Port had more of the ball, forward entries etc - but in the end, you can accumulate as many possessions as you like - Hawthorn First Quarter last game - but you need to put the score on the board. Port are a bloody good side, and to win a game like this without May, Bowey, etc shows the Demons are the goods as well. When you consider that Van R, Billings, Fritsch and Pickett and Salem found it difficult to get involved, considering that Petty is still on the Comeback Trail, the signs are good- especially for a team wrought by shambolic behind the scenes roo-nation, as they'd say in an area north of Melbourne... And how about our new guys: Windsor and Howes????

Watching the replay there was one point where Port has 21 out of the last 25 i50s.

For our May-less defence to hold up was incredible

Incredible that we were able to resist such pressure without The General.
Port were not mucking around, they tried everything

One of the Clubs best ever wins. Hopefully we can back up after 5 days

I liked the way Clarry flew to Max’s defence after Soldo roughed him up.

I thought the free was wrong too and not only because rozee flopped...

But then you had the free to max when the ump did a dodgy centre bounce and blew the whistle. Play had stopped but Soldo cannoned into Max's back and Max received a free...

Yep, that was a soft free. I would've been annoyed if that was paid against us.

Crucial time too  as we went into the quarter time break with the momentum and full of energy.

I thought soldo was really good. He worked super hard.

The one where BBB was kicking for goal is priceless. No teeth,  one guy was missing a hand (!) And the mother looked like she was from deliverance.

Very quiet after big Benny kicked the goal 🤣

Is South Australia still the only state that allows first cousins to procreate Jnr?

BBs goal to Titanic with crowd reaction.
Twas a great goal though.
Big 55m bomb from the boundary.
And FWIW I think the woman in white is rather attractive.
Though she's not in Port gear so could just be a neutral which would explain it.

Can you make it a bit more accessible than Facebook, Fork?

Challenge for goodness sakes. This is so wrong on so many levels.

autocorrection.cancel to me Rivers didn’t hear the whistle so kept playing whereas Rozee stopped & made the tackle look worse than it was

That's right, so I'm not sure how it can be a reversal given it was basically still live because Rivers didn't realise it had stopped.

I'd understand if he say punched him off ball or similar.

And it was only borderline a sling tackle and absolutely not unduly rough play.

Yes and the two biggest exponent teams are Twsnbn and Cats. The Brothers with the inside connections..

Did you take the $2.66 Bin ?

No.

The ban on dees bets remained in place unfortunately.

But i hope someone took my advice to put the super on the +14 point linevand whatever they had in their bank account on the $2.66.

We kicked for goal exceptionally poorly in the losses and exceptionally well last night.

Exactly.

But the difference between us and port's loss is that the same can't be said of Port last night.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
