Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Question for track watchers. Is Adam’s a likely prospect?

Yes but would be surprised if he got opportunities this year. Drafted in the same year as Jeffo so still has lot of development to go in both his game and his body.

BBB has a knack for kicking his 3 or 4 goals against the Dogs in our recent round 1 games.

Unless he’s nowhere near match fit I’d consider bringing him in. Drop Schache and give JVR or Fullarton the resting ruck gig.

Ben Brown would be 100 times more effective than Schache. The bloke had four touches. At least Brown’s height and reach troubles defenders and he has leading patterns. Doesn’t just stand still inside 50

There are a number of good reasons for BBB's inclusion.

His forward play nous and experience. His reliable kicking. The fact he will draw defenders and thus take the focus off JVR and frittata.

However, given his age and wonky knees, the big question is whether he has the fitness and durability to run out a game at AFL level.

Hopefully the coaching staff have and accurate and reliable take on this.

We used to run with 2 KPF’s & a resting ruck. I would bring in BBB if he’s right to go & Fullerton who is a mobile ruck.

The resting ruck most often being LJ who could move like a flanker at ground level and one of the key forwards being T Mc who couldn't pressure in tight but would always cover off as well as lead hard up the ground.

I think barring the sudden emergence of a genuinely mobile key forward we've got the right balance with just 2 talls alongside Fritsch and Petracca forward quite a bit. At least until we see if Fullarton really is super mobile. I think he's mobile for a second ruck rather than Jacko level freakish.

Plus I just can't see any possibility where BBB coming off yet another injury is right after 1 practice match. Last year he looked shot half way through the second quarter in every game he played, let's give him at least a week, most likely a month at Casey so he can stay healthy and build touch.

And it's not like we aren't making changes. Fullarton, PIckett, a full game of Salem in the midfield and most importantly something that might resemble proper football weather rather than a swamp could all work wonders before we reach for the BBB emergency siren.

All fair points here. It’s almost impossible for Fullarton to offer any less than Schache and Pickett is an infinite upgrade on Laurie/Spargo so our Round 1 forward line is going to be better even before any weather condition changes.

Whatever we do to replace Bowey, we have to prioritise Salem being a mid.

No can't see BBB being ready either, that was wishful thinking.

Was going to mention LJ but was posting on the run.

I think Fullerton is the one we've targeted to take this role.

Longer term I think our preference is the 3 talls forward but that really is contingent on the quality and that we don't have at the moment.

Agree on Salem in the middle. He really adds something different. Add a bit of Kozi in there and suddenly we're a bit more unpredictable.

I think Dermott nailed it when he described Schache as wanting to win contest in the least physical way possible.

In the before Christmas preseason, Jed was hammering it. Looked fit, put on more size, was getting plenty of plays in the sims, and generally showing good skills. He was looking like a Petty clone.

After Christmas, not as much involvement as the others really started to ramp up their intensity, he tapered off.

He will be given a chance in AfL, sometime this year, in my opinion.

Bowey 8-10 weeks is a big loss

Huge isn't it.

The halfback stocks are dwindling.

I'd be tempted to play Spargo back there. Fast, can put pressure on opps, has a good kick, loves spreading to get away from the opps. Not kicking enough goals, and plenty of small forwards to choose from.

Spargo for the big men's club!

I've got no idea what he is like defensively, but he is a great user of the footy. If he plays of half back, surely we could put the footy in his hands a lot more than he's getting it at the moment. My question mark would be on whether he has the leg speed to go with a Weightman.

I'd replace Bowey with Woewodin, who played multiple positions as a junior at East Fremantle, including as a running half-back.  It's his third year and imo he's ready.

Fullerton seems a no brainer for Schache, who hopefully never plays AFL again.

Pickett replaces Laurie, who's not good enough at AFL level.

I doubt they'll make more than 3 changes, but the sooner they deem Kynan Brown ready the better.  He already looks better than all our smalls bar Pickett, even with a small sample size.

I would replace Bowey with Hore and bring in Woewodin and Fullarton for Laurie for Schache who can both spend the rest of the year in the magoos.

What's Marty Hore like at ground level? Teams know to get the ball to ground in our forward line and they're half a chance. May, Lever and Thomlinson all shaky below their knees.

Tired of Chandler being gifted games. Lucky to be sub.

Hore and Kozzie for Bowey and Laurie.

Bbb or Fullerton for Schache.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
