Zero compensation.

Missed the SPP deadline by a few days unfortunately.

Surely a waiver for that deadline is in order, though what good it would do, I dunno.

Frankly my dear I couldn't give a damn what Maynard thinks about anything. I have a strong view about the reckless intent of that incident. I'm not going to discuss it any further.

Me too....intent to hit was there

This thread reeks of excuses. We have a solid list and will be contending again this year. Trac and Viney will do what they do, Clay Clay will go to another level, Pickett will dominate, our second string players will step up and our first round picks will play this year and provide energy.

I hope you are right.  But I fear you may be sounding a bit like the Black Knight of Holy Grail fame.

Seriously this incident could make or break the Club for the next 20 years.
We have to be Rock Solid and get Stronger

This last week has left us wounded, but not out….

Agree.  Please let it be the making, not the breaking.  Us supporters have a role here.  We can sign up & go along & support the team, or we can walk away and be part of the breaking.

The Filth / The AFL v US

End of the year we will have a serious war chest.

Gus - approx $600k pa

TMac - approx $400k pa

Brown - approx $300-$400k pa

Tomlinson - approx $300-$400k pa

We could have almost $2m in salary cap to play with, noting some of this will probably go to existing players.

Yes. We have to get more ruthless at recruiting Top Line Stars.
we have done well, but i still think there is another step to take

This Season, because of the way it has started is Crucial, if we can Stand up and Fight Hard, players will want to wear our Jumper

Gus will be a prominent watcher and supporter of such a rise in form from our players, motivated by Gus' departure under very questionable circumstances and minimalist AFL concern. Gus, you were our marque on what MFC players should be doing onfield.

Sad Homer Simpson GIF by Rodney Dangerfield

I would expect about this level of care from the AFL about compensating or helping us after this.

It will be way more than that, with more players gone.

Given the AFL is part of the Officialdom forcing the retirement, surely we are given a few more days to take a SPP player.

I'd say we'll be getting nothing for Agnus. Unlikely to get much for Angus as well. Maynard should be held responsible but of course wasn't.

Brayshaw is a young man with a uni degree. He's retiring from footy not life.. He'll get a well paid MonFri job easily. Why compensation?  For what?

AFL/tribunal found Maynards act was legal.

Case closed. Its disgusting what happened but no-one in the AFL cares.

Brayshaw knew the risks but underestimated Collingwood.

I believe Brayshaw was set up in the QF. Maynard elevated himself straight at Brayshaws head.

CEO tricky Gil hid under his desk that week. Maynatd was always getting off.

Its all over now.

Are you for real?  Is this sarcasm?  Or actually a post by a Collingwood supporter trolling?

Well, you can wallow in your sorrow.

Can you imagine that from Maynard? Nup. If he had an inch of compassion he’d be penning a public apology.

Can Maynard write?

When and how can that be activated?

Tom Morris reported not until the mid season draft. We could elevate a roomie we already have on the list, but believe that is Melksham..so not much use..

There should be flexibility in the AFL rules. You should be able to do a SSP signing at any time if a vacancy occurs. AFL could create this with a flick  of a mouse decision. But it won’t.

Only advantage is we have 3/4 mths to see which players we can consider. Should be look for another ruck support or perhaps an exciting goal kicker or possibly a key defender. Those 3 spots while either one could help us in time in 2024 if we chose the right one.

We chose Marty Hore In a panic choice really and now a half back like Angus ( a winger and class on baller also) it’s difficult to replace him.

Nevertheless we need one of the 3 hopefully a KP goal kicker  who can also do a small support in the ruck and around the ground. I as m not in the camp that wants to totally restrict JVR from rucking. He is too good a player to not use him like he could be a top class defender later in his career. Part of him is his total commitment and competitiveness and he is an asset getting the ball in any capacity. IMO it is also a great strength to have JVR flexible. Put him behind the ball for 5/10 mins. If he is not getting it up forward.

Goody has players at his disposal for cameos and changes that he could utilise if he broadened his thoughts and had the dare to do it. A little bit of Sam Mitchell and Bevo is what we need. Kossie’s start of a quarter cameo can be at any time or can be for 10 minutes for a change up just as him at full forward one out is a great move by Simon. Only Kossies lack of discipline also cost  us in the Semi.

So a mid year player get looking JT and TL. It may well be a game changer for our season Who knows.

Expressions of interest D/Lers?

I know some may feel this is too early and it's certainly out of place in the thread about Angus' retirement, but hearing something positve here will give me some relief.  What if anything can the club expect from those %#&#^s at the AFL?

Our compensation should be that we can sign Uncle Byron. Plays round 13 plus a 10 week suspension gets him through to round 24.

If you know what I mean.....
